Chelsea ‘on the verge’ of signing £43m-rated superstar

Chelsea have stepped up their efforts to secure the signing of Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann after recruiting Jorge Mendes to ensure smooth negotiations.

Spanish media outlet, El Confidencial, have reported Mendes has been recruited to complete the deal which is apparently very close.

Mendes boasts the likes of Jose Mourinho and Diego Costa as his clients and is one of the best in the business at pushing deals through.

The deal is close to being wrapped up but a fee has yet to be agreed and Madrid are holding out for around £43 million for their prized asset.

The 24-year-old Frenchman has netted an impressive 22 goals in 35 La Liga appearances this season and would provide cover for the injury prone Diego Costa and strengthen the Blues’ attacking options with his versatility.

Griezmann would be joining a fierce Chelsea attacking line which would arguably become the strongest in the Premier League for next season if they can secure the Frenchman’s services.

Manchester City have held initial talks with Juventus over a possible move for €100 million-rated midfielder Paul Pogba, according to Sky Sports Italia.

It is understood that City’s representatives travelled to Turin to talk with Pogba over a move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Last season’s Premier League champions face a tough task to secure Pogba’s services as he is being chased by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain.

City are understood to be the first club to make advances on the player by visiting Turin but PSG are reportedly ready to stump up the asking price to beat of competition for the French international.

Pogba could yet find himself playing in this season’s Champions League final as his Juventus side take a narrow 2-1 lead into their semi-final second leg against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Yaya Toure is expected to leave City this summer and Pogba is viewed as the perfect replacement should he do so.

Chelsea set to HIJACK United’s move for young Brazilian star

Chelsea are looking to add another young Brazilian to their ranks with a move for Fluminense’s Robert Kenedy who has also caught the eye of Manchester United, according to The Guardian.

The 19-year-old attacker has been working his way to the top of Brazilian football after bursting onto the scene two years ago when he was the top scorer in Brazil’s squad at the South America’s Under-17 Championships.

Kenedy has expressed his desire to play alongside his Brazilian compatriots Oscar and Ramires at Chelsea and it is looking likely that he will be the club’s second Brazilian signing in a short space of time, having already secured Nathan de Souza.

Any possible transfer is estimated to cost a similar £4.5 million fee that Chelsea paid for Nathan.

One issue is that Nathan and Kenedy would not qualify for work permits at present, meaning they would be loaned out. Chelsea have a strong affiliation with loaning young players out in the last few years to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem, which could be a possible destination for the two Brazilian youngsters.

Chelsea signed Oscar at a similar age back in 2012 and initially it seemed they would be loaning him out, but he was thrown in at the deep end and has gone on to make 152 appearances for the club already.

Kenedy can play either as winger or behind the striker and has scored two goals with five assists in 31 appearances for Fluminense.

Would Kenedy be a good signing for Chelsea? Do they need another young attacker at the club?

Chelsea, City and United handed HUGE boost in race for £58m-rated superstar

Premier League trio ChelseaManchester City and Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Juventus superstar Paul Pogba as the Italian club are looking to rebuild this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been on the radar of some of European football’s giants after yet another impressive season and Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain are said to be chasing his services.

It is reported that PSG made the Frenchman an astonishing £210,000-a-week offer, but Pogba’s representatives are looking for more as interest in the Frenchman is so high.

His services are going to set back any potential outfit around £58 million and with Financial Fair Play regulations, clubs will need to be selling at least one top player in order to fund any possible move.

There has been previous talk of player-plus-cash deals, especially surrounding Chelsea with regards to Oscar heading to Juventus. But Jose Mourinho hasn’t given any indications that he plans to allow the Brazilian playmaker to depart and Oscar has claimed he is settled.

With Yaya Toure’s departure from Manchester City looking imminent that seems a more likely destination than Chelsea, but City will need to be working hard to meet the regulations of FFP.

