MLS Preview and Prediction: San Jose Earthquakes vs Portland Timbers

Competition: Major League Soccer – San Jose Earthquakes vs. Portland Timbers

Venue: Avaya Stadium – Sunday, August 2 – 17:00 ET (22:00 BST)

Match Odds: San Jose Earthquakes 7/5 – Draw 5/2 – Portland Timbers 7/4

Match Preview

San Jose Earthquakes host Western Conference rivals Portland Timbers on Sunday night as they will be hoping to end a run of four losses on the bounce in MLS.

Having been without star man Chris Wondolowski for the duration of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, San Jose have struggled to cope and need to pick back up quickly to keep playoff hopes alive.

With them now seven points off the playoffs, its a longshot, but in a league where anything can happen, San Jose are still in with a shot.

San Jose Earthquakes’ 2015 record in MLS: P20 – W7 – D4 – L9

Portland come into the tie with no win in three and have stepped off the gas in recent weeks after an impressive run of form that propelled them into the playoff spots.

After a 1-0 win the reverse fixture last month, Portland will be looking for a repeat of that result to solidify their playoff position as the regular season end draws ever closer.

Team News

San Jose Earthquakes are without Innocent Emeghara, Steven Lenhart and Mike Fucito through injury. Clarence Goodson is a doubt with a leg injury. Chris Wondolowski returns after Gold Cup duty with the USMNT.

Portland Timbers will be missing Ben Zemanski who is still out with a serious knee injury. Fanendo Adi could return to the starting lineup after being benched in the 4-1 loss to Dallas.

Key Points

San Jose Earthquakes’ last five: W/L/L/L/L

Portland Timbers’ last five: W/W/L/D/L

Key Stat: Portland have won the last three meetings in MLS between the two sides.

Key Player: Chris Wondolowski – ‘Wondo’ is back and extremely influential to the Earthquakes. Especially considering he has a total of nine goals so far this term.

Score Prediction

San Jose Earthquakes 1-1 Portland Timbers – Both sides are without a win in three and we expect a tight game which neither will want to lose. Score draw seems most likely.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Manchester United vs Arsenal

Competition: Premier League – Manchester United vs. Arsenal

Venue: Old Trafford – Sunday, May 17th – 16:00 BST (11:00 ET)

Match Odds: Man United 6/4 – Draw 23/10 – Arsenal 7/4

Match Preview

Manchester United entertain Arsenal on Sunday in a showdown fixture in the battle for third place. United are currently fourth on 68 points. Arsenal are two points ahead in third but have played a game less. If the Gunners win this one they cannot be caught by United and will therefore guarantee a top three finish.

United come into the game off the back of a 2-1 win away at Crystal Palace which ended their three game losing streak.

Louis Van Gaal’s men have all but secured Champions League football for next season but will do everything possible to avoid the burden of the qualifying rounds for finishing fourth, and a win against Arsenal would help them on their way to a top three finish.

Arsene Wenger has added importance to the tie and is hoping to ensure his side avoid the Champions League qualifiers early next season.

Arsenal come into this after suffering a shock defeat at home to Swansea City on Monday night which was their first loss in ten games.

The Gunners haven’t won at Old Trafford in the Premier League since 2006 and will be hoping to put an end to that run.

This game has the potential to be a classic and with so much at stake for both clubs it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

United fans will expect a result in their final home game of the campaign but Arsenal have already won there this season in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, though the Red Devils did win the reverse league fixture at the Emirates by the same scoreline.

Team News

United have suffered a huge blow as captain, Wayne Rooney, is set to miss out. Louis Van Gaal’s side have the longest injury list in the league with the likes of Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Rafael all set to miss out. Robin Van Persie could be in line to start against his former club but is currently unwell so his situation will be monitored over the weekend.

Embed from Getty Images

Arsenal have three injury concerns ahead of this one as Danny Welbeck, Mathieu Debuchy and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all ruled out. Wenger could be set to make a few changes after Monday’s performance against Swansea, but given that was a shock result he will not want to upset the balance of his side ahead of such a big game.

