The 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs continued to throw up excitement, drama and goals last night as all four conference semifinal second legs were played out over an eight-hour period.

Two games went to extra time, one to penalties and at the end of it we were left with the lineup for the upcoming Eastern and Western Conference finals as just four teams are left chasing the 2015 MLS Cup title.

The New York Red Bulls were the first to advance in the most straightforward game of the night. They beat DC United 1-0 (2-0 agg) to advance to a second successive Eastern Conference final.

They will face the Columbus Crew in the Eastern final after the Black and Gold turned a 2-1 first leg deficit around against the Montreal Impact to advance 3-1 after extra time (4-3 on aggregate).

Kei Kamara went from hero to villain, then back to hero as he scored the first and last goals of the night either side of missing a penalty with the game tied at 1-1 to send the Crew through to the conference final.

Over in the Western Conference ties, things got even more dramatic as FC Dallas and the Seattle Sounders played out an instant classic.

Three goals in the final ten minutes sent the game to extra time and eventually penalties in a pulsating end to the tie.

Dallas took the lead in the 83rd minute before the Sounders then equalised in the 90th minute as it looked like they would be advancing.

But Dallas defender Walker Zimmerman then headed the home side back in front in stoppage time to send the game to extra time. Zimmerman then fired the winning penalty in the shootout after two great saves from young Dallas ‘keeper Jesse Gonzalez to eliminate Seattle in wild circumstances.

Dallas will now face the Portland Timbers in the Western Conference Final. Portland managed to seal an impressive 2-0 win away at the Vancouver Whitecaps to win the game by the same scoreline on aggregate.

Vancouver’s chances were hampered when Kekuta Manneh was taken off injured in the first half but nothing can be taken away from Portland, who rallied to seal the result they needed to keep playoff hopes alive.

The MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Finals will begin in two weeks time on Sunday, November 22nd with the second legs taking place a week later on Sunday, November 29th.
