Chelsea and City to battle for £7m French defender

Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City will go head-to-head in the chase for Sevilla defender Timothee Kolodziejczak this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old Frenchman, who is also known as ‘Kolo’, only joined Sevilla last summer from Ligue 1 side Nice but could be on the move again, with a whole host of top clubs looking at swooping for the £7 million-rated star.

Chelsea and Manchester City have both been linked as they look to strengthen at left-back this summer, though Kolodziejczak can also operate in the centre of defence, making him even more appealing.

Jose Mourinho could let Filipe Luis depart after just one year as Cesar Azpilicueta is the first-choice left-back at Stamford Bridge, so a backup could be needed.

While City will look to add at least one left-sided defender as Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov could both leave in the coming months.

Augsburg’s Abdul Rahman Baba is also being linked with a move to Chelsea and City, while the Citizens have reportedly lined up an approach for Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

Kolodziejczak was a target of Swansea and West Ham’s last summer before he ended up moving to Sevilla for just £3 million.

He has made 17 league appearances, scoring once, but could be on the move again if City or Chelsea step up their pursuits with an offer.

Would Timothee Kolodziejczak be a good signing for Chelsea or Manchester City?
