MLS Power Rankings: Week 5 – Vancouver go top, Revs rise again

It was another weekend of twists and turns in MLS as 21 goals were scored in the eight games in Week 5, and that means it’s time to look at the updated MLSGB Power Rankings.

Vancouver Whitecaps climbed to the top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings with their fourth win in a row as they beat reigning MLS Cup champions, LA Galaxy on Saturday.

While at the other end, Philadelphia Union remain winless after suffering a third-straight defeat at the hand of Sporting Kansas City despite leading the game in the 90th minute as two late goals cost them three points.

Chicago Fire and New England Revolution both made it two wins on the bounce and climbed into the top four of the Eastern Conference despite starting the season without a win in their first three.

Elsewhere, the Seattle Sounders got their first win since the opening weekend against Houston Dynamo, while Real Salt Lake remained unbeaten with a 1-0 victory in San Jose.
