And the Fire will face a real battle in the centre of midfield as Brazilian powerhouse Sandro is set to continue his return to match fitness in the game against the Eastern Conference outfit.
Sandro joined QPR in a £10 million deal from Spurs last summer but the 25-year-old defensive midfielder has made just eight Premier League appearances for the R’s so far as he has struggled with a knee injury that has kept him out since November.
But the man nicknamed “the Beast” for his aggressive approach to the game is now relishing the chance to continue his rehabilitation against Chicago today.
“It is important for me not to rush back,” he told QPR’s official website. “If I am not 100 per cent I could get another injury. I played against Brentford and I will play again today so slowly I will be ready.
“It was very good to be back. I’ve been looking forward playing again, I know have to improve my fitness a bit more but after my first game I feel good and strong.
“After another week I think I will have improved my fitness even more and I will be ready.”
The Chicago Fire opened up their preseason campaign with a 0-0 draw with Norwich City last Thursday and they will be hoping for a positive result in their clash with QPR later on today.
