Preview: Philadelphia Union vs Sporting Kansas City

Sporting Kansas City travel to PPL Park to take on Philadelphia this weekend. Philadelphia are winless in their last six in all competitions, and are now out of the playoff hunt following their capitulation against the Columbus Crew on Saturday.

Sporting KC’s inconsistent form has cost them this season as they are set to miss out on top spot in the Eastern Conference, while Philadelphia have struggled to put together any real form all season.

Philadelphia have conceded ten goals in those last six games, and only found the net just six times.

The Union have a neutral goal difference this campaign, and with a striker who could notch up to 20 goals per season they’d possibly have been able to push for the one of the crucial top five spots.

Philadelphia have nothing left to play for, but supporters won’t want to watch them roll over and allow Kansas City to walk out with an easy win, so this should be interesting still.

The New York Red Bulls are hot on the tail of Kansas City and so Sporting will want to get a win to keep the gap at two points heading into the final game of the season.

Key Player: Dominic Dwyer: The English forward has 21 goals in 31 appearances this season.

Key stat: The Union have conceded as many as they’ve scored in the league, 48.

Philadelphia’s last five: D/D/L/D/L

Sporting Kansas City’s last five: L/W/L/D/W

Prediction: Philadelphia 1-3 Sporting KC – Kansas City have not beaten Philadelphia in two home attempts this season but will be looking to put things right on Saturday night.