The excitement around this deal is continually on the rise and it could be a summer-long saga for a club to secure his services in such a huge move, not too dissimilar to Gareth Bale’s move in 2013, as Pogba looks to be the number one target for club’s across Europe.

Chelsea set to make move for £30m Premier League star – report

Jose Mourinho is expected to bolster his Chelsea frontline this summer and a number of candidates have already been shortlisted. Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke is the latest to be linked with the new champions, according to Goal.com.

Benteke struggled in the first half of the season but has been rejuvenated under Tim Sherwood and his form looks like it could be enough to keep his side in the Premier League.

The Belgian powerhouse has netted 11 goals in his last nine games and is once again displaying that sensational form he showed when he first joined Villa.

Chelsea’s forward line have struggled in stages this season, with injuries sidelining Diego Costa and Loic Remy, and Didier Drogba not able to contribute to the same levels as he once did.

Benteke could be a be a slight gamble for Chelsea given his drop in form earlier in the season, but he is a proven Premier League striker, and the service he would be on the receiving end of would be a dream for any centre-forward.

Sherwood isn’t going to let his star go easily, nor for a low fee, and it is reported that Villa will be holding out for around £30 million for the 24-year-old striker with Spurs, Manchester United and West Ham also linked.

Could this Chelsea superstar be set for HUGE move to Real Madrid?

Zinedine Zidane has sparked up speculation of a Real Madrid move for Chelsea‘s key player, Eden Hazard, after his comments about the influential playmaker with FIFA.com.

Hazard, a nominee for PFA Player of the Year, scored his 18th goal of the season in his side’s 1-0 win against Manchester United last weekend and Zidane thinks he is largely to thank for Chelsea topping the table.

“I like the way he carries himself, that decisive streak in him and the fact that he’s improving every year,” the Real Madrid B team coach said.

“He can still get better too, and I think he’s a big reason why Chelsea are on top of the table.”

The 24-year-old winger signed a contract extension with the club until 2021 just a couple of months ago, making a move away seem highly unlikely, but when Real Madrid come calling it is tempting for any player.

Zidane regards Hazard as one of the best in the world and spoke of him in the same league sentence as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“There are players I keep an eye on and who I like a lot, like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“They’re fantastic players, but I like Eden Hazard a lot too. I enjoy everything he does on the pitch.”

Zidane’s comments could be an indication that Real could make a move for the Belgian superstar this summer. His praise may be an early sign of luring Hazard away from Chelsea.

Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo are two of the world’s best wingers and a move for the Blues star would not be made unless one of them were to leave the club.

Hazard will be under the spotlight again this weekend as Chelsea face Arsenal on Sunday. A win at The Emirates will mean they are just three points away from the Premier League title.

£35m-rated Chelsea star: “Why would I think of leaving the club?”

Chelsea midfielder, Oscar, has denied reports linking him with a move away this summer and insists he is “very happy”, he told Goal.com.

The £35 million-rated Brazilian has come in for a little criticism of late after being yanked off at half-time against Paris Saint-Germain and Stoke City, fuelling talk of a move away. But Oscar isn’t interested in going anywhere.

“I’m very happy here, I get along with everyone and the club shows its praise to me.

“Chelsea is one of the best clubs in the world so I can’t see why I would think of leaving the club.”

The 23-year-old playmaker has been linked with a move to Juventus, in a potential a player-plus-cash deal for the in-demand Paul Pogba.

The attacking midfielder might be forgiven for being critical of his own performances in a very competitive Chelsea starting 11, but he has contributed with six goals and seven assists this campaign.

“I’m very happy with Chelsea’s season so far,” he added. “I’m happy with my own performances as well but reckon that I could have contributed more to the team.

“There are different tactics depending on the opponent we face and we respect the manager’s choices. Sometimes I ended up not playing the entire match but I’m doing my best to fulfil my role. So yes, I’m happy with my performances.”

Oscar seems to be content with working hard for his place in the starting 11, which is the exact mentality Jose Mourinho wants from his players and a move away this summer would not look likely at this point.

Will Oscar be a Chelsea player next season?

Chelsea line up another Atletico raid for £28.5m-rated star

Chelsea are considering a move for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin if they fail in their chase of Raphael Varane, according to The Mirror.

The highly rated 29-year-old centre-back is contracted until 2018, and despite having a release clause of £28.5 million in his contract, he could be a more achievable target than Varane.

Mourinho has the second best defence in the Premier League but is keen to bolster his options with his captain, John Terry, turning 35 next season.

It is no secret that Mourinho rates Varane very highly, but the Real Madrid defender has featured in the starting lineup more often recently due to injuries to Carlo Ancelotti’s key men, Sergio Ramos and Pepe, and that will give him encouragement to stay and fight for his place.

Godin would be an ideal second choice for Mourinho, as he has had to deal with defending against some of the best players in the world at FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent years.

The Uruguayan international is also a real threat in front of goal and scored in Atletico’s Champions League final loss to their bitter rivals, Real last year, and could opt for a change as he is in his fifth year at the club.

A move to Chelsea would see Godin link up with former Atletico teammates Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois, as another raid on the Spanish club looks likely.

Chelsea’s hopes of OUTRAGEOUS £200m transfer dead and buried

Chelsea‘s chances of completing the most outrageous transfer of all time are completely over as their reported £200 million transfer target, Lionel Messi, is fully focused on life with FC Barcelona.

The four-time Ballon d’Or winner had a slow start to the season after injuries affected his summer after his World Cup final disappointment in Brazil.

Chelsea came in as favourites to sign the 27-year-old striker, according to the Express, after his high-profile spat with Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique, but they stalled on a January offer due to UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rulings.

Messi has now put uncertainty behind him and is happy with Barcelona in Spain, he told fcbarcelona.com.

“I was inconsistent last season. I was out for a while due to injury, missing quite a few games,

“When I came back I didn’t feel right. It was a year that I have tried to quickly forget to try and get back to my best through hard work, smiling and effort, like I always have and now, fortunately, I feel very good.”

Messi has netted 34 league goals in 31 appearances so far this season and is on track to help Barca secure yet another league title.

The Argentine superstar will be in action on Wednesday evening as he will be under the spotlight once again as Barcelona face Paris Saint-Germain in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.

Any hopes of seeing Messi move to the Premier League with Chelsea look to be over as a move away from Camp Nou looks to be extremely unlikely.

Chelsea on alert to bolster attack with £22m rated striker

Jose Mourinho has struggled with his attacking options at stages this season, and recent injuries to Diego Costa and Loic Remy have left Chelsea looking rather weak up top as Didier Drogba is not the player he used to be and is having to settle for cameo roles.

Chelsea’s lack of depth in their forward department has fuelled speculation that Mourinho will bolster his options and £22 million-rated Inter Milan striker, Mauro Icardi, could be on the move to the London club, according to the Metro.

Icardi has netted 16 Serie A goals in 28 appearances this season for the Nerazzurri and the Italian club are reportedly already on the look out for his replacement, with Mario Gomez and Edin Dzeko two players linked.

Chelsea could well delve into the transfer market for two strikers this summer as Didier Drogba will turn 38 next season and hasn’t scored in his last 23 appearances. His contract is up at the end of the current campaign and it is still unclear what is next for him.

Diego Costa is currently sidelined with his recurring hamstring issue and despite scoring 20 goals this season, 19 have been in the Premier League, and his lack of goals in the Champions League ultimately cost the Blues in Europe.

Loic Remy has netted seven goals in 26 appearances but missed out in the weekend’s win over his former club Queens Park Rangers through injury.

Chelsea have failed to maintain their scintillating form they showed at the start of the season but they have that early season run to thank for still being ahead in the race for the title.

Icardi could be a key player at Chelsea next season, not only for giving Mourinho an extra option, but also helping to keep his other strikers on their toes in the form of healthy competition.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Icardi and the young forward could be the subject of a fierce transfer battle between some of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer.
