Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham vs West Brom

Competition: Premier League – Tottenham vs. West Bromwich Albion

Venue: White Hart Lane – Saturday, January 14 – 12:30 GMT (07:30 ET)

Match Odds: Spurs 30/100 – Draw 4/1 – West Brom 10/1

Match Preview

Spurs welcome West Brom to White Hart Lane in Saturday’s early kickoff in the Premier League, with the home side looking to stretch their winning run to six league games.

Tottenham beat Chelsea 2-0 in their most recent Premier League game, before then beating Aston Villa in the FA Cup Third Round by the same scoreline.

Mauricio Pochettino will be delighted with the way his side are performing of late, and particularly Dele Alli after watching the 20-year-old midfielder score six times in his last three starts.

A win over West Brom on Saturday would see Spurs move into second before Liverpool play Manchester United on Sunday, and that will undoubtedly be the aim.

The Baggies arrive at Spurs off the back of a two-game winning run after beating Southampton and Hull in their last two league games.

They did, however, crash out of the FA Cup after losing 2-1 at home to Derby last Saturday and Tony Pulis will be desperate to see his players respond with a better showing here.

The Baggies have drawn each of the last three games with Spurs 1-1. A dramatic ending to the clash at the Hawthorns back in October saw both sides score in the final eight minutes.

Team News

Spurs only have one player ruled out of the contest, with Erik Lamela still a week away from a return to action after struggling with a hip injury. Mauricio Pochettino’s biggest decision will be what formation to deploy from the outset, with the 3-4-3 setup working well against Watford and Chelsea in their last two league games.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis is set to be without four players for the trip to Spurs. Saido Berahino is short of match fitness, while Allan Nyom could be unavailable as a result of refusing to play for Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament. Chris Brunt and Jonny Evans are both doubts and may miss the game.

Key Points

Tottenham’s last five: W/W/W/W/W

West Brom’s last five: W/L/L/W/W

Key Stat: Spurs have only won one of their last seven games against West Brom, drawing five times against the Baggies in that time, with the last three meetings ending 1-1.

Key Player: Dele Alli – The Spurs midfielder is in the form of his life. He’s scored a brace in his last three Premier League outings – becoming the first midfielder to do so in the competition – and has scored twice in three previous clashes with the Baggies. Expect him to be causing the West Brom defence problems again here.

Score Prediction

Tottenham 2-1 West Brom – Spurs have struggled to get wins against the Baggies in recent times and another tough test is expected in Saturday’s early kickoff. But Tottenham have looked resurgent in recent weeks and their 2-0 win over Chelsea was arguably their best result of the season. They should follow that up with another three points against a West Brom side that has struggled against the big sides this term.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Crystal Palace vs West Bromwich Albion

Competition: Premier League – Crystal Palace vs. West Bromwich Albion

Venue: Selhurst Park – Saturday, October 3 – 12:45 BST (07:45 ET)

Match Odds: Crystal Palace 4/5 – Draw 5/2 – West Bromwich Albion 7/2

Match Preview

Crystal Palace host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon in a clash which sees Tony Pulis return to his old stomping ground, Selhurst Park with the Baggies.

Palace will want defer from their current form as they have only managed one win in their last three after a solid start which saw them sit second in the league early on.

Playing without a registered striker, Palace have suffered without the outlet of a natural forward and Bakary Sako (despite his great form) isn’t the answer in the search for an ideal lone frontman.

Crystal Palace’s record in the Premier League: P7 – W4 – D0 – L3

Tony Pulis’ return to Selhurst Park will be the main draw from this clash as much has been said about who has done a better job at Palace, Pulis or Alan Pardew.

Boasting a great managerial record, Pulis has succeeded where ever he has been and Palace was no different. However, he has struggled to get West Brom to the level they should be operating at so far this term.

West Brom’s record in the Premier League: P7 – W2 – D2 – L3

Suffering with inconsistency, Pulis won’t suffer relegation with West Brom, but a top half finish is a fair way away at the moment.

A win in south London on Saturday would certainly be a huge boost for the Baggies and they will take confidence from the 2-0 win there back in April.

