Captain, talisman and legend are just a few words used to describe Liverpool‘s Steven Gerrard and the midfielder is set to play in his final Merseyside derby this weekend as the Reds travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton.

It will be his 33rd derby clash against Everton and he has been through it all, scoring numerous times, being sent off and has even netted a hat-trick in past matches.
The 34-year-old, who is set join MLS side LA Galaxy in the summer, has scored ten goals in his 32 games against Everton and could well be on target again in a game he loves to play in.

2006: Gerrard saw red for two bookings in the 18th minute but on the Reds went on to win the game at Anfield 3-1.
2001: Gerrard netted an early equaliser away at Goodison Park before the Reds went on to win 3-1.
2005: Gerrard scored his first derby goal at Anfield with a trademark free kick routine after 27 minutes in a 2-1 victory.
2012: Gerrard gave Liverpool fans even more reason to love him three years ago as he netted a superb hat-trick at Anfield and became the highest Premier League scorer in the fixture in a comfortable 3-0 win.Embed from Getty Images
We can expect the Liverpool skipper to have an impact on the game on Saturday and he will fire up his teammates in his final Merseyside derby appearance. He will want to go out on a high by sealing victory and don’t rule out the skipper scoring a trademark thunderbolt.
The Merseyside derby will undoubtedly miss Gerrard and this will be the last time we see one of England’s most combative midfield enforcers feature in one of the biggest derbies of all time.
He has scored in the past two derby games, both at Anfield, and will hope to help his side to victory yet again with another strike this weekend.
The LA Galaxy will no doubt benefit from the addition of Gerrard when he arrives in MLS in the summer but all eyes will be on him in a red shirt until that moment comes.
