Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Burnley

Competition: Premier League – Arsenal  vs. Burnley

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Sunday, January 22 – 14:15 GMT (09:15 ET)

Match Odds: Arsenal 1/5 – Draw 11/2 – Burnley 12/1

Match Preview

Arsenal welcome Burnley to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon in a game which The Gunners will be expecting to win.

Arsene Wenger’s side are currently in fourth place, eight points off top spot. Wenger needs to get his side on a run of form to ensure they don’t drift too far out of the title race and maintain a game from the Manchester clubs chasing the top four.

This should be a relatively straightforward tie for Arsenal, but they will know they cannot afford to underestimate Burnley. If they can get an early goal and create a good atmosphere around the ground, they should get the job done.

Burnley have been in good form of late. Sean Dyche’s side have picked up nine points from the last five games and are sitting 10th.

The Clarets come into this one having progressed in the FA Cup after their replay win against Sunderland. Their last Premier League outing was an impressive 1-0 win against Southampton.

Burnley have struggled on the road this season though. They have lost eight of their last nine on their travels and the games don’t come much tougher than this. If they can put on a defensive display like they did against Manchester United, they stand a good chance of a positive result.

Team News

Arsenal’s injury woes continue. They could be without up to seven players for this one as Santi Cazorla, Mathieu Debuchy, Yaya Sanogo, Theo Walcott and Per Mertesacker are all expected to remain out, while Olivier Giroud is a doubt. Mohammed Elneny is away on international duty with Eygpt at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Burnley have just the three injury concerns as Dean Marney, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Scott Arfield are all doubts.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five: L/W/W/D/W

Burnley’s last five: L/W/W/L/W

Key Stat: Arsenal have won their last five games against Burnley in all competitions.

Key Player: Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal need to get this man tied down to a long-term contract as soon as possible. The Chilean has netted 14 times this campaign and is the Premier League’s joint top scorer. He will be expected to cause Burnley trouble here.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 3-1 Burnley – Arsenal to pick up a comfortable three points and continue their winning run against Burnley. The Gunners have struggled to keep clean sheets this campaign and Burnley are capable of causing problems, but this one will be a step too far for Dyche’s men.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Bournemouth

Competition: Premier League – Arsenal  vs. Bournemouth

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Sunday, November 27 – 14:15 GMT (09:15 ET)

Match Odds: Arsenal 2/5 – Draw 19/5 – Bournemouth 6/1

Match Preview

Arsenal welcome Bournemouth to the Emirates Stadium for an important Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners come into the game after a 2-2 draw at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night – their last two Premier League games have also ended in draws.

Arsene Wenger has called upon his side to start turning those draws into wins and they can’t afford a slip up here if they have any serious aspirations of challenging for the title.

Recent performances have been below par for Arsenal, who’ve looked flat, albeit they’ve faced tough opposition in PSG, Manchester United and Tottenham, while still managing to remain undefeated since the opening day.

Bournemouth arrive in London in high spirits after their impressive 1-0 win away at Stoke last weekend ended a run of three games without a win in the league.

Eddie Howe is continuing to work his magic, steering his side to tenth in the table with 15 points at this early stage of the season – an excellent start.

The Cherries have struggled for points on the road, so they’ll be hoping the first away win of the season at Stoke will give them confidence.

The only two previous league meetings between these two sides came last season with Arsenal winning 2-0 on both occasions.

Team News

Arsenal will be without the injured Santi Cazorla (heel) and Hector Bellerin (ankle), while Lucas Perez won’t be fit to make the squad despite returning to training this week following an ankle problem. Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck (both knee) are long-term absentees.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc (back) is a doubt, as is Andrew Surman (hamstring). Loanee Jack Wilshere is ineligible to play against his parent club, but Adam Smith (ban) and Jordan Ibe (illness) should return to the squad.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five: W/D/W/D/D

Bournemouth’s last five: W/D/L/L/W

Key Stat: Dominance – Arsenal have a 100% winning record against Bournemouth in all competitions (P3, W3).

Key Player: Olivier Giroud – It would be a huge surprise if the Frenchman doesn’t feature at some point on Sunday afternoon. His goalscoring form has been incredible since his return from injury, with five goals in five games in all competitions.

Embed from Getty Images

Score Prediction

Arsenal 2-1 Bournemouth – The Gunners haven’t performed well recently, and they can’t allow the dip in form to go on any longer, although they’ve still managed to churn out results – it could be a similar story here. Bournemouth will provide tough opposition and Eddie Howe will set out his side to try and win the game, but home advantage could be the key.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Chelsea

Competition: Premier League – Arsenal vs. Chelsea

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Saturday, September 24 – 17:30 BST (12:30 ET)

Match Odds: Arsenal 13/10 – Draw 5/2 – Chelsea 19/10

Match Preview

Arsenal welcome their London rivals Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening in the standout fixture of the Premier League weekend.

