Samuel Eto’o drops major MLS hint

Current free agent Samuel Eto’o has dropped a huge hint about making the move to MLS to pursue his playing career after his contract with Chelsea came to an end.

Earlier today Samuel Eto’o tweeted “Italy? Spain? France? UK? Turkey? USA?????” following it with “But I love USA though….”. Hinting a move to MLS is highly likely.

Eto’o has endured a very successful career thus far in Europe and could very well carry on, with UK newspaper Daily Star reporting that a move to Galatasaray is close and that switch would see the Cameroon striker link up with good friend and Holland international Wesley Sneijder.

With the World Cup over for the Cameroon captain,  the 33-year-old can now address his future.

His time at Chelsea came to an end following a spat with manager Jose Mourinho about his age it squashed any talk of him renewing his contract at the West London club.

Eto’o wouldn’t be the first big name player this summer to make the move to MLS after European stars David Villa and Kaka have also confirmed their places in MLS for next season with the new franchises New York City FC and Orlando City respectively.

Eto’o has won countless amounts of silverware in his illustrious career, winning three UEFA Champions League winners medals – two with Barcelona in 2006 and 2009 and one with Inter Milan in 2010 in their treble winning season 2009-2010. He has also won a Serie A medal and La Liga medals during his playing career.

Eto’o is no stranger to scoring goals, and scored in both Barcelona’s Champions League finals that Barcelona won, cementing himself as a big-name player, and he has gone on to score 233 league goals in La Liga, Serie A, the Russian Premier League and the English Premier League. He would bring a vast amount of experience and goals with him if he made the move to America.

Could he make the move to on of the new franchises who look set to take Major League Soccer by storm next year. Both teams have designated player spots available, though there will be no shortage of interested parties amongst MLS clubs.

Where could Eto’o move with a switch to MLS?