Key Points

Manchester United’s last five: W/L/L/L/W

Arsenal’s last five: W/W/D/W/L

Key Stat: It has been nine years since Wenger’s side won a league game at Old Trafford and he has a great chance to put that trend to bed this weekend.

Key Player: Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal’s goal-machine has the chance to stamp his mark on the Old Trafford faithful after a superb first season in England.

Embed from Getty Images

Score Prediction

Manchester United 2-2 Arsenal – A fixture which rarely fails to disappoint will live up to expectation this weekend. United’s injury woes will hamper their chances of winning and Wenger will not let his side blow their third spot easily. Expect goals but the shares may be spoiled with little to separate them.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Hull vs Arsenal

Competition: Premier League – Hull City vs. Arsenal

Venue: KC Stadium – Monday, May 4th – 20:00 BST (15:00 ET)

Match Odds: Hull 4/1 – Draw 11/4 – Arsenal 3/4

Match Preview

Hull City host Arsenal in this week’s Monday night fixture in a game which is of equal importance for both sides but for opposite reasons.

Hull sit just a point above the relegation zone following the weekend’s fixtures and will need to give themselves breathing space sooner rather than later as sides around them are picking up points.

Having won their last two matches without conceding a goal, Steve Bruce’s men will feel confident they can deliver some more points on Monday night against the Gunners.

Hull City’s home record in the Premier League: P16 – W5 – D4 – L7

Arsenal’s title dreams are over after Chelsea won the league on Sunday, but Arsene Wenger’s side will still need to maintain their current form as they look to secure an automatic Champions League place.

Arsenal haven’t lost a league game since early February, and run of nine games, and have won their last four on the road. They also have a place in the FA Cup final once again as they look to retain their trophy so there is lots to play for.

Embed from Getty Images

Arsenal will be overwhelming favourites to win here seeing as they are undefeated in their last nine meetings with Hull, winning eight of those.

The Tigers drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture back in October but lost at the Emirates in the FA Cup in January.

Arsenal’s away record in the Premier League: P17 – W9 – D3 – L5

Hull come into the game off the back of a 1-0 win against Liverpool last Tuesday and will be hoping to seal all three points in this one too.

Team News

Hull City: Andrew Robertson and Robert Snodgrass are both out. There will be late fitness tests for Mohamed Diame, Nikica Jelavic and Curtis Davies. But Steve Bruce looks set to name the same team for a third straight week.

Arsenal: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is out. Mathieu Debuchy, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are all doubts. Danny Welbeck and Gabriel could come into the side.

Key Points

Hull’s last five: L/L/L/W/W

Arsenal’s last five: W/W/W/W/D

Key Stat: The last time Hull beat Arsenal at home was April 1915. Can they end a 100 year wait on Monday?

Key Player: Alexis Sanchez – The superstar winger has had a superb season so far and he might prove to be the difference once again.

Embed from Getty Images

Score Prediction

Hull City 0-3 Arsenal – The Gunners to prove too strong for Hull as they pick up another win to move five points clear of United in fourth. Hull need points but this one will be too much of a challenge and they’ll be looking to next weekend’s meeting with Burnley for points.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Chelsea

Competition: Premier League – Arsenal FC vs. Chelsea FC

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Sunday, April 26th – 16:00 BST (11:00 ET)

Match Odds: Arsenal 11/8 – Draw 11/5 – Chelsea 21/10

Match Preview

Arsenal and Chelsea meet in arguably the biggest game of the Premier League season at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon, with Arsenal’s faint hopes of a title dependant on the outcome of this game.

Any game between these London rivals is fiery as both sets of fans want to come away with a victory, but the Gunners know that three points in this one will leave them seven behind the leaders with five games to go.

Arsene Wenger‘s side have been in incredible form of late and booked their place in the FA Cup final with an extra-time win against Reading at Wembley last weekend as they hope to retain their trophy.

In the league, they are in the best form of any side, having won their last eight on the bounce and have now won their last nine at home in the league too.

