The 2014 season ended less than 24 hours ago but Major League Soccer has already set it sights on next year by revealing the new match ball that will be used in MLS from next season.
The Adidas ball is called NATIVO and has a very modern look to it with a white, blue and red colour scheme. It represents both the United States and Canada with icons on the ball as well as the new MLS logo.
Ernesto Bruce, director of soccer at adidas America revealed that the ball was their most advanced ever and is similar to the World Cup’s Brazuca ball.
“Our partnership with MLS is incredibly important to us because together, we’re ensuring our homegrown athletes have viable opportunities to play soccer at the highest level,” he said.
“Entering the league’s 20th season, we’re excited to bring our most advanced ball ever to the soccer pitch so we can help players perform at their best.”
NATIVO features six identical panels designed to optimize aerodynamics, stability, and symmetry in flight, and also uses materials and technology that match the standards of the Brazuca ball seen in Brazil in the summer.
2015 is set to be Major League Soccer’s most exciting yet. A new logo, two new teams and now a new match ball mean excitement for the new season is already building at a rapid rate.
