Seattle Sounders endured mixed emotions as they played their first competitive match of 2016 on Tuesday night as they drew 2-2 at home to Club America in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal clash.

Seattle led twice, with Clint Dempsey scoring both goals, but the Liga MX side battled well to earn a valuable 2-2 draw, with the two away goals a blow for the Sounders.

A huge crowd of 42,836 were in attendance at CenturyLink Field for the game – a club record for a CONCACAF Champions League match – and they will have been pleased by the performance of their team.
