Competition: Major League Soccer – LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo
Venue: StubHub Center – Saturday, June 17 – 23:00 (04:00 BST)
Match Odds: LA Galaxy 10/11 – Draw 5/2 – Houston 11/4
An all Western Conference clash will take place at StubHub Center on Saturday evening as LA Galaxy welcome the travelling Houston Dynamo.
LA have been underwhelming for the most part this season, but have picked up in recent weeks and are now unbeaten in six games. They come into this one having seen their three-game winning streak come to an end with a draw away at DC.
Curt Onalfo will be expecting his side to continue their unbeaten run here as they are working their way towards a playoff spot. Galaxy are just one point out of the top six with two games in hand and if they had six extra points on the board they’d only be four points off the top of the West.Embed from Getty Images
Houston Dynamo come into this one in a bit of a rut of form. They have put in some excellent performances in 2017 but have dropped off the pace somewhat.
Wilmer Cabrera’s side have won just once in their last five games but are still in a strong position as they sit third in the West and could be top if they had the extra three points on offer to them from their game in hand.
Houston have only won one of their last seven on the road and it’s not a great time to be playing against a Galaxy side who have recently hit form.
LA Galaxy’s injury woes continue and they are looking likely to be without six. Robbie Rogers, Sebastian Lletget, Baggio Husidic, Daniel Steres and Brian Rowe are out, while Jermaine Jones is a doubt. Giovani Dos Santos is away at the Confederations Cup with Mexico.
Houston could be without up to three for this fixture as George Malki and Erik Alexander both remain out, while Romell Quioto is a doubt.
LA Galaxy’s form: D/W/W/W/D
Houston Dynamo’s form: L/L/D/W/L
Key Stat: Houston Dynamo have been struggling on the road, they have lost six of their last seven and look unlikely to see their luck on the road improve this weekend.
Key Player: Romain Alessandrini – The French attacker hasn’t scored in three games but he does have six goals and six assists in 13 starts this season. He’ll be looking to provide the difference here.Embed from Getty Images
LA Galaxy 2-1 Houston Dynamo – While Galaxy are the in-form team heading into this tie they must not forget how well Houston have played this season. It has the makings of a cagey affair, but given Houston’s struggles on the road, three points look likely for LA Galaxy.