Arsenal seem to have got over their slow start in their opening two games and have now won three league games on the bounce.

The Gunners come into this one level on points with Chelsea, but are ahead in table on goal difference, they will be keen to continue their winning run here.

Arsenal advanced in the EFL Cup in midweek with a convincing win 4-0 win and they won 4-1 against Hull last weekend, so confidence is high among Arsene Wenger’s men.

Chelsea bounced back from their defeat against Liverpool last weekend with a 4-2 over Leicester in the EFL Cup in midweek.

It looked like Antonio Conte’s side were going to lose their second on the bounce before really turning on the style in midweek, with practically every attack coming through Cesc Fabregas.

Chelsea haven’t won in two in the league and, like Arsenal, are already five points off the top. This is a must win game for both sides.

The Blues haven’t lost in their last nine Premier League games against Arsenal and haven’t even conceded in the last six of those. This is going to be a tough tie and that run of clean sheets against their rivals looks likely to come to an end here considering how easily their defence has been breached this season.

Team News

Arsenal’s season is already being troubled by injuries, an all too familiar story for their fans. Olivier Giroud, Per Mertesacker, Danny Welbeck, Aaron Ramsey, Carl Jenkinson, and Gabriel Paulista are all expected to miss out here.

Chelsea are still expecting to be without Kurt Zouma, while there is still no word on a return date for captain John Terry.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five: L/D/W/W/W

Chelsea’s last five: W/W/W/D/L

Key Stat: Chelsea haven’t conceded a goal against Arsenal in the last six Premier League meetings between the sides.

Key Player: Diego Costa – The Chelsea forward has already bagged five goals this season. He has previous with Arsenal and isn’t popular among their fans. He is Chelsea’s best chance of coming away with all three points in this one.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea – Arsenal to bring their winless and goalless run against Chelsea to an end here. The Gunners are in fine form now, while Chelsea are still struggling defensively. Like the majority of games from this fixture down the years, we can expect action and controversy all the while Diego Costa is on the field.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur

Competition: Premier League – Arsenal vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Saturday, October 24 – 17:30 BST (12:30 ET)

Match Odds: Arsenal 7/10 – Draw 3/1 – Tottenham 7/2

Match Preview

Arsenal welcome fierce rivals Tottenham in the Premier League this Sunday, in what is the second North London derby of the season.

The Gunners are in fantastic domestic form and have won their last five on the bounce. They come into this one off the back of their 3-0 away win over Swansea last weekend.

However, Arsene Wenger’s side were thumped 5-1 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday evening and they cannot afford to allow that result to play on their minds heading into this tie.

Arsenal sit second in the league, only trailing leaders Manchester City on goal difference, so this is a must win game for more than one reason. Wenger’s side have to continue their excellent home form and avoid losing games like this to give them a great chance of challenging for the title.

Tottenham are proving to be one of the hardest teams to beat this season, having lost only once back on the opening day of the season.

They lost the earlier meeting against their rivals 2-1 in the League Cup back in September and will want to exact revenge here in the first league derby between the two this campaign.

Spurs are unbeaten in their last ten Premier League games and come into this one off the back of their 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Monday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side won 2-1 in midweek against Anderlecht in the Europa League and so confidence will be sky high.

Tottenham are in a great position to win this game and so we could be in for a North London Derby classic.

Team News

Arsenal’s injury woes continue. They could be without as many as eight first team players for this one as Hector Bellerin, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Thomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck are all set to miss out. Laurent Koscielny is a doubt and he would be a huge miss should he miss out.

Tottenham have six injury concerns. Nacer Chadli and Alex Pritchard are out, while Danny Rose, Clinton N’Jie, Heung Min Son and Nabil Bentaleb are all doubtful. Son made his return to action on Thursday and could feature off the bench.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five in the Premier League: W/W/W/W/W

Tottenham’s last five in the Premier League: W/D/D/W/W

Key Stat: Arsenal have an incredible home record against Tottenham. They are undefeated in 19 of the last 20 meetings between the sides in all competitions.

Key Player: Harry Kane – The Spurs forward has netted five in his last three in all competitions and looks to be back to his confident best. He has already scored against Arsenal in the North London Derby and will be looking to cause further problems to an injury-stricken home side.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham – This has the makings of one to remember. Arsenal’s injuries could well be a problem but they still have the firepower of Olivier Giroud, who seems to score every time he plays at the moment, as well as Alexis Sanchez. Spurs will see this as an opportunity to take all three points but with both sides in great form they are tough to split.