The visit of Jose Mourinho‘s Chelsea will likely be their toughest test of the season though and Wenger will have to try and beat the Portuguese head coach for the first time in his career if the Gunners are to be celebrating at full time.

The Blues have not looked as dominant as they did through the early stages of the season but have still won four on the bounce and have not lost since their last visit to North London as Spurs beat them 5-3 on New Years Day.

Mourinho is an expert at setting his sides up to avoid defeat in the big games and he showed that against last weekend in the 1-0 win against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Embed from Getty Images

Chelsea frustrated Arsenal in last season’s meeting at the Emirates as the game ended 0-0 and a similar scoreline could be on the cards in this one, unless the Gunners can overpower the Blues defence.

Chelsea have not conceded the first goal in any of their 20 games in all competitions in 2015 so if Arsenal can find the net first, things could be interesting.

Team News

Arsenal look set to be without two players as Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is set to miss out with a groin strain, while Per Mertesacker is a doubt with an ankle problem, but will face a late fitness test. Gabriel Paulista will play in defence alongside Laurent Koscielny if Mertesacker is out, while Hector Bellerin is expected to return to right-back after Mathieu Debuchy started against Reading last week.

Embed from Getty Images

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could travel to the Emirates without a recognised striker as Didier Drogba (ankle), Loic Remy (calf) and Diego Costa (hamstring) are all doubts. Costa could make an unlikely return to the side but that could be too much of a risk. Kurt Zouma is expected to keep his place in midfield after performing well against Marouane Fellaini last Saturday.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five: W/W/W/W/W

Chelsea’s last five: D/W/W/W/W

Key Stat: Arsenal have won more points than any other Premier League side in 2015 so far but haven’t beaten Chelsea in their last seven games against their London rivals.

Embed from Getty Images

Key Player: Olivier Giroud – The French striker has scored 10 in his last 12 in all competitions and Arsenal fans will hope he can provide the difference in this one.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 0-1 Chelsea – Many are expecting the Arsenal title charge to keep rolling with what would be a huge victory against Chelsea but it’s tough to see that happening. Jose Mourinho has never lost to Arsene Wenger and he is the best coach in the world when it comes to closing up to avoid defeat. Expect them to sit deep and look to break late in the game.

Premier League Predictions: Gameweek 34 – Liverpool, City and United to win

A full weekend of Premier League action means it’s time for another member of the MLSGB team to try and predict the outcomes of all ten games.

Last weekend saw Jamie Ives predict the correct result in two of the seven matches with one perfect score prediction.

It’s time for Lewis Addley to have a go and unravelling Gameweek 34’s action, as drama at either end of the Premier League table is set to continue this week.

Saturday, April 25th (All kickoffs are 15:00 unless otherwise stated)

Southampton vs. Tottenham Hotspur (12:45)

Embed from Getty Images

Both these sides are still chasing a Champions League spot. The Saints have been solid at home this season and narrowly lost the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane. With just a point separating the sides in 6th and 7th, neither can afford to lose any ground in their push for Europe’s top competition.

Prediction: Southampton 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Burnley vs. Leicester City

Embed from Getty Images

Arguably the most important fixture of the weekend as these two will slog it out in their ongoing relegation battle.

Burnley are at the foot of the table, while Leicester are two points above in 18th, and a win for either of these sides would be a huge step towards safety.

Prediction: Burnley 1-1 Leicester City

Crystal Palace vs. Hull City

Embed from Getty Images
Palace have been a rejuvenated side since Alan Pardew took over and he has steadied them into mid-table. Steve Bruce’s Hull are fighting for their Premier League status and are on 28 points in 17th, so a loss for them will make things very difficult in the run in and they can easily slip back into the bottom three depending on other results this week.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Hull City

Newcastle United vs. Swansea City

Embed from Getty Images
The Swans have had an impressive season and barring a disastrous final five games they should easily finish in the top ten. There isn’t much to say about Newcastle’s shambolic season. The Toon Army should stay up given they are seven points above the relegation zone, but they will want the end of the season to come as quickly as possible to rebuild for next campaign.

