Venue: Toyota Stadium – Friday, May 15th – 21:00 ET (02:00 BST)

Match Odds: FC Dallas 5/4 – Draw 12/5 – New York Red Bulls 21/10

Match Preview

FC Dallas host New York Red Bulls on Friday evening at Toyota Stadium in what could be the game of the weekend.

Dallas have lost just twice this season and are level on points with Vancouver Whitecaps at the top of the Western Conference, but do have a game in hand.

Oscar Pareja’s side have won back-to-back games after their 2-1 win against LA Galaxy last weekend and will be hoping for much of the same this time out against a tough Red Bulls side.

FCD have lost their last two against the Red Bulls and this is a huge game for both sides. Whoever can come out on top will be filled with confidence going forward as both are expected to make a real charge in the playoffs this season.

New York Red Bulls have lost just one game this season and are sitting third in the Eastern Conference. Jesse Marsch’s side came out on top in the New York derby last weekend and ended a three game streak without a win against NYCFC.

Bradley Wright-Phillips grabbed himself both of his side’s goals in the derby and now has five for the season. He has started the season well but has to keep banging in the goals to show he can be the Red Bulls main man.

Wright-Phillips’ partnership with Lloyd Sam is going from strength to strength with each passing game and they will be looking to cause the Dallas defence all sorts of problems on Friday.

While Dallas will look to Fabian Castillo to continue his fine campaign. The Colombian winger has four goals and five assists so far and has been mighty impressive.

Team News

FC Dallas have four injury concerns ahead of the game as Coy Craft, Stephen Keel, Zach Loyd and Matt Hedges all look set to be sidelined for this one. Other than that Pareja has no suspensions to worry about and could possibly opt for the same lineup that impressed against LA Galaxy last weekend.

New York Red Bulls are without Sal Zizzo for a few months as he recovers from a broken leg. Ronald Zubar’s fitness continues to be a concern and he could well sit this one out. Marsch will also be missing Matt Miazga, who is ruled out through suspension and has travelled to the U20 World Cup.

Key Points

FC Dallas’ last five: L/W/D/W/W

New York Red Bulls last five: W/D/D/L/W

Key Stat: Away – This is Dallas’ last home game before five consecutive away games on the bounce and so they will need a positive result.

Key Player: Fabian Castillo – The Colombian winger has been in inspired form. He has shown this season he can be the key to unlocking the toughest of backlines and could prove the difference here.

Score Prediction

FC Dallas 2-1 New York Red Bulls – Dallas to take all three points in a tight affair and win their third on the bounce. The Red Bulls lost their last road trip in New England and another loss could be on the cards here.

MLS Preview and Prediction: Houston Dynamo vs FC Dallas

Competition: Major League Soccer – Houston Dynamo vs. FC Dallas

Venue: BBVA Compass Stadium – Friday, May 1st – 20:00 ET (01:00 BST – Saturday, May 2nd)

Match Odds: Houston Dynamo 6/4 – Draw 23/10 – FC Dallas 9/5

Match Preview

Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas clash in the first of three Texas derbies in this 2015 MLS season on Friday night as they begin the fight for the “El Capitan” cannon.

The Dynamo were denied a victory in the 90th minute last time out as their pulsating game at home to Sporting Kansas City ended in a 4-4 draw, leaving them fifth in the Western Conference after eight games.

Houston led the game with SKC twice but couldn’t quite get over the line to claim all three points which is something Owen Coyle will look to amend should his side take the lead over Dallas.

While conceding four is always disappointing, the Dynamo will also be delighted to have scored so many as it’s only the second time they’ve scored more than one in a game this season.

FC Dallas gained a valuable point in a 1-1 draw away to Colorado in their last game which will please them after they had been humiliated by the Rapids on home soil just a few weeks ago in that 4-0 defeat.

Oscar Pareja‘s side have won just one of their last five games (D2, L2) since winning their first three matches of the season, but they’re still second in the Western Conference and fourth in the Supporters’ Shield standings.

Dallas will take confidence from their first-half performance at home to Toronto two weeks ago where they raced into a 3-0 lead and will believe they have a strong chance of winning the game if they can replicate the same level of intensity.

