United, City and Arsenal to battle for £20m German star – report

Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are set for a three-way transfer battle for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this summer, according to the Daily Star.

The 24-year-old German has just one year remaining on his current Dortmund contract and is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League, with three of the countries top sides interested in securing his services.

Gundogan is valued at £20 million, and City believe they can steal a march on their rivals by offering misfiring striker Edin Dzeko to Dortmund in a swap deal.

New Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel, who will take over from the outgoing Jurgen Klopp this summer, is an admirer of Dzeko’s and that could see Gundogan seal a move to City.

Arsenal are known to have had long-term interest in the German midfielder who has nine caps for his country, but could be beaten to his signature by one of the Manchester clubs.

United are closing in on a £21.5 million deal, according to Sky Sports, as the race for Gundogan looks set to heat up with the season drawing to a close.

He has struggled with injuries in the past few years but has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals with four assists.

Klopp is being strongly linked with the Manchester City job and if the Dortmund coach is to move to the Etihad this summer, Gundogan will be expected to follow him.

Where will Ilkay Gundogan move this summer? Who needs him most – Manchester City, Manchester United or Arsenal?

Midfield star dismisses Spurs link as Arsenal legend urges move

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has cooled talk of a Premier League switch to Tottenham this summer, while Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has encouraged Arsene Wenger to make a move for the French star.

The 25-year-old holding midfielder has continued to impress with the Saints this season despite a preseason filled with rumours of an exit to either Spurs or Arsenal, with Southampton unwilling to sanction a sale.

And although both clubs are still linked with the powerful midfield enforcer, a move to Spurs does not look likely as Schneiderlin has revealed the “page is turned” with regard to former boss Mauricio Pochettino, whose Spurs team travel to St Mary’s to face the Saints this Saturday.

“He’s a great manager, we achieved great things last year but the page is turned,” he told BBC Radio Solent.

Schneiderlin’s comments would suggest a reunion with the Argentine coach is unlikely, paving the way for a fresh Arsenal approach in the coming months, something Ray Parlour would love to see.

The former Gunners midfielder has stated that the Saints man would be a “perfect” signing despite the latest reports suggesting a move is unlikely because of Francis Coquelin’s emergence.

“I’ve watched him a few times this year at St. Mary’s, and against Chelsea. I thought he did a great job in front of the back four,” Parlour is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

“Defensively, he is tactically very good. When the ball goes wide you can see him dropping into the back two to make a three. So when balls are going in there’s an extra defender there – Gilberto Silva did that during the unbeaten season.

“He knows the Premier League, he’s not got to settle and would be perfect for Arsenal in that midfield area.”

Schneiderlin has two years remaining on his current Southampton deal and would cost more than £25 million if a move is made in the next few months.

Would Morgan Schneiderlin be the perfect signing for Arsenal this summer?

Arsenal looking to beat Spurs to promising Argentina star – report

Arsenal have joined North London rivals Tottenham in the chase for young River Plate defender Emanuel Mammana, according to reports in Italy.

The 19-year-old defender can play at either right-back or centre-back and has already earned one cap for the Argentina national side.

He is highly regarded in his home country and has made six appearances for the River Plate first-team this season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to further strengthen his backline this summer and could make a move for Mammana, despite interest from Spurs, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has already signed one Argentine defender since joining the club last summer as he brought in Federico Fazio, and he is keen on bringing in Mammana too after sending scouts to watch him play for the Argentina Under-20’s earlier this year.

Though Atletico Madrid could end up being his destination as he currently plays with Diego Simeone’s son, Giovanni, at both River Plate and the national side.

Do Arsenal and Spurs need to strengthen their defences this summer? Should they make a move for Emanuel Mammana?

Chelsea lining up SHOCK move for Arsenal superstar – report

Mesut Ozil is being linked with a summer exit from Arsenal despite rediscovering his form over recent months, and a move to Chelsea is being suggested by Fichajes.net.

The 26-year-old German playmaker joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in a £42.5 million deal two years ago but has continuously come under criticism for his performances.

Ozil has four goals and five assists in 15 Premier League appearances this season and helped the Gunners past Reading in their FA Cup semi-final on Saturday with two assists, pushing Arsenal to their second successive final in the competition.

But Fichajes claim that Ozil could link up with former coach Jose Mourinho at Chelsea this summer in what would be a shock transfer.

The German was signed by Mourinho at Real Madrid and only left the Spanish giants after the Portuguese head coach moved back to the Premier League with Chelsea.

The Arsenal star has a lot of respect for Mourinho, while the Chelsea boss has always heaped praise on the German. He previously explained that: “Ozil is unique. There is no copy of him – not even a bad copy.”

A summer switch from Arsenal to Chelsea is unlikely as the Gunners would not want to see any of their best players move to their London rivals.

But the Blues may be looking to Ozil if the likes of Oscar move on this summer as a central playmaker will be needed to reinforce the league leaders’ attack.

Would Mesut Ozil leave Arsenal for Chelsea? Should the Blues make a move for the German playmaker?

Arsenal to offer midfield target HUGE £25m contract to secure deal

Arsenal will have to offer Manchester City and England midfielder, James Milner, a huge four-year deal worth around £25 million if they are to beat off competition from other clubs to his signature this summer.

Milner’s current City deal is worth around £120,000-a-week but with that set to expire in the summer, his future at the club is still unclear and an exit is looking likely.

The 29-year-old midfield ace has reportedly turned down a three-year extension worth £80,000-a-week as he wants to remain on similar wages and so he could be on the move.

Liverpool, Valencia, Inter Milan and Arsenal have all been linked with the versatile midfield star and the Gunners will have to offer him a four-year deal if they are to beat those clubs to his services, according to the Evening Standard.

A four-year contract on £120,000 per week would see Milner earn £24,960,000 – a staggering amount for a player that wouldn’t be guaranteed regular first team football under Arsene Wenger.

City are still trying to negotiate a new deal with the former Aston Villa and Newcastle man but failure to reach an agreement could see Milner make the move to London with the Gunners.

Morgan Schneiderlin is Wenger’s priority target this summer but Southampton want more than £25 million for the Frenchman and so Arsenal could look to Milner, who wouldn’t cost a transfer fee with his contract up at the end of June.

Should Arsenal sign James Milner? Would he better off staying with Manchester City?

Arsenal linked with summer move for £20m midfield star

Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for £20 million-rated Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to The Metro.

Gundogan is being targeted by Arsenal and Manchester United despite reports suggesting Dortmund want to sign him down to a new deal. But a move to the Premier League could be favourable as Dortmund are struggling to make the Champions League, sitting 10th in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of Europe’s top rated players, including the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, as manager Arsene Wenger is again expected to dip into the clubs funds this summer in an attempt to further strengthen the team to challenge for the Premier League title.

Gundogan has made 18 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, scoring three times with three assists, and at 24 could be an ideal replacement for Jack Wilshere, who has been linked with a move away from the club.

The German international already has a wealth of experience and after losing the 2013 Champions League final, will be hungry for success as his time in Germany could be drawing to a close.

Arsenal reportedly had an £18.4 million bid rejected in January but Dortmund’s poor season could see a move develop with the Gunners looking to be a strong force in Europe once again.

Is Ilkay Gundogan the right man for Arsenal and do they need sign the midfielder?

Arsenal and Liverpool to battle for £21m Real Madrid midfield ace

Arsenal and Liverpool look set to battle it out for the signing of Real Madrid midfielder, Asier Illarramendi, with the Premier League rivals both plotting a move for the £21 million-rated Spaniard, according to Spanish reports.

Illarramendi has struggled to nail down a regular place in the Madrid midfield since joining from Real Sociedad for £23 million in 2013, and he has had to settle for just seven league starts this season.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has had enough and wants a move away from the Liga BBVA giants this summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool are joined by his former club Sociedad, who are now managed by David Moyes, in pursuit of the Champions League winner as a transfer tussle looks to be on the cards.