Prediction: Newcastle United 2-2 Swansea City

Queens Park Rangers vs. West Ham United

Embed from Getty Images

The first of two London derbies this weekend. Sam Allardyce has done a fine job of keeping West Ham in mid-table this season and will be expecting another tough game this weekend. QPR are in the relegation slog and sit 19th, so Chris Ramsey needs his side to take all three points here. Loftus Road is never an easy place to go and this one could be fiery with so much at stake for The R’s.

Prediction: Queens Park Rangers 2-1 West Ham United

Stoke City vs. Sunderland

Embed from Getty Images
Mark Hughes will be pushing his side to finish as high as possible in the league in the remaining five games. Sunderland are definitely in the relegation fight and on 29 points need to put some distance between them and the four sides below them.

Prediction: Stoke City 2-1 Sunderland

West Bromwich Albion vs. Liverpool

Embed from Getty Images

West Brom look as if they have done enough to retain their Premier League status for next season. This game has far more importance for Liverpool and after their disappointing FA Cup semi-final performance last weekend at Wembley they have to keep the pressure on Manchester City in fourth if they stand any chance of playing Champions League football next season.

Prediction: West Bromwich Albion 1-3 Liverpool

Manchester City vs. Aston Villa (17:30)

Embed from Getty Images

Tim Sherwood has bought Villa back from the dead this season and has now guided them to the FA Cup final, which nobody would have predicted. He clearly has the dressing room behind him and looks as if he should keep this side up. By stark contrast, Manuel Pellegrini’s season has gone from bad to worse. His City side are now fighting to keep a Champions League place when they should be fighting for the title. Although this should be a City win it could be the surprise result of the weekend.

Prediction: Manchester City 3-2 Aston Vila

Sunday, April 26th

Everton vs. Manchester United (13:30)

Embed from Getty Images

Manchester United could finish the weekend in second place if Sunday afternoon’s game between Arsenal and Chelsea goes their way. Louis Van Gaal has got his side playing well and they will be force next season. Roberto Martinez’s side will be disappointed with their season and finishing mid-table is not what they would have been hoping for. The Europa League was clearly a distraction and we can expect to see a better Everton side again without it next campaign.

Prediction: Everton 1-3 Manchester United

Arsenal vs. Chelsea (16:00)

Embed from Getty Images

This is the standout fixture of the weekend but we can’t be expecting too much from this game. Jose Mourinho has never lost to Arsene Wenger as Chelsea boss and given how defensive his side have been over the last few weeks we can expect them to set up not to lose. Any chance Arsenal have on challenging Chelsea for the title lays on this game, but it looks a little too late.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Burnley vs Arsenal

Competition: Premier League – Burnley vs. Arsenal

Venue: Turf Moor – Saturday, April 12 – 17:30 BST (12:30 ET)

Match Odds: Burnley 5/1 – Draw 16/5 – Arsenal 8/15

Match Preview

Burnley host the in-form Arsenal in the Premier League‘s evening game at Turf Moor this Saturday as their battle against relegation continues.

Burnley have just one win in their last ten games, but it has to be noted that was against the champions Manchester City at Turf Moor and they come into this game off the back off a 0-0 draw against Tottenham.

The Clarets are currently sitting 19th in the Premier League table and are running out of time to save themselves from the drop.

Embed from Getty Images

With every team in the bottom five on the edge, their fight will still have many twists and turns but they have to start picking up points and it doesn’t come much tougher than this.

Arsenal are the in-form team in the league after winning their last seven on the bounce, which has made them Chelsea’s closest rivals for the title and they’ve pushed themselves up into second in the table.

Arsene Wenger‘s men have clicked into form at a vital stage of the season and this run will certainly help them attract big names in the summer.

Embed from Getty Images

Sean Dyche‘s men have to take the same approach to this tie as they did from their astonishing win over Man City almost a month ago and they need to make their home advantage count during this run-in if they are to stay up.

It should be a tough, hard-fought tie with both sides having so much to play for at this stage of the season.

Team News

Burnley are set to have five sidelined as Steven Reid, Ross Wallace, Dean Marney, Kevin Long and Matt Taylor are all recovering from injuries. Sean Dyche will be hoping forward George Boyd can produce another moment of magic to continue his latest stint of giant killing.

