Real Madrid remain fully focused on trying to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea and are “doing everything possible” to bring the Spanish stopper to the Bernabeu this summer, according to Fichajes.net.
De Gea has yet to sign a new contract at United and would be able to leave on a free transfer at the end of next season if no new deal is penned, meaning the Red Devils will have to consider selling this summer.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper has put in some incredible performances under Louis Van Gaal this season and is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. United value him at £50 million and may have to cash in on him if a big offer arrives.
Madrid want De Gea to replace Iker Casillas as Los Blancos’ number one between the sticks and according to Fichajes, the Spanish giants are set to offer him a much better contract than he would get at Old Trafford.
The report goes on to add that De Gea has always been keen to return to his homeland with his family as rumours regarding a possible exit show no signs of slowing as we approach the end of the season.
The Spaniard joined United from Atletico Madrid for around £18 million in 2011 and has gone on to make 169 appearances, keeping 60 clean sheets.