The last MLS meeting between these two sides ended with a comprehensive victory for FC Dallas as they beat the Dynamo 4-1 – Dallas have in-fact won their last four against Houston in all competitions.

Team News

Houston Dynamo’s Boniek Garcia is a slight doubt after missing the SKC game with a sprained knee, while Giles Barnes will look to continue his good start to the season having already notched four goals and is leading the line well.

FC Dallas will be without striker Blas Perez through suspension after his red card against Colorado meaning that Fabian Castillo will have slightly more pressure on his shoulders to inspire the Dallas side to victory on Friday night.

Key Points

Houston Dynamo’s last five: D/L/W/D/D

FC Dallas’ last five: D/L/L/W/D

Key Stat: FC Dallas have never come from behind to beat Houston Dynamo, so if Owen Coyle’s men can get in front they will expect to go on and secure at least one point.

Key Player: Brad Davis – The midfield maestro created two goals in Houston’s 4-4 draw with SKC and he has now recorded the third highest number of assists in MLS history with 115 in total. He’s an influential player and stopping his incisive passing is always tough for opponents.

Score Prediction

Houston Dynamo 1-1 FC Dallas – Anything can happen in a derby match, but this should be a closely contested encounter and the two Texas giants will share the spoils.

MLS Preview and Prediction: Colorado Rapids vs FC Dallas

Competition: Major League Soccer – Colorado Rapids vs. FC Dallas

Venue: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park – Friday, April 24th – 22:00 ET (03:00 BST)

Match Odds: Colorado Rapids 7/5 – Draw 12/5 – FC Dallas 9/5

Match Preview

Colorado Rapids entertain FC Dallas at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is the reverse fixture of their staggering 4-0 away win just two weeks ago.

That win in Dallas was the Rapids’ first and only win of the season so far and was a scoreline nobody saw coming. They were brought back down to earth last weekend though with a 3-1 home loss to Seattle Sounders.

Embed from Getty Images

Dallas ended their two-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Toronto last weekend and head coach Oscar Pareja will not be expecting a repeat of that performance from two weeks ago in this one.

The Rapids sit at the foot of the Western Conference on six points, while Dallas are flying high in second, but the visitors will want to force their way to the top of the table as soon as possible and will be looking for all three points in Colorado this week.

Blas Perez is joint-second highest goalscorer in the league so he will be expecting to find the net but it will be a tough task against a fairly tight defensive unit.

Pablo Mastroeni will know his side will be hard pushed to repeat their heroics from Toyota Stadium but will know his team have the upper-hand mentally and he desperately needs to get his side going to avoid falling further adrift at the bottom of the table.

Team News

Colorado Rapids have three injury concerns as Sam Cronin, Marc Burch and Dominique Badji could all be set to miss this one. Gabriel Torres played a key role in the 4-0 win, scoring once and assisting Dillon Serna, so Mastroeni will be hoping he can reproduce that display.

FC Dallas also have three concerns as Coy Craft, Stephen Keel and Dan Kennedy are all struggling with injuries. Blas Perez and Fabian Castillo have seven goals combined this season and their partnership could prove to be vital if they are to go all the way this season.

Key Points

Colorado Rapids’ last five: D/D/L/W/D

FC Dallas’ last five: W/D/L/L/W

Key Stat: Colorado Rapids’ only win of the season was against FC Dallas two weeks ago.

Embed from Getty Images
Key Player: Fabian Castillo – The Colombian speedster has been impressive so far this campaign and can unnerve the calmest of defenders with his trickery and pace.

Score Prediction

Colorado Rapids 1-2 FC Dallas – Dallas will be hard pushed for a win here, but we can expect them to find a result and avoid another shocking day at the office.

MLS Preview and Prediction: FC Dallas vs Toronto

Competition: Major League Soccer – FC Dallas vs. Toronto FC

Venue: Toyota Stadium – Saturday, April 18th – 20:30 ET (01:30 BST)

Match Odds: FC Dallas 19/20 – Draw 5/2 – Toronto 18/5

Match Preview

FC Dallas host Toronto FC on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium as they look to keep up the pressure on Vancouver Whitecaps at the top of the Western Conference.

Dallas started the season in fine form but now haven’t won in three games and Oscar Pareja needs to get his side back to winning ways.

