Wimmer has long been linked with a move to White Hart Lane this summer, and although the club have yet to officially confirm the deal, the Daily Mirror have reported it is done.
Spurs will pay around £4 million for the FC Koln centre-back and at 22, he is a player with the potential to be a defensive star.
Wimmer has made 31 Bundesliga appearances this season, helping his side to boast the sixth-best defensive record in Germany’s top flight.
Paperwork on the deal to take him to Spurs was reportedly completed last week and the player will complete the switch on June 1, though he will not travel with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for their end of season tours of Australia and Malaysia.
Spurs are expected to have a busy summer as several players are set to leave after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League yet again this season.
Wimmer is looking like he’ll be the first name through the doors at White Hart Lane, and many will likely follow.
Will Kevin Wimmer be a good signing for Tottenham this summer? Is he what the club need?
