Atletico Madrid defender could be on his way to Chelsea

Atletico Madrid defender Miranda could be set for a summer move to Chelsea after the Blues sent the club’s technical director Michael Emenalo to watch the Brazilian centre-back in Atletico’s 2-2 draw with Malaga on Saturday, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

Miranda still has one year remaining on his contract for the Madrid side but could be tempted with a move to London to join old teammates Diego Costa and Filipe Luis.

Chelsea were linked with Miranda last summer but nothing materialised and now they could get their man for a cut-price fee due to his contract expiring soon, with Atletico Madrid potentially willing to sell the defender rather than lose him for free in 2016.

Miranda has made 19 appearances in La Liga this season, chipping in with three goals and an assist, but with the rise of Atletico’s young defender Jose Maria Gimenez to regular first-team action, the Brazilian’s game time could be in danger, making the move more likely.

There was speculation linking the 30-year-old with a move to Manchester United a few weeks ago and Miranda told Brazilian website Estadao that the rumours made him “happy” because it shows he’s “doing well.”

The rumours have flattered Miranda but he said, “my intention is to stay at Atletico because I still have a year and a half on my contract,” although the Spanish side would probably want to cash in on a transfer fee before the contract is up.

Would Miranda be a good signing for Chelsea?

Chelsea and United dealt a HUGE blow in chase for €25m-rated Madrid star

Chelsea and Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of €25m-rated Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane after he has insisted that he is happy at Los Blancos, according to Sky Sports.

The French youngster has featured 21 times in La Liga this season and has been heavily linked with moves away from the club with Chelsea and Manchester United both rumoured to be interested, but Varane hasn’t thought about leaving the club.

“I am focused on our season and we are going to give everything to win it all. I am happy here,” Varane said after Madrid’s 2-0 win over Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.

Varane played under Jose Mourinho during his time as Real Madrid manager and the current Chelsea boss is a huge fan of the 21-year-old.

If he is to sign for Chelsea, he will join his French counterpart Kurt Zouma in what could potentially be a long-term, world-class partnership.

But Varane’s comments couldn’t make things clearer on his intentions as he continues to play a huge part in Madrid’s push for silverware. rate Varane at €25 but it is reported that it would take a much higher offer to tempt Real into selling their young star.

The main factor which could eventually see Varane leave the Spanish capital is playing time. He has enjoyed long spells in the side this season due to injuries to Madrid’s other top quality defenders in the shape of Sergio Ramos and Pepe who are both set to be offered new contracts this summer.

If Varane sees himself as a bit part player again next season, a move could be on the cards but for now it looks as if he is staying put.

Arsenal set to miss out on £10m Chelsea star as Inter move nears

Arsenal‘s pursuit of Petr Cech looks set to end in disappointment as the Chelsea goalkeeper is close to signing for Serie A outfit Inter Milan, according to the Express.

The Chelsea fan-favourite looks set to end his 11-year love affair with the Blues this summer after a frustrating season playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.

Arsenal has been a rumoured destination for the Czech Republic international but that move looks all but over as Italian reports claim Cech is close to agreeing a deal that will see him join Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan.

Corriere dello Sport reported on the move for Cech from Inter, claiming the Nerazzurri will offer the 32-year-old shot-stopper a two-year deal with the option of a third.

It is also reported that current Inter keeper, Samir Handanovic, is refusing to sign a new contract with the club, further fuelling speculation of a move for Cech.

Cech has won an impressive 14 trophies with Chelsea during his 11 years in England and played a pivotal role in their Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich in 2012, so his experience is at the very highest level.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Southampton have all been linked with a move for the Chelsea star, who Jose Mourinho values at £10 million but Inter Milan looks to be his next destination.

Chelsea to HIJACK Manchester United transfer for £37m star – report

Chelsea are set to make a surprise move for Manchester United target, Mats Hummels, according to, and would be willing to splash £37 million on the German centre-back.

The World Cup winner has been heavily linked with a move to United this summer after Borussia Dortmund’s disappointing season and his comments regarding his future have done little to quash rumours of a move away.

Louis Van Gaal had seemingly been chasing the centre-back alone but Chelsea will reportedly look to pounce before the Red Devils can seal their man.

Jose Mourinho is apparently looking to secure a world-class centre-back this summer and Hummels is a player that has been previously linked with a Stamford Bridge switch.

Blues captain John Terry signed a one-year contract extension just a few weeks ago but will turn 35 next season. He is now in the twilight years of his career despite plaudits from many in the game after key performances this campaign.

At just 26, Hummels could be a long-term replacement for the former England captain and would be part of one of the toughest defences in Europe if he makes the move to the London club.

Mourinho is keen to add depth to his squad and Hummels would join Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma as the Chelsea manager’s centre-back options in the long-run, though the Dortmund star would likely be a regular starter with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Will Oscar make way as Chelsea swoop for £22m-rated La Liga star?

Chelsea are chasing £22m-rated Atletico Madrid star Koke, according to reports in Spain, and Oscar could be the man to make way for the Spaniard.

The Atletico playmaker, who is also being targeted by Manchester United, has scored twice and created nine in 25 appearances this season and Jose Mourinho could be looking to revamp parts of his squad after his side’s dip in form in 2015.

Koke has impressed in the Champions League this season, creating four goals and scoring two in the seven games so far. He is now preparing for a quarter-final clash against fierce rivals Real Madrid with his Atletico teammates but could be swapping Spain for the Premier League in the coming months.

Oscar was substituted once again this weekend after a quiet first-half against Stoke and could be sold as leverage for Chelsea’s summer transfer business with Juventus reportedly interested.

Embed from Getty Images rate Oscar to be valued at £35 million and the Brazilian seems more likely to be sold than any of his fellow attacking-midfielders at Stamford Bridge.

With Jose Mourinho keen to abide by Financial Fair Play rules, Chelsea would need to sell at least one key player this summer to fund any big-money moves for transfer targets

Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas were both brought in from Liga BBVA last summer and it now looks like Mourinho is looking to reunite Koke with former teammates Thibaut Courtois and Costa at Chelsea.