Match Odds: Arsenal 4/9 – Draw 15/4 – Everton 11/2

Match Preview

Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates on Saturday evening fresh from beating German giants Bayern Munich 2-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Many are wondering if this could finally be the year Arsenal grab themselves the title that has evaded them since 2004. And many believe they stand a serious chance.

The Gunners are on a high after winning their last three on the bounce and will be confident of making it four with a win on Saturday.

Arsenal’s record in the Premier League: P9 – W6 – D1 – L2

Everton are suffering from a bit of a stutter at the moment, having only managed one win in their last four.

Given the current quality of the squad and the added luxury of having no European football as a distraction, there is no reason why the Toffees can’t challenge for a European spot this term.

However, with key starters Leighton Baines and Tom Cleverley on the sidelines, perhaps the injuries are hindering Everton at the moment. That was certainly evident in last week’s 3-0 loss to Manchester United.

Everton’s record in the Premier League: P9 – W3 – D4 – L2

Arsenal won the most recent meeting between these two back in March in a 2-0 victory at the Emirates. That was the Gunners’ only league win against Everton in their last six clashes.

Team News

Arsenal will be without Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, David Ospina, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky for the visit of Everton as all of them are out through injury.

Everton are still missing Leighton Baines, Tony Hibbert, Steven Pienaar and Tom Cleverley through injury, although they are all nearing a return. Muhamed Besic is doubtful but could feature at some point.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five: W/L/W/W/W

Everton’s last five: W/D/W/D/L

Key Stat: Arsenal are undefeated in their last 18 home matches against Everton in all competitions, with the Toffees’ last win at Arsenal coming in January 1996.

Key Player: Alexis Sanchez – It would seem unjust to highlight anyone else as Sanchez is the key man in this Arsenal side. He is world class in the final third so expect some more magic.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 2-0 Everton – Arsenal were sensational in midweek, downing Bayern Munich in the Champions League, while Everton were slack in their 3-0 loss at home to Manchester United last weekend. This should be an easy home win.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Sunderland

Competition: Premier League – Arsenal vs. Sunderland

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Wednesday, May 20th – 19:45 BST (14:45 ET)

Match Odds: Arsenal 2/7 – Draw 9/2 – Sunderland 9/1

Match Preview

Arsenal welcome Sunderland to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night for the penultimate game of the Premier League season with both sides in need of just one more point to secure very different objectives.

The Gunners are in search of one more point to ensure they finish in third place above Manchester United and avoid the Champions League qualification playoff game, while a point for Sunderland will guarantee their top flight status for another season.

Theo Walcott‘s deflected cross off Tyler Blackett rescued a vital point for Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday and kept them two points clear of fourth-placed Manchester United coming into this game-in-hand.

Arsenal’s fantastic run of eight straight wins has been halted by a run of four games with just one victory (D2, L1), although Arsene Wenger has still done enough to guide his side to a Champions League finish for the 17th consecutive season.

The Gunners have won all but one of their home games against sides in the bottom 11 of the Premier League table this season – a 2-2 draw with Hull City back in October being the only points they’ve dropped against the lower league teams at home.

Sunderland arrive in London having lost just one of their last six games (W3, D2) and their 0-0 draw at home to Leicester last weekend extended their current mini-unbeaten run to four games.

Despite the good run, Dick Advocaat will know there is still work to do and the final two games are away at Arsenal and Chelsea, so they may be relying on Hull City failing to win against Manchester United on the final day in order for them to survive.

Arsenal won the reverse fixture 2-0 at the Stadium of Light thanks to two goals from Alexis Sanchez and have won the last four meeting between the two sides.

Team News

Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny will face a late assessment as he is suffering with the flu, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Danny Welbeck, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy are all unavailable because of injury.

Sunderland will be without the injured Billy Jones, Jordi Gomez, Wes Brown, Jack Rodwell and Ricardo Alvarez.

Key Points

Arsenal’s last five: W/D/W/L/D

Sunderland’s last five: L/D/W/W/D

Key Stat: Sunderland haven’t won away at Arsenal in the league since November 1983 when they beat the Gunners 2-1 at Highbury.

Key Player: Aaron Ramsey – The Welshman doesn’t stop running and his work-rate can’t be faulted even though he’s playing out of position on the right side of midfield.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 2-1 Sunderland – The Gunners’ home advantage will help them just edge past the Black Cats who will go into the final day with it all to play for.

