Venue: Stamford Bridge – Sunday, February 7 – 16:00 GMT (11:00 ET)

Match Odds: Chelsea 21/20 – Draw 21/10 – Man Utd 29/10

Match Preview

Chelsea take on Manchester United in the latest installment of their long-standing Premier League rivalry on Sunday afternoon, although with both sides lower down the table than they would like.

The Blues have not lost a game since Guus Hiddink took control of the club in December, though they have been drawing more often than they would like.

Wednesday night’s 0-0 draw at Watford was Chelsea’s fifth in their last seven league games and the club have now drawn three straight matches at home.

They would love to beat Manchester United on Sunday as they look to continue improving after a shocking first-half of the campaign.

United have more to play for in the Premier League than the Blues, with the Red Devils five points off fourth place going into the weekend.

Louis Van Gaal knows his side need a win to ensure they remain right up with the pace set by the top four clubs at the moment.

That might be a struggle though, given the fact that United have not beaten Chelsea in any of their last nine meetings.

A 3-0 home win against Stoke on Tuesday lifted spirits for Manchester United but a trip to Stamford Bridge is always a tricky tie and one that will hopefully entertain more than the 0-0 reverse fixture did in December.

Team News

Chelsea’s only injury concerns are for their attacking players as Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao remain out, while new signing Alexandre Pato is not yet match fit. Eden Hazard will hope to start after having to settle for a place on the bench on Wednesday night.

Manchester United are still sweating over the fitness of Phil Jones and Bastian Schweinsteiger, though Louis Van Gaal could name an unchanged side to the team that beat Stoke 3-0 on Tuesday. Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young remain out.

Key Points

Chelsea’s last five: W/D/D/W/D

Manchester United’s last five: W/D/W/L/W

Key Stat: Chelsea are unbeaten against United in nine games in all competitions, having not lost to the Red Devils since October 2012.

Key Player: Diego Costa – The Chelsea striker is always heavily involved in the big games, for better or worse, and will look to fire the Blues past United here.

Score Prediction

Chelsea 1-1 Manchester United – This is likely to be a close-fought battle between two long-standing rivals but it’s difficult to see either side winning so a score draw looks the most likely outcome.
