Arsenal midfielder “in talks” with MLS side despite new Gunners offer – report

French midfielder Abou Diaby could be set to complete a surprise move to Major League Soccer as he is reportedly in talks with FC Dallas, according to France Football.

Diaby was released by Arsenal today after spending ten years at the club, although Arsene Wenger has offered the 29-year-old powerhouse a pay-as-you-play deal for the upcoming season – an option the player is not keen on.

Regular first-team football will be at the top of his agenda after yet another injury-hit campaign saw Diaby make just one appearance for the second straight season.

Fitness concerns are clearly the reason behind Arsenal’s choice not to renew his contract and FC Dallas could be the beneficiaries if they can wrap up a deal.

The former Auxerre man is believed to be in Dallas now discussing a possible move to the area he previously spent a year in when recovering from one of his long-term setbacks.

FC Dallas have one Designated Player slot remaining and it’s to be expected that Diaby would join Fabian Castillo and Mauro Diaz as a DP were he to reach an agreement.

Oscar Pareja’s side could really do with some strong reinforcement in the centre of midfield as the Western Conference outfit look to improve on their recent run of one win in seven.

Diaby is available as a free agent and so no transfer fee would be required.

Would Abou Diaby be a good signing for FC Dallas? Should he move to MLS?