Team News

Crystal Palace are missing up to six players, with Damien Delaney, Mile Jedinak, Joel Ward, Connor Wickham, Marouane Chamakh and Kwesi Appiah all likely to miss out.

West Brom are without Ben Foster as he is still recovering from a serious knee injury. Gareth McAuley is a doubt with a leg injury but could be fit to start. Jonas Olsson is a doubt with an ankle problem.

Key Points

Crystal Palace’s last five: W/W/L/L/W

West Brom’s last five: L/W/D/W/L

Key Stat: West Brom have kept a clean sheet in five of their last seven away matches.

Key Player: Saido Berahino – With two goals in two, the English forward has forced himself back into the West Brom side after his summer transfer saga and will be important if the Baggies are to pick up points here.

Score Prediction

Crystal Palace 1-0 West Brom – We’re not expecting much from this affair in terms of goals as it should be a tight encounter. West Brom are good at defending as a unit and Palace are not frightened to attack in numbers. Though we see the home side just edging a low scoring affair in front of their own fans.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs West Brom

Competition: Premier League – Arsenal vs. West Bromwich Albion

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Sunday, May 24 – 15:00 BST (10:00 ET)

Match Odds: Arsenal 4/11 – Draw 4/1 – West Brom 13/2

Match Preview

Arsenal host West Brom on the final weekend of the Premier League season with both sides knowing they have very little to play for.

Arsenal have all but secured third spot after their 0-0 draw with Sunderland on Wednesday means that just a draw will be enough to seal a top three finish this weekend.

The Gunners cannot finish second but Arsene Wenger will be hoping his side can finish a fine season with a win ahead of the FA Cup final next weekend.

Arsenal have not won in their last three and lost just their second home game of the season to Arsenal a fortnight ago, so it’s important they try and end with victory in their last league game of the campaign.

West Brom are in much better form than their opponents, after going unbeaten through their last five, including a 3-0 win against the champions Chelsea last Monday.

The Baggies lost the corresponding fixture 1-0 at home to Arsenal in November and have not beaten the Gunners in their last nine meetings in all competitions.

They have been excellent under Tony Pulis this term and have only lost two of their last nine away games in the league, and will be hoping to end the season on a high.

Team News

Arsene Wenger will rest a few first-team players ahead of the FA Cup final and so some fringe players could see action. Danny Welbeck is ruled out once again, while Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mathieu Debuchy remain doubts. Nacho Monreal could return at left-back after missing the midweek game against Sunderland.

West Brom have just one injury concern as Ben Foster will be out again. Tony Pulis could name an unchanged lineup for this one after seeing such a good performance against Chelsea last time out.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five: D/W/L/D/D

West Brom’s last five: W/D/W/D/W

Key Stat: Arsenal are unbeaten in 34 of their last 36 home matches in the Premier League.

Key Player: Saido Berahino – The young Englishman scored twice against Chelsea and will want to impress against quality opposition once again ahead of this summer’s Under-21 European Championship.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 1-1 West Brom – Arsenal will be resting star players and won’t be at their strongest, but the Baggies will be a real threat regardless in this end of season clash. Expect this to be tight as a draw looks like it could be on the cards.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Manchester United vs West Brom

Competition: Premier League – Manchester United vs. West Bromwich Albion

Venue: Old Trafford – Saturday, May 2nd – 17:30 BST (12:30 ET)

Match Odds: Man United 4/11 – Draw 4/1 – West Brom 7/1

Match Preview

Manchester United host West Brom in this weekend’s Saturday night fixture in the Premier League, with the Red Devils looking to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats for the first time this campaign.

Louis Van Gaal has watched his side lose 1-0 at Chelsea and most recently 3-0 at Everton over the past two weeks and he will be desperate to see his side return to winning ways on their return to Old Trafford on Saturday.

United were on a six-game win streak before the loss at Chelsea and so it’s important the players find their feet quickly as the club look to confirm their place in the top four.

