Montreal are down in eighth in the Eastern but have played just 16 games, fewer than anyone else, and will still be hoping to make the playoffs come the end of the regular season.
They will do well to pick up three points in Kansas City this weekend though as SKC have won their last four at home and look to be in great shape.
The hosts beat Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 away last time out and have not lost to Eastern Conference opposition all season.
Montreal come into the game in very average form, with two wins, two losses and a draw in their last five. They have only won once on the road this season and will be lucky to leave Sporting Park with a point.Embed from Getty Images
They did beat Columbus Crew 3-0 at home in their last outing and will hope to build on that performance here in the only regular season meeting between the two this year.
Ike Opara is a long-term absentee for Sporting Kansas City, while Seth Sinovic and Bernardo Anor are both doubts. Soni Mustivar, Graham Zusi and Marcel De Jong are away on international duty.
Montreal will be without Justin Mapp, Cameron Porter, Adrian Lopez and Kenny Cooper through injury, while Hassoun Camara is a doubt. Maxim Tissot is away on international duty and will not feature.