Embed from Getty Images

Arsenal will be without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Laurent Koscielny and Wojciech Szczęsny will be fighting to be fit following minor injuries. Wenger will need his goal-machine Olivier Giroud to keep the goals coming as he has seven in his last six. His partnership with Alexis Sanchez has proved to be a hit.

Key Points

Burnely’s last five: L/L/W/L/D

Arsenal’s last five: W/W/W/W/W

Key Stat: Winning Streak – Arsenal’s seven-game winning streak has seen them climb up into second and a push for the title is an aim even this late on. Their next game against Chelsea is possibly the biggest Premier League tie of the season.

Key Player: Olivier Giroud – An easy choice. Giroud is the man in form and now has a better strike-rate this season than fellow forward Alexis Sanchez. The Frenchman has notched an impressive 14 goals in 20 games.

Score Prediction

Burnley 1-3 Arsenal – Arsenal’s momentum will overpower a spirited Burnley side fighting for their Premier League status.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Newcastle vs Arsenal

Competition: Premier League – Newcastle United vs Arsenal

Venue: St James’ Park – Saturday, March 21 – 15:00 GMT (11:00 ET)

Match Odds: Newcastle 9/2 – Draw 3/1 – Arsenal 4/7

Match Preview

Newcastle battle Arsenal at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon as both sides are looking for vital Premier League wins with the international break looming.

A win for Newcastle will push them closer to a position in the top half of the table, whereas Arsenal are now in a battle for second with reigning champions Manchester City.

Newcastle take to Arsenal having only won only twice since the turn of the new year – a complete contrast to their opponents Arsenal, who have lost only twice since then.

The Magpies are bouncing back from a crushing 3-0 defeat at Everton last week, which would have knocked the stuffing out of them as they only managed a measly four shots-on-target compared to Everton’s nine.

Embed from Getty Images

Arsenal are coming off a superb win away at AS Monaco in the Champions League but have again failed at the last-16 hurdle for a fifth straight season.

A win for Arsenal would see them further grasp their hold on the top four position and with the form they are in at the moment, it’s easy to see why the Gunners are being tipped to finish in those all important Champions League places.

The reverse fixture at the Emirates Stadium in December saw Arsenal run out comfortable 4-1 winners over Newcastle with the red hot Olivier Giroud grabbing two goals along the way, with Santi Cazorla also contributing two.

Team News

Newcastle United will still be without Papiss Cisse who is serving a suspension. Captain Fabricio Coloccini begins his three-match ban following his sending off against Everton last weekend, while Cheick Tiote, Paul Dummett and Siem De Jong remain long term absentees, hampering Newcastle of key players heading into this one.

Arsenal also have a few injury concerns of their own with Alex Oxlade Chamberlain out, along with other notable injuries to former magpie Mathieu Debuchy who could return to training in a few weeks. Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere are still recovering so will be unavailable, but they could both be back before the end of the season.

Key Points

Newcastle United’s last five in the Premier League: D/L/W/L/L

Arsenal’s last five in the Premier League: W/W/W/W/W

Key Stat: Arsenal last lost to Newcastle in November 2010 thanks to a solitary Andy Carroll goal.

Key Player: Olivier Giroud – The Frenchman has five goals in his last five games against Newcastle.

Score Prediction

Newcastle 0-3 Arsenal – Olivier Giroud will spearhead the attack as Arsenal heap more misery on John Carver’s Toon Army in their own backyard.

FA Cup Preview and Prediction: Manchester United vs Arsenal

Competition: FA Cup Quarter-Final – Manchester United vs Arsenal

Venue: Old Trafford – Monday 9th March – 19:45 GMT (14:45 ET)

Match Odds: Man United 7/5 – Draw 5/2 – Arsenal 19/10

Match Preview

Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the final FA Cup quarter-final tie of the weekend on Monday night. With both sides fighting for a top four spot in the league, this tie acts as a happy distraction.

