MLS Power Rankings: Week 14 – Sporting KC up to second as Crew suffer big drop

Week 14 was another busy one in MLS. International games saw teams lose key players across the league but the entertainment was still there for the most part (let’s forget Sunday night).

There were 34 goals in the 13 games this week and a few surprise results as teams that were struggling are starting to pull things together.

Montreal Impact won back-to-back games in their double gameweek, taking them within two points of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, while over in the Western Portland won their third straight MLS game for the first time in franchise history.

Both those teams climb in this week’s Power Rankings along with Orlando City, Toronto, Houston Dynamo, FC Dallas, Vancouver Whitecaps, DC United and Sporting Kansas City.

SKC have now gone seven games without defeat and Saturday’s 1-0 win against the Seattle Sounders was a big one. They are now third in the Western Conference and are up to second in our latest Power Rankings.

One team not so happy is the Columbus Crew. They lost twice in four days this week; firstly to the Philadelphia Union in that 3-0 defeat on Wednesday and then lost 2-1 at home to the Montreal Impact.

They fall six places in the rankings this week and are one of eight clubs to have dropped at least a place.

Here’s how the MLSGB Power Rankings look after Week 14’s action:
