Match Preview

Montreal Impact welcome Eastern Conference rivals New England Revolution to Stade Saputo on Saturday night.

Montreal are currently fourth in the East, trailing top spot by five points but they do have two games in hand, so wins in both of those would see them go first.

Mauro Biello’s side come into this one off the back of their 2-2 draw with SKC, where they twice threw the lead away.

Impact have drawn consecutive regular season games and have just one win in their last nine. They need to find a way to turn draws into wins, as they have had to share the points in six of those nine games.

New England Revolution are siting eighth, one point outside the playoff places but only seven points off top spot, showing just how competitive the Eastern Conference is this season.

The Revs lost 2-0 to DC last time out, their second loss in their last five games. But things have improved for New England, as they have three wins in those five outings.

Jay Heaps will be looking for his players to break their duck and finally net against Montreal. His side have failed to breach the Impact backline in the last three meetings in all competitions between the sides and they’ll be desperate to put that dry run to an end here.