We’re expecting both Louis Van Gaal and Arsene Wenger to deploy full-strength sides as they both pursue the trophy. But both will be wary that any cup run must not affect their league form with just 10 games left.

Manchester United are the favorites heading into this one having won their last six meetings with Arsenal at Old Trafford in all competitions.

Embed from Getty Images

With United not playing in Europe this season there really is no excuse for them finishing outside the top four. And with the size of the club, United should be challenging on all fronts.

This is the furthest the Red Devils have got in the FA Cup for four seasons and both sides know that a place at Wembley is in line for whoever can advance to the semi-finals.

But with the injury to Robin Van Persie, are United strong enough to beat an Arsenal side that has won ten of their last twelve in all competitions?

Holders Arsenal will see this as a free hit. With a poor record at Old Trafford over the years (including an 8-2 drubbing in 2011), Arsenal are the underdogs in this tie.

Embed from Getty Images

Arsenal haven’t beaten Manchester United since May 2011, and will do well to break that run on Monday night in what will be a tough game, though a draw would earn the Gunners a replay at the Emirates.

Both sides boast some great attacking players, but can both be fragile defensively, so we’re expecting goals.

This will be the fourteenth FA Cup meeting between the two sides but Manchester United have dominated the most recent ties, winning the last two at Old Trafford without conceding a goal.

Team News

Manchester United: Luke Shaw (hamstring) and Robin Van Persie (ankle) are ruled out. Jonny Evans starts his six-match suspension so Phil Jones is likely to fill in at centre-back alongside Chris Smalling. Wayne Rooney is likely to continue playing as a striker in the absence of Van Persie.

Embed from Getty Images

Arsenal: Jack Wilshere (ankle), Mikel Arteta (ankle), Mathieu Flamini (hamstring), Mathieu Debuchy (shoulder) and Abou Diaby (calf) are all out. Gabriel Paulista (hamstring) is a doubt while Wojciech Szczesny and Nacho Monreal will face late fitness tests.Aaron Ramsey could return to the starting lineup while Olivier Giroud is set to play as the lone striker once again.

Key Points

Manchester United’s last five in all competitions: W/W/L/W/W

Arsenal’s last five in all competitions: W/W/L/W/W

Key Stat: Arsenal haven’t beaten Manchester United in the FA Cup in normal time since February 2003.

Key Player: Santi Cazorla – Since being deployed in a more central role, Cazorla has been sensational. Expect him to be key on Monday night.

Score Prediction

Manchester United 3-2 Arsenal – We’re expecting a high scoring affair and an instant classic that could set the tone for both teams going into the final stretch of the season. Home advantage should see United edge it.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Everton

Competition: Premier League – Arsenal vs Everton

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Sunday, March 1st – 14:05 (09:05 ET)

Match Odds: Arsenal 8/15 – Draw 3/1 – Everton 5/1

Match Preview

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon looking to continue their good run of form in the Premier League which has propelled them into third.

Everton haven’t won in three in the league but tasted European victory with a 3-1 win against BSC Young Boys on Thursday in the Europa League and will be looking to extend their unbeaten run against Arsenal to six games in the league. The two clubs drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park in August.

Embed from Getty Images

Arsenal come into the game off the back of a disappointing 3-1 loss to AS Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday at the Emirates. Outplayed by the French side, Arsenal will want to forget about it and secure the three points on Sunday in front of their own fans.

With eight wins in ten in all competitions, Arsenal are still in a good run of form and are on course for yet another top four finish despite the fierce competition for Champions League football at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal’s Premier League home record: Played 12 – Won 8 – Drawn 3 – Lost 1

Interestingly, Arsenal have scored first in their last six Premier League games, and they could do with a fast start against the Toffees to settle any nerves.

Everton cannot be underestimated this weekend though as they could bring their European form to the Premier League and cause an upset on Sunday.

Embed from Getty Images

Everton will be buoyant after their two-legged demolition of Young Boys as they won 7-2 on aggregate and Roberto Martinez’s men will want to snatch all three points come the weekend.