Returning to the Champions League is crucial for United and they know six points from their last four games will ensure that is the case. Fans will hope that their penultimate home game against West Brom can deliver three of those points.

The Baggies travel to Manchester in poor form, with just one win in five, and they are not safe from relegation just yet, despite the excellent job Tony Pulis has done since taking over earlier in the season.

West Brom are seven points clear of the drop zone, and are highly unlikely to go down, but they will want to reach that 40 point mark as soon as possible to calm any remaining fears.

They are already one point better off than they ended last season but supporters will want to end the campaign on a high and will be hoping for another memorable trip to Old Trafford.

The Baggies beat United in this fixture last season, winning away at English football’s most successful club for the first time since 1978, and they have now only lost one of their last four meetings with the Red Devils so this looks nicely poised.

Team News

United may be without captain, Wayne Rooney, as the attacker is a doubt for the game after picking up an injury at Everton last week. While Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Rafael will all miss out. Robin Van Persie is in line to start, though Radamel Falcao is likely to be given the nod, with Van Persie coming off the bench. Jonny Evans is available again but Paddy McNair is likely to start alongside Chris Smalling again in this one.

The Baggies travel to Old Trafford without much to worry about on the injury front. Ben Foster is the only player sidelined as the goalkeeper continues to recover from his knee injury so Boas Myhill will start in goal once again. Saido Berahino has scored in two of the last three meetings with United and will likely lead the attack alongside Victor Anichebe on Saturday.

Key Points

Manchester United’s last five: W/W/W/L/L

West Brom’s last five: L/L/L/W/D

Key Stat: Goals! The last four meetings between these two have produced 20 goals – an average of five per game, so this should deliver excitement.

Key Player: Marouane Fellaini – The big Belgian midfielder has been in fine form at Old Trafford in recent weeks and has scored in two of United’s last three at home. Expect him to cause all kinds of problems for the Baggies defence in this one.

Score Prediction

Manchester United 3-2 West Brom – When these two clash there are usually goals and it should be no different on Saturday night. United have failed to score in their last two outings and will be desperate to return to winning ways with a strong performance in front of their own fans. They can be expected to win it, but the Baggies will put up a fight.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Crystal Palace vs West Brom

Competition: Premier League – Crystal Palace vs. West Bromwich Albion

Venue: Selhurst Park – Saturday, April 18th – 15:00 BST (10:00 ET)

Match Odds: Crystal Palace 10/11 – Draw 12/5 – West Brom 3/1

Match Preview

Crystal Palace take on West Brom on Saturday afternoon as Alan Pardew’s soaring Eagles face off against Tony Pulis’ Baggies at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace are in a terrific run of form, with four wins on the bounce, while West Brom have suffered three consecutive defeats, including a morale damaging loss at home to fellow relegation rivals Leicester City.

The Baggies have conceded 10 in their last three Premier League games and Pulis needs to shore up the backline quickly if they are to keep out of the relegation zone.

Since Alan Pardew’s appointment, Palace have been fantastic in the league, winning eight of his twelve games in charge, suffering three defeats and drawing just the once. They have shown the form of a team chasing those all important Champions League places and look to be in great shape.

Goals have won those matches and critics and pundits alike have been impressed with the Palace forward line that boasts the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Wilfried Zaha and Glenn Murray. Murray and Bolasie both put in incredible performances at Sunderland last weekend and will look to pick up where they left off against the Baggies.

The game at the Stadium of Light saw Bolasie hit an 11-minute hat-trick, becoming the first Palace player to net three in a game in the Premier League, with Glenn Murray also scoring, taking his tally to six goals.

West Brom are just seven points clear of the drop. They are not in any real danger as such but if their poor form continues they will be looking down the table until the season ends.

Tony Pulis has never been relegated as a manager and he always seems to get his teams out of trouble and help stabilise them. That was certainly the case with Crystal Palace last year, who he took from the depths of relegation to an 11th place finish and he will return to Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Pulis was responsible for some important signings to the Palace side that Pardew features in his team, such as Joe Ledley and Scott Dann, before a reported disagreement over Palace’s transfer policies led to Pulis’ departure from the South London club on the eve of this season’s opener.

