Competition: Major League Soccer – Colorado Rapids vs. Seattle Sounders
Venue: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park – Saturday, April 18th – 21:00 ET (02:00 BST)
Match Odds: Colorado Rapids 7/5 – Draw 12/5 – Seattle Sounders 9/5
The Rapids are coming off a fantastic 4-0 away win at early Western Conference pacesetters FC Dallas last week, which was their first win of the season as they scored their first goals of the campaign too.
Seattle Sounders come into this one off a defeat at LA Galaxy in which they lost thanks to a solitary Alan Gordon goal. Before the Rapids rolled over FC Dallas last weekend, they mustered up three goalless draws and a defeat to New England Revolution.
The first goal at Dallas broke the 362 minute scoreless streak from the start of the season. It was the second-longest wait in MLS history, and the victory also saw the Rapids end their 18-match winless run to prevent them from becoming the only team to go 19 without a win in MLS history.
The Rapids will be feeling confident coming into this one, especially after two goals in each half against Dallas. They can also take confidence that they have only conceded two goals all season in their opening five games, and will look to keep things tight at the back against Seattle in this one.Embed from Getty Images
The Sounders have had a mixed start to the MLS season winning three, losing two and drawing just the once. Seattle have yet to find their form but will see a trip to Colorado as a winnable fixture.
They have scored just one goal in their last three matches – not a great return for the Supporters’ Shield winners as they look to prop up the Western Conference once again this season, and need to force their way back into the playoff places early to keep up with the leading pack.
All of Seattle’s goals have come from Obafemi Martins and captain Clint Dempsey so far. Both have scored three each. The worry for the Sounders is that Dempsey looks a doubt for the match at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park after missing last weekend’s trip to LA.
Last season, the Rapids lost all three games to Seattle with two 4-1 defeats, one of which came at the same stadium Saturday’s game will be played at.
Colorado Rapids could be without Axel Sjoberg (foot), Marc Burch (rib), and Sam Cronin (concussion), while Carlos Alvarez is a doubt but he did return to training in the week.
Seattle Sounders may have to be without Clint Dempsey again as he continues to suffer with his hamstring injury that he picked up on his last international break.

Key Player: Obafemi Martins – If Clint Dempsey is fit and can play he could provide some excellent service for the Nigerian striker, who knows who to find the back of the net. Martins will expect to add to his tally of three for the season.
Colorado Rapids 0-2 Seattle Sounders – Last week’s win for the Rapids was incredible but the Sounders have a serious point to prove and they will need to be at their best to defeat this confident Colorado side.