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Saturday, April 4 – 12:45 BST (07:45 EDT)

Match Odds: Arsenal 4/5 – Draw 13/5 – Liverpool 100/30

Match Preview

Arsenal and Liverpool clash at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime in the Premier League‘s stand-out fixture of the weekend.

These two sides have been the best Premier League teams in 2015 so far and this game represents another huge moment in the race for Champions League qualification, with Liverpool five points adrift of fourth and six points behind third-placed Arsenal.

Defeat for Liverpool in this game will leave them desperately playing catch-up and they arguably need to go all out for the win to stand any chance of making the top four.

Meanwhile, Arsenal can heap the pressure on Manchester City as a win would see them leapfrog City into second, even if only for a few hours.

The Gunners are on an impressive run of six straight wins in the league and have lost just twice in their last 15 games, winning 12 and drawing one.

Liverpool have also been in great form and their 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester United last time out was their first Premier League loss in 14 matches after they’d been on a 13-game unbeaten run, consisting of ten wins and three draws.

Arsenal’s main man in recent weeks has been the in-form striker Olivier Giroud – the Frenchman has scored nine goals in his last nine games in all competitions as well as six in his last five Premier League matches.

Arsene Wenger will certainly be hoping that Giroud and his Arsenal teammates can continue from where they left off following the international break.

Brendan Rodgers will be urging his players to call upon the performance that famously ripped Arsenal apart at Anfield in that 5-1 win back in February 2014.

The reverse fixture between these two sides this season ended as a 2-2 draw in dramatic fashion as a 97th minute header from Martin Skrtel rescued a point for the Reds after goals from Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud had given Arsenal the lead following Philippe Coutinho‘s opener.

Team News

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring) remains out for Arsenal, while Danny Welbeck suffered a knee injury on international duty but could still make the squad. Mathieu Debuchy, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby all featured in a friendly against Brentford on Tuesday but it is unlikely any of them will play due to lack of match sharpness. Tomas Rosicky could also return to the squad following illness.

Liverpool will be without skipper Steven Gerrard as he begins a three-match ban following his red card against Manchester United. Martin Skrtel is also unavailable after he was suspended retrospectively for a stamp on David De Gea. Jon Flanagan remains out with injury, while Adam Lallana (groin), Dejan Lovren (abdominal) and Daniel Sturridge (groin) are all trying to recover and could be doubtful. Youngster Jordan Ibe is also out injured.

Liverpool’s last five in the Premier League: W/W/W/W/L

Key Stat: Arsenal have only lost one out of their last 14 games at home to Liverpool in the Premier League (W7, D6).

Key Player: Aaron Ramsey – The Welshman is starting to show glimpses of the incredible performances we saw last season and his goals from midfield between now and the end of the season will be crucial – his battle with Jordan Henderson will be one to watch.

Score Prediction

Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool – Arsenal are on a great run of form and Liverpool are missing a few key players. This will be a tight but very entertaining game and the Gunners should just edge it with the home advantage.

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon looking to continue their good run of form in the Premier League which has propelled them into third.

Everton haven’t won in three in the league but tasted European victory with a 3-1 win against BSC Young Boys on Thursday in the Europa League and will be looking to extend their unbeaten run against Arsenal to six games in the league. The two clubs drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park in August.

Arsenal come into the game off the back of a disappointing 3-1 loss to AS Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday at the Emirates. Outplayed by the French side, Arsenal will want to forget about it and secure the three points on Sunday in front of their own fans.

With eight wins in ten in all competitions, Arsenal are still in a good run of form and are on course for yet another top four finish despite the fierce competition for Champions League football at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal’s Premier League home record: Played 12 – Won 8 – Drawn 3 – Lost 1

Interestingly, Arsenal have scored first in their last six Premier League games, and they could do with a fast start against the Toffees to settle any nerves.

Everton cannot be underestimated this weekend though as they could bring their European form to the Premier League and cause an upset on Sunday.

Everton will be buoyant after their two-legged demolition of Young Boys as they won 7-2 on aggregate and Roberto Martinez’s men will want to snatch all three points come the weekend.

Everton’s Premier League away record: Played 13 – Won 3 – Drawn 3 – Lost 7

It has been a poor season for Everton compared to last, and the league table proves that as they sit in twelfth after 26 games and are just six points off the relegation zone.

Their Premier League form dictates the reason for this as they have only registered one win in their last ten matches.

Team News

Arsenal – Mathieu Debuchy (shoulder) and Mikel Arteta (ankle) are still not match fit and Jack Wilshere has undergone surgery for ankle discomfort. Aaron Ramsey could return to the side as he nears a return from a hamstring injury while Arsene Wenger could drop David Ospina, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud after poor performances against Monaco on Wednesday.

