Competition: Major League Soccer – New York City FC vs. Seattle Sounders
Venue: Yankee Stadium – Sunday, May 3rd – 19:00 ET (00:00 BST)
Match Odds: NYCFC 2/1 – Draw 9/4 – 11/8
NYCFC are currently on a six-game winless run, with only one win registered all season, coming at Yankee Stadium against a depleted New England Revolution in their home opener with a comfortable 2-0 win for the new franchise.

New York City sit in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, just two points off the playoff places with fellow debut franchise Orlando City sitting in that all-important sixth spot at this early stage. A win could see NYCFC elevate into the top six and into the playoff positions, where they will want to be come the end of the season, especially considering the talent the club have at their disposal.
Last Friday’s match against the Fire was the fourth game that New York have played without scoring a goal, and the chances of getting a result against last season’s MLS Supporters’ Shield winners are slim.
Seattle Sounders have now registered back-to-back wins for the first time this season following last Sunday night’s win over Portland Timbers. That 1-0 win came after Clint Dempsey’s winner moved the Sounders into third place in the Western Conference. Dempsey has now scored or provided an assist in all five of the games he has played this season.
As we mentioned in the podcast this week, the Sounders have a team of talent with strikers Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey playing crucial roles in their recent run of form. But a worry for the Sounders is that eight of their ten goals this season have come from Martins and Dempsey and it could look like they are relying on them too much.Embed from Getty Images
Seattle now face three away matches in a row before returning to Centurylink Field, where they will then play three home games in a row.
It is the first meeting between the sides, and the only one of the regular season, but New York City head coach Jason Kreis has managed against Seattle twelve times with five wins, four losses and three draws.
New York City will be without George John for the foreseeable future, while Tony Taylor will miss the rest of the season and Javier Calle is out with hamstring injury. Jason Kreis also has doubts hanging over the fitness of captain David Villa, Adam Nemec and also Jason Hernandez, leaving NYCFC rather light up front.
Seattle Sounders have a fully fit squad and will be aiming to get a third win on the bounce in their first trip to Yankee Stadium to face NYCFC.

Key Stat: New York City have now gone six games without a win and are currently on the worst run in MLS this season.
Key Player: Clint Dempsey – The Seattle man has been in scintillating form and has come back from his injury looking as dangerous as ever. He got the winner last week and will be key again in this one.Embed from Getty Images
New York City 0-3 Seattle Sounders – An easy win for the Sounders against a New York City side who are without some key players and will struggle to get goals against a tough Sounders side who have one of the best defences in MLS this season.
