Competition: Major League Soccer – Seattle Sounders vs. Toronto FC
Venue: CenturyLink Field – Saturday, May 6th – 15:00 ET (20:00 BST)
Match Odds: Seattle 5/6 – Draw 12/5 – Toronto 3/1
Seattle Sounders are looking to continue their unbeaten home run this weekend as they welcome Toronto to CenturyLink Field on Saturday afternoon.
This is the repeat fixture of last season’s MLS Cup Final and Seattle will be all too aware Toronto are looking to avenge their heartbreak suffered last December.
Seattle are sitting 7th in the Western Conference, eight points off top spot. They are suffering from some defensive frailties, highlighted once again last time out as they had to come from three goals down to pick up a point at home against New England. They know they cannot afford to give Toronto chances like that, as they will be punished.
Toronto have picked up their form and have won three on the bounce. They have netted seven times in those three and are looking deadly in front of goal.
Greg Vanney is loving having the quality of both Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco at his disposal as the pair have netted ten of his sides 14 goals this season.
This is a winnable game for Toronto but they know how hard Seattle can be to beat. In 12 meetings between the sides they have won just twice, with Seattle winning seven (eight including the MLS Cup Final shootout) so this will be a big ask.
Seattle Sounders could be without up to five for the visit of Toronto on Saturday as Oniel Fisher, Chad Marshall and Nouhou Tolo are all expected to be out, while Brad Evans and Aaron Kovar are both questionable.
Toronto’s squad could be just as stretched as Chris Mavinga and Drew Moor look set to remain out, while Clint Irwin, Ashtone Morgan and Jason Hernandez are doubtful.
Seattle Sounders’ form: D/D/L/W/D
Toronto’s form: D/L/W/W/W
Key Stat: Seattle haven’t lost at home this season, stretching their unbeaten run at CenturyLink Field to 14 games.
Key Player: Sebastian Giovinco – The Atmoic Ant has hit form, scoring four goals in his last three appearances.
Seattle Sounders 2-2 Toronto – A score draw seems a likely result. Seattle have drawn two of their three home games in 2017, while Toronto’s record is far from convincing in this fixture. Seattle have shown their resilience to pick up points already this season and they’re going to need to be on the ball if they’re to stop the Toronto forward duo.
