Caleb Porter‘s side come into this one off the back of their 3-0 defeat to Philadelphia Union, which is a frustrating result for all involved at Portland as they could have gone top of the Western Conference with a win.
The Timbers have been a little inconsistent of late, with two losses in their last five games. The Western Conference is extremely tight and they cannot afford to lose pace in the top six, who are separated by just two points.

Vancouver Whitecaps are sitting second on goal-difference and know this is not going to be an easy tie.
Carl Robinson‘s side have surprisingly lost their last two on the bounce and need to get back to winnings ways. This will not be easy as they’re facing a very solid Timbers side who don’t give their opponents points at home.
Whitecaps 1-0 defeat away at Sporting Kansas City was a disappointing one, as they would have expected to win.
