Kansas City are sitting 7th in the West, one point outside the playoff places. They have been in an inconsistent run of form which has seen them pick up seven points in five games.
SKC come into the tie off the back of their 1-0 away loss to Colorado their second loss on the bounce, which considering their opponents’ form, wasn’t the most surprising result.

Seattle Sounders are sitting 9th in the West ahead of this tie. Their 3-1 loss to Portland last weekend was yet another frustrating result to take, especially after they had beat Dallas 5-0 the week before.
Sigi Schmid just cannot get his side on a run of form they so desperately need and it is looking more and more unlikely that they will make the playoffs this season. The good news is there is still plenty of time to close the gap on the top six. They trail by nine points but need results to start going their way sooner rather than later.
This looks like it has the makings of a difficult afternoon for Sounders, who face an SKC that have won their last three on the bounce at home.
Sporting Kansas City have five injury concerns heading into this tie. Nuno Coelho and Matt Besler are both expected to miss out while Chance Myers, Paulo Nagamura and Graham Zusi are questionable.
Seattle Sounders have just one injury concern as Roman Torres is out. Osvaldo Alonso is suspended following his yellow card accumulation.