The Gunners have needed a strong holding midfield player for several years and are being linked with moves for the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Sami Khedira and now Illarramendi as another big summer spend is likely.

Liverpool are also being linked with moves for several midfielders as Steven Gerrard is on his way to MLS with LA Galaxy, and so Brendan Rodgers will need reinforcements.

Illarramendi is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League and could get his wish if either Arsenal or Liverpool are willing to pay more than £20 million for his services.

Would Asier Illarramendi be a good signing for Arsenal or Liverpool? Which club needs him more?

Arsenal to let Wilshere go to fund £27m move for Premier League star – report

Arsenal are willing to let England international Jack Wilshere leave the club this summer to fund a move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Daily Mail.

Wilshere has struggled with injuries again this season, making just nine Premier League appearances, and could be on his way out of the Emirates with Manchester City keen on a move.

City want to revamp their ageing midfield this summer and have lined up Wilshere as an ideal acquisition, along with Ross Barkley and Jordan Henderson.

The 23-year-old midfielder joined the Arsenal academy in 2001 and has been at the club for 14 years, but would struggle to force his way back into the current team, and so a big-money move could come at the right time for the Gunners.

The sale of Wilshere would free up a move for Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin, who is looking likely to depart this summer if the Saints fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Schneiderlin was a target of both Arsenal and Spurs last year, and although the Saints were able to hold on to the defensive midfield enforcer for the season, a bid in excess of £27 million could be enough to sign the French international this time around.

Arsene Wenger has long needed a solid holding midfielder to strengthen the Arsenal team and Schneiderlin could be the ideal candidate, especially given his Premier League experience.

The 25 year old has made 24 league appearances this campaign, scoring three goals with one assist and could be replacing Wilshere in the Gunners’ side next season.

Arsenal and Liverpool chasing £40m starlet dubbed the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’

Arsenal and Liverpool have been quoted a £40 million asking price for Benfica starlet Goncalo Guedes, according to the Express.

Guedes is being monitored by both Premier League clubs after an impressive season, making 26 appearances for the reserve team, scoring seven goals and racking up 12 assists.

The 18-year-old looked set to leave the club on a free transfer last summer but Benfica have tied him down until 2021 and have included a £40 million release clause, according to Portuguese publication O Jogo.

Guedes is known for pace, trickery and flare – hence his likening to Ronaldo – and is the same age as his Portuguese counterpart when he signed for Manchester United back in 2003.

The news of his huge release clause comes as a huge blow to both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers, who were seemingly going to have the chance of signing the Portugal under-20 star on a free if they had made a move just eight months earlier.

The Benfica winger is one of the hottest prospects in Europe at the moment but a move this summer looks unlikely now as he has a long-term deal with the Portuguese giants, and he will be looking to break into the first-team.

Should Arsenal and Liverpool still make a move for Goncalo Guedes for £40 million?

Arsenal set to miss out on £10m Chelsea star as Inter move nears

Arsenal‘s pursuit of Petr Cech looks set to end in disappointment as the Chelsea goalkeeper is close to signing for Serie A outfit Inter Milan, according to the Express.

The Chelsea fan-favourite looks set to end his 11-year love affair with the Blues this summer after a frustrating season playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.

Arsenal has been a rumoured destination for the Czech Republic international but that move looks all but over as Italian reports claim Cech is close to agreeing a deal that will see him join Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan.

Corriere dello Sport reported on the move for Cech from Inter, claiming the Nerazzurri will offer the 32-year-old shot-stopper a two-year deal with the option of a third.

It is also reported that current Inter keeper, Samir Handanovic, is refusing to sign a new contract with the club, further fuelling speculation of a move for Cech.

Cech has won an impressive 14 trophies with Chelsea during his 11 years in England and played a pivotal role in their Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich in 2012, so his experience is at the very highest level.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Southampton have all been linked with a move for the Chelsea star, who Jose Mourinho values at £10 million but Inter Milan looks to be his next destination.