Everton – Aiden McGeady is still sidelined with a knee injury while Steven Pienaar (Knee), Leon Osman (foot) and Bryan Oviedo (hamstring) will also miss out. Gareth Barry returns from suspension and is likely to start along with Leighton Baines who was rested for the midweek game against Young Boys.

Key Points

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Aston Villa

Competition: Premier League

Venue: Emirates Stadium – Sunday, February 1 – 13:30

Match Odds: Arsenal 2/9 – Draw 9/2 – Aston Villa 14/1

Arsenal welcome Aston Villa to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon as the Gunners look to continue their recent good form in the hunt for a top-four finish.

The North London side are on a run of four straight wins, which represents their best period of consecutive victories the season, and have lost just once in their last ten (in all competitions).

They’ve also only lost one game out of ten when playing on home soil in this campaign and haven’t lost a game against a team from the bottom half of the table, home or away (W 7, D 3).

Arsene Wenger has said that new signing Gabriel Paulista could be in the squad after the 24-year-old centre back joined from Spanish side Villarreal this week.

Arsenal’s home record: Played 10 – Won 6 – Drawn 3 – Lost 1

Aston Villa have very different aspirations for the rest of the season, and their only priority will be ensuring they don’t find themselves in a struggle to avoid relegation, but it may be too late as they sit just three points above the drop zone.

They do have a good record when playing at the Emirates Stadium though, having won three times at Arsenal since their move from Highbury, as well as picking up two draws. They’ve lost just three times out of eight visits.

Having said that, they haven’t scored a Premier League goal for five consecutive games now, and have managed just one goal in their last seven – a very worrying trend.

It’s a well documented fact that Villa have struggled desperately to score goals, with just 11 all season. To put it into perspective, Arsenal’s star-man Alexis Sanchez has notched 12 on his own.

Aston Villa’s away record: Played 11 – Won 3 – Drawn 2 – Lost 6

On paper, it looks as though it should be an easy home victory, but Arsenal must maintain their high intensity and focus in order to make sure this game isn’t a banana skin.

Aston Villa will be delighted with a point away at Arsenal given the current situation, so we can expect them to defend from deep and attempt to hurt their opponents on the break and from set-pieces.

Arsenal’s last five: W/W/L/W/W

Aston Villa’s last five: L/D/D/L/L

Key Stat: Aston Villa haven’t beaten a side from the top seven in the league this season.

Key Player: Olivier Giroud – The big Frenchman comes under a lot of criticism and should get more credit for the great job he does when leading the line for Arsenal – he is crucial.

Arsenal vs. Aston Villa Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Aston Villa – The Gunners to cruise to victory and remain on track.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Arsenal vs Stoke City

Stoke City travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal on Sunday afternoon with the Gunners seeking revenge after they fell victim to a 3-2 loss in the reverse fixture this season.

The Potters are coming off the back of a three game unbeaten run that includes an away win at Everton, a home win against West Brom and an important draw against Manchester United on New Years Day.

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from their below par performance last time out as they fell to Southampton in a 2-0 loss at St Mary’s, and need to win to keep tabs on the top four.

Arsenal’s home record: Played 9 – Won 5 – Drawn 3 – Lost 1

Much of the focus will be on the home side in this encounter as the Gunners are expected to have German international Mesut Ozil available once again and he could potentially start on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger’s has fielded an unbelievable twelve different combinations in defence this season. An unsettled backline being one of the reasons why Arsenal have struggled thus far.

And Mark Hughes will hope that Bojan can wreak havoc against the Arsenal defence as he did at the Britannia earlier in the season.

Stoke City’s away record: Played 10 – Won 3 – Drawn 3 – Lost 4

Stoke will be without Mame Biram Diouf however as the Senegal striker is away at the African Cup of Nations.

There is hope for this Arsenal side though, as they have won their last three at home in Premier League and enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Hull in front of their home fans last weekend in the FA Cup.

Their recent form against their opponents hasn’t been good enough however, as they have lost the last two meetings with Stoke. Could this be a third straight win against Arsenal for Mark Hughes’s men?

Arsenal’s last five:W/D/W/W/L

Stoke City’s last five: D/L/W/W/D

Key Stat: Arsenal are undefeated in 26 of their last 27 Premier League games at the Emirates.

Key Player: Alexis Sanchez – The Chile international has been a sensation since his move to the Emirates last summer and most of Arsenal’s attacking play will go through him.

Score Prediction: Arsenal 2 – 1 Stoke City
