Preview & Prediction: DC United vs Chicago Fire

DC United line up against Chicago Fire this weekend, with both sides heading into the game in very different positions, but both will want to get three points here nonetheless.

The Eastern Conference leaders, DC, go into the game in good form, unbeaten in their previous six games in all competitions, and know that they are heading to the playoffs.

The same can’t be said for Chicago, who are winless in seven and have only scored the same amount of goals in those fixtures, and know that they are already looking ahead to next year.

United have been freely scoring this season and have been the best side defensively, and that has been a major factor in their success on the pitch.

An easy enough win looks to be on the cards for DC, with the Fire having only won five times in the entire campaign.

The tie isn’t a foregone conclusion though, as Chicago haven’t lost to DC in the last three meetings between the sides, and the league’s draw specialists will be content with a point in this one too.

Key Player: Fabian Espindola, DC’s leading goalscorer could grab himself a hat-full, all being well.

Key stat: Chicago have failed to win in their last seven away games in MLS.

DC United Last 5: W/D/W/W/D

Chicago Fire Last 5: L/D/D/L/D

Prediction: DC United 4-1 Chicago
