It’s safe to say Keane likes to lead his team. He has done since joining the club in 2011 and has stepped up as a leader when both David Beckham, and more recently, Landon Donovan left the side.
Keane has insisted that he will remain the LA Galaxy captain this season despite the fact that former teammate and long-term Liverpool captain, Gerrard is joining up with the team in July.
“He is arriving as an addition, not as a replacement as captain,” Keane told reporters in Ireland where the Galaxy are set to play Shamrock Rovers on Saturday.
“I have spoken to Steven and he is excited about the challenge of coming to LA Galaxy. He is going to be a great addition to our squad.”

The Liverpool legend is expected to make his debut in the home game against San Jose Earthquakes on Friday, July 17.
