As we know, the New England Revolution playmaker was one of the star performers last season and earned himself a nomination for MVP.
His hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed and there has been talk of him moving into Europe with Southampton a possible destination.
He is at the forefront of everything good about the Revs and was a major keystone in their rise to success last season.
His MLS Cup Final performance may have been below par by his high standards and gives him even more incentive to stay and really push forward with this New England side.
It would be a grave loss for Major League Soccer and the USMNT if he were to make a move anywhere outside of MLS, simply because of the success he has already enjoyed and also playing alongside fellow countrymen.
The ever growing quality of MLS is helped no end by exciting players like Nguyen and on the Revs part it would be a backward step.
The attraction of playing in the Premier League would appeal to almost every player and we have seen down the years that players from the USMNT have enjoyed their time there.
His ability has caused him to be double marked in a large proportion of his games, which in turn gives so much space for his teammates. This is something that may not be the case for him if he moved across to the Premier League.
Most importantly for Nguyen is that he is part of one of the fastest growing leagues worldwide and things are only on the up.
The Revs must keep hold of him if they are to challenge on all fronts again next season and we fully expect that to be the case.
Do you think ‘MVLEE’ should stay at The Revs?