A win for either side in this one would be vital, with Palace looking to climb into the top half of the table, while West Brom need to end their torrid form here as they still need to travel to teams in the top five before the end of the season.

The reverse fixture saw a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns back in October, with goals from Brede Hangeland and Mile Jedinak for Palace only to be pegged back by a Victor Anichebe and a Saido Berahino penalty.

Team News

Crystal Palace have doubts over Jordan Mutch, Frazier Campbell and Marouane Chamakh but James McArthur and Pape Souare could return from their knocks.

For West Brom, Ben Foster will continue to be sidelined until around October, while the Baggies will hand a late fitness test to Brown Ideye.

Key Points

Crystal Palace’s last five: L/W/W/W/W

West Brom’s last five: L/W/L/L/L

Key Stat: In the last four matches between the two in all competitions there have been 15 bookings but no dismissals.

Key Player: Yannick Bolasie – The Congolese winger hit a superb hat-trick last weekend at Sunderland and will be thriving for more goals against a West Brom defence that is failing to impress.

Score Prediction

Crystal Palace 3-1 West Brom – Palace to get a win that could lift them into the top half of the table. West Brom should get on the scoresheet, but they look likely to miss out on points as Pardew’s men are in excellent form.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: West Brom vs Southampton

Competition: Premier League – West Bromwich Albion vs Southampton

Venue: Upton Park – Saturday, February 28th – 15:00 GMT (10:00 ET)

Match Odds: West Brom 23/10 – Draw 21/10 – Southampton 13/10

Match Preview

West Brom host Southampton at the Hawthorns in an intriguing match in the Premier League on Saturday with the Saints looking to bounce back after winning just one of their last four.

Southampton have been knocked out of the top four after a poor run that has seen them score just one league goal in four games. That came in the last minute at Queens Park Rangers and Ronald Koeman needs to fix things quickly if the Saints are to keep their fight for Champions League football on track until the end of the season.

On paper a trip to West Brom gives Southampton a good chance to get back to winning ways but that will be no easy task against a Baggies side that has lost just one of their last seven in the league.

Tony Pulis has turned things around since taking over and has only lost once in that 3-0 home defeat to Spurs at the end of January.

West Brom have scored six and conceded none in their last three in all competitions with their last home game an impressive 4-0 FA Cup romp against West Ham.

The Baggies drew 0-0 at Sunderland last time out and will be confident of moving further away from the relegation zone this weekend. They currently sit in 14th, five points above the drop zone.

Southampton are now in fifth place but are just one point behind Manchester United in fourth and two behind Arsenal in third. Winning at the Hawthorns would get them back on track after a 2-0 home defeat to Liverpool last Sunday.

The reverse fixture at St Mary’s this season saw the sides share the spoils in a goalless draw and it could be just as tight on Saturday.

Team News

West Brom are likely to be without striker Victor Anichebe who is suffering from a groin strain while Saido Berahino and James Morrison will face late fitness tests. Stephane Sessegnon could return to the starting lineup after sitting out the game at Sunderland.

Embed from Getty Images

Southampton will definitely be without forwards Jay Rodriguez and Emmanuel Mayuka but will welcome back left-back Ryan Bertrand who returns from suspension. Toby Alderweireld could return is he recovers from a hamstring injury but this game could come too soon for the Belgian. Steven Davis is a doubt after being forced off against Liverpool last week.

Key Points

West Brom’s last five in the Premier League: D/L/D/W/D

Southampton’s last five in the Premier League: W/L/W/D/L

Key Stat: West Brom have failed to score against Southampton in their last three meetings (W0 D1 L2).

Key Player: Brown Ideye – The Nigerian striker has four goals and one assist in his last four games and seems to perform best in front of his own fans. He will be a real threat for Southampton in this one.

Score Prediction

West Brom 1-1 Southampton – The Saints will struggle to break down this West Brom side but could earn a point with a hard-fought performance at the Hawthorns. Tony Pulis has his side playing well and another point will help them to keep moving clear of relegation.
