Competition: Major League Soccer – Houston Dynamo vs Colorado Rapids
Venue: BBVA Compass Stadium – Saturday, March 28 – 20:30 ET (Sunday, March 29 – 00:30 GMT)
Match Odds: Houston Dynamo 19/20 – Draw 5/2 – Colorado Rapids 14/5
The Dynamo’s start to the season has very much been a mixed bag having won one, drawn one and lost one of their first three games as head coach Owen Coyle settles into his new job, although it was a valuable point against LA Galaxy last weekend.
Colorado have played one game less and remain undefeated with two goalless draws against Philadelphia Union and New York City, although the fact they haven’t found the net yet will be a slight concern for head coach Pablo Mastroeni and he will be hoping they can change that in this encounter.Embed from Getty Images
None of the players on the pitch on Saturday night will have scored a goal in MLS so far this season as Houston’s previous goalscorers Giles Barnes and Nathan Sturgis are unavailable for action, so we can expect an extremely tight contest.
The Rapids haven’t won an away game in MLS since April 2014 when they beat Toronto 1-0 and their opening day draw in Philadelphia was their first point on the road since July 2014 – they had lost their previous nine away games.
Colorado Rapids ran out 3-0 winners over Houston Dynamo when these two sides last met back in June of last year. The last meeting in Houston was a 1-1 draw in April 2013.Embed from Getty Images
Houston Dynamo midfielder Ricardo Clark is a major doubt for the game, while DaMarcus Beasley, Raul Rodriguez and Nathan Sturgis are also struggling to recover from injury. Houston have been hit hard by players being called up for international duty and will be without Oscar Boniek Garcia, Luis Garrido, Giles Barnes and Jermaine Taylor.
Colorado Rapids will be without defenders Drew Moor (knee) and Marlon Hairston (shoulder), while there’s also doubts over Axel Sjoberg (foot) and Carlos Alvarez (ankle). Defender Shane O’Neill is away on international duty.

Colorado Rapids’ form: D/D
Key Stat: Houston Dynamo haven’t beaten Colorado Rapids in their last eight attempts in MLS (D3, L5).
Key Player: David Horst – The tall Houston centre-back has been a rock at the heart of the defence and with a number of key players missing, he may have more work to do to ensure they can keep a clean sheet.Embed from Getty Images
Houston Dynamo 0-0 Colorado Rapids – It’s hard to see where the goals are coming from in this game and with so many players missing for Houston, we can expect a low scoring draw.
