Competition: Major League Soccer – LA Galaxy vs. Portland Timbers
Venue: StubHub Center – Sunday, October 18 – 19:00 ET (00:00 BST)
Match Odds: LA Galaxy – Draw – Portland Timbers
They will cap off the penultimate week of the regular season at StubHub Center with the Galaxy’s hopes of lifting the Supporters’ Shield still alive, while Portland are battling to make the postseason.
LA Galaxy are three points of FC Dallas and the New York Red Bulls in the race for the Supporters’ Shield. Those two will have played before LA take to the field on Sunday night, though the Galaxy will still have a chance of glory regardless of their results.
LA Galaxy’s MLS record: P32 – W14 – D9 – L9
Bruce Arena’s side have only lost once at home this season but their recent form hasn’t been great as they’ve only won one in their last five.
Portland don’t have much more to cheer about with regard to recent form either. The Timbers have only won two of their seven. Both of those have been away from Providence Park though, so Caleb Porter will be quietly confident of stunning the Galaxy here.
Portland Timbers’ MLS record: P32 – W13 – D8 – L11
Portland sit outside of the playoffs on goal difference with two games to play. Seattle and San Jose sit in fifth and sixth, respectively both on 47 points along with Portland in seventh.
The Timbers need to win both of their last games to give themselves the best chance of making the top six but that will be no easy task as they have not won away at the Galaxy in their last seven trips.
LA Galaxy have a few injury concerns going into this one. Brian Perk and Bradford Jamieson remain out, while Todd Dunivant, Baggio Dunivant, Robbie Rogers and Giovani Dos Santos are doubts.
Portland will be without right-back Alvas Powell as he will serve a one-game suspension for yellow card accumulation. Ben Zemanski is still out, while Will Johnson remains doubtful with a leg problem.
LA Galaxy’s last five: L/D/L/W/D

LA Galaxy 1-1 Portland Timbers – Neither side boast good form coming into a crucial game and that could lead to a tight and cagey affair. These two have drawn three of their last five and a score draw could be on the cards in Sunday’s encounter.