Everton’s Premier League away record: Played 13 – Won 3 – Drawn 3 – Lost 7

It has been a poor season for Everton compared to last, and the league table proves that as they sit in twelfth after 26 games and are just six points off the relegation zone.

Their Premier League form dictates the reason for this as they have only registered one win in their last ten matches.

Team News

Arsenal – Mathieu Debuchy (shoulder) and Mikel Arteta (ankle) are still not match fit and Jack Wilshere has undergone surgery for ankle discomfort. Aaron Ramsey could return to the side as he nears a return from a hamstring injury while Arsene Wenger could drop David Ospina, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud after poor performances against Monaco on Wednesday.

Embed from Getty Images

Everton – Aiden McGeady is still sidelined with a knee injury while Steven Pienaar (Knee), Leon Osman (foot) and Bryan Oviedo (hamstring) will also miss out. Gareth Barry returns from suspension and is likely to start along with Leighton Baines who was rested for the midweek game against Young Boys.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five in the Premier League: WWLWW

Everton’s last five in the Premier League: DWDLD

Key Stat: Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 20 meetings at home to Everton in all competitions. Their last home defeat to the Toffees came 19 years ago.

Key Player: Alexis Sanchez – Summer transfer sensation, Sanchez has been a revelation for Arsenal this season and at times has got them out of massive holes on his own. Expect him to be the difference once again.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 2-1 Everton – No shocks in this one, Everton will put up a good fight but expect Arsenal to get back to winning ways with their seventh straight league win at the Emirates.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham vs Arsenal

Competition: Premier League

Venue: White Hart Lane – Saturday, February 7 – 12:45PM

Match Odds: Tottenham 21/10 – Draw 13/5 – Arsenal 23/20

Tottenham. Arsenal. It’s the North London Derby and both sides come into the game in strong form and know a win is even more important than usual in the latest episode of this intense rivalry.

Spurs currently sit in sixth in the Premier League and are just two points behind the Gunners who sit one place higher in fifth. Both sides know that a win could propel them into the top four and both will be looking for a victory in this one.

Mauricio Pochettino has seen Spurs lose just one of their last nine in the league, in that 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace last month, and has seen the club’s fortunes at home improve as they are unbeaten in six at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham’s home record in the Premier League: Played 12 – Won 6 – Drawn 2 – Lost 4

Arsenal are in just as good form as they have only lost one of their last eight in the Premier League and have now recorded three straight league wins, beating Aston Villa 5-0 last time out.

Embed from Getty Images

However we all know form goes out of the window in games as big as this one and Arsenal will be looking to record back-to-back league wins at White Hart Lane after winning 1-0 last season.

Arsenal’s away record in the Premier League: Played 12 – Won 5 – Drawn 3 – Lost 4

The reverse fixture back in September ended 1-1 in a tight game that was closely contested throughout and you can expect Saturday’s clash to be just as nervy for both sets of supporters.

Arsenal will be without star man and top goalscorer Alexis Sanchez as Arsene Wenger has confirmed the Chilean has not recovered from a hamstring injury in time.

That’s a major blow for the Gunners as he has three goals and two assists in his last four games in all competitions. Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Mathieu Debuchy and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also remain out.

Tottenham vs Arsenal Predicted Lineups

Predicted lineups for Spurs and Arsenal (via Lineupbuilder.com)

Spurs are more fortunate on the injury front as they are the only side in the Premier League without a player in the treatment room. Nabil Bentaleb has returned from the African Cup of Nations with Algeria and could be in line for a start if he is fit enough to play.

Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane will look to provide the spark for Spurs again as the pair have scored five goals between them in Tottenham’s last two outings.

Tottenham’s last five in the Premier League: D/W/L/W/W

Arsenal’s last five in the Premier League: W/L/W/W/W

Key Stat: Spurs have won just one of the last seven North London Derby’s in the Premier League and FA Cup combined.

Key Player: Christian Eriksen – The Danish playmaker has been in tremendous form and he is the man who Spurs will look to if they are to win this one.

Score Prediction: Tottenham 2–2 Arsenal – Neither side can afford to lose this.