Last week Dallas suffered a shock 4-0 defeat to lowly Colorado Rapids, which nobody would have predicted, and if they do not get back to winning ways this weekend it will be another dent in the Dallas players’ confidence.

Toronto have lost their last three games on the bounce after their opening weekend win at Vancouver and sit ninth in the Eastern Conference.

Greg Vanney’s side have been a little unlucky with their last two losses, but they’re leaking goals and Dallas will be looking to exploit their backline on Saturday.

Summer signing, Sebastian Giovinco, has netted just the once so far this campaign and the Toronto faithful will be hoping he can settle in and start to deliver the goods to get them out of this slump.

Both team will expect to make the playoffs come the end of the season and both need a win here to try and kickstart a run of form so it’s all to play for.

Team News

FC Dallas have four injury concerns as Coy Craft, Stephen Keel, Dan Kennedy and Mauro Diaz could all miss out. Blas Perez and Fabian Castillo can reignite Dallas if they can rediscover their form in this game and Toronto will need to be aware of the threat Tesho Akindele possesses.

Embed from Getty Images

Toronto could be without five players as Steven Caldwell, Damien Perquis, Mark Bloom, Eriq Zavaleta and Clement Simonin are all recovering from injuries. Warren Creavalle will also be absent as he is suspended. Michael Bradley featured in the USA’s 2-0 win over Mexico on Wednesday night so he may well be a little heavy-legged towards the end of the game providing he starts.

Key Points

FC Dallas’ form: W/W/D/L/L

Toronto’s form: W/L/L/L

Key Stat: Dallas haven’t lost to Toronto since 2011 and given the Reds’ recent form, that run may well be extended beyond this weekend.

Embed from Getty Images

Key Player: Blas Perez – The Dallas forward has the ability to get his side back on track if he is supplied with the service and his performance will be key.

Score Prediction

FC Dallas 1-1 Toronto – Both sides will be hoping they can end their barren run, but given neither has won in their last three we could see a tense and cagey affair. Nothing is certain however, as we saw last weekend with the Dallas score and Toronto would love to produce a similar performance to that of Colorado’s last Friday here.

MLS Preview and Prediction: FC Dallas vs Colorado Rapids

Competition: Major League Soccer –  FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids

Venue: Toyota Stadium – Friday, April 10th – 19:00 ET (00:00 BST)

Match Odds: FC Dallas 4/6 – Draw 11/4 – Colorado Rapids 4/1

Match Preview

FC Dallas entertain Colorado Rapids at Toyota Stadium in this week’s Friday night game as teams at opposite ends of the Western Conference go head-to-head.

FC Dallas have enjoyed a great start to the season, sitting second in the Supporters’ Shield standings on ten points from their opening five games. They have lost only once so far and have to fancy their chances of another three points at home in this one.

Embed from Getty Images

By contrast, Colorado Rapids have drawn three of their first four games and need to get that important first win of the season to get them off the foot of the Western Conference.

Dallas suffered a disappointing loss to the Portland Timbers last weekend and will be keen to get back to winning ways after two without a win now. The draw against Seattle Sounders isn’t a bad result but given their opening three wins, Oscar Pareja will be hoping for better this time out.

The worrying thing for Rapids coach, Pablo Mastroeni, is that his side haven’t actually scored a goal this season and that needs to change quickly to avoid it becoming a mental issue for his players.

The Colorado head coach won’t be able to direct his players from the touchline in this one though as he will serve a one-game suspension for the red card he received last weekend.

Embed from Getty Images

Blas Perez has an impressive three in his first four games and will hope he can add to his tally against a Rapids backline that didn’t look as solid in last week’s defeat to New England.

Dallas won all three of last season’s meetings against Colorado and have won their last four home games against the Rapids and everything is point towards that becoming five in a row on Friday.

Team News

FC Dallas have four injury concerns as Coy Craft, Stephen Keel, Dan Kennedy and Mauro Diaz could all be set to sit this one out. Dallas will be looking to their in-form forwards, Blas Perez, Fabian Castillo and Tesho Akindele to all continue to shine, having scored six between them so far this season.

Colorado Rapids could be without five as Carlos Alvarez, Drew Moor and Sam Cronin are all set to miss out through injury. Axel Sjoberg and Marc Burch are doubtful but will be pushing for a place in the squad. A goal from anywhere on the field is what the Rapids need, just to get off the mark for the season will be a huge relief.

Key Points

FC Dallas form: W/W/W/D/L

Colorado Rapids form: D/D/D/L

Key Stat: Goalless – The Rapids haven’t found the net in 10 hours of MLS action now and need to turn things around quickly after equalling a league record of 18 consecutive games without a win.

 Embed from Getty Images

Key Player: Blas Perez – The Dallas forward is in fine form and will surely continue his goalscoring form in this one.

Score Prediction

FC Dallas 3-1 Colorado Rapids – Rapids off the mark but not able to stop Dallas getting back to winning ways in what should be a largely one-sided affair.

MLS Preview and Prediction: FC Dallas vs San Jose Earthquakes

Competition: Major League Soccer – FC Dallas vs San Jose Earthquakes

Venue: Toyota Stadium – Saturday, March 7 – 20:30 ET (01:30 GMT – Sunday, 8)

Match Odds: FC Dallas 10/11 – Draw 12/5 – San Jose Earthquakes 3/1

Match Preview

FC Dallas entertain San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday in both sides’ opening game of the new 2015 Major League Soccer season.

Dallas ended their 2014 campaign in disappointment, being knocked out of the playoffs on away goals by Seattle Sounders, while the San Jose Earthquakes will be looking to end their horror run of 15 MLS games without a win as they start the new campaign with a clean slate.

Both sides have undergone some changes to the squad. Dallas have made changes in the hope of an improved season in the push for glory in the playoffs this time around, while the Earthquakes have had a rejig to freshen things up and try to put their nightmare run to an end.

FC Dallas have bought in six new faces, including; Otis Earle, Kyle Bekker and Dan Kennedy and shipped out 12 players this offseason. Head coach Oscar Pareja will be hoping his side can bond quickly as they will need to get off the mark with the best possible start, as home advantage is an important factor for the opening game of any season.

San Jose Earthquakes nine signings this winter include the likes of Marvell Wynne, Innocent Emeghara and Paulo Renato, while 11 players have departed. Dominic Kinnear’s side need to hit the ground running too, as the longer they go without a win the more the streak will impact their mentality.

Confidence will be key for the surviving Quakes players out of last season’s roster. New faces in the dressing room should lift spirits and those new names could be key to avoiding sitting at the foot of the Western Conference again.

Embed from Getty Images

Both sides should be feeling good ahead of the tie, with both teams winning four of their preseason games. San Jose will be in fine spirits after beating eventual playoff winners LA Galaxy last weekend, so there are lots of positives heading into the new season.

The San Jose Earthquakes’ away form was woeful last term and their last away win was in fact against FC Dallas, so they can take that positive into the tie. Dallas will be looking to avoid falling victim to the Quakes to avoid giving them their first away win in MLS in 12 attempts.

Team News

FC Dallas have the luxury of a fully fit squad. Match fitness shouldn’t be too far from ideal, but as we know there is a huge difference in the pace of preseason games in comparison to competitive fixtures.

San Jose Earthquakes will be without Mark Sherrod and Steven Lenhart (both knee), new signing Innocent Emeghara (shoulder), Clarence Goodson (foot) and Jordan Stewart (calf) could also miss out for the away side and are all doubts for the game.

Key Points

FC Dallas’ form: N/A

San Jose Earthquakes’ form: N/A

Key Stat: The Quakes’ last away win in MLS came at FC Dallas last May and they have not won their past 12 on the road. A lot has changed since that away victory in Texas last season but a repeat victory could be on the cards.

Embed from Getty Images

Key Player: Fabian Castillo – The Colombian speedster notched ten goals in 27 regular season games last campaign, which saw him earn a bumper five-year contract this offseason. Dallas will be hoping his input can push them into the playoffs again and he will look to start the season with a goal as he did last year, netting the sides’ first goal of the 2014 campaign.

Score Prediction

FC Dallas 2-1 San Jose Earthquakes – FC Dallas began last season with a home win and need a repeat of that to get them moving in the right direction for the playoffs early on in the season. Given how tight the Western Conference looks set to be this year, it is essential to rack up points early and not be chasing the playoff pack. The Earthquakes are looking much better for the new season but this game might be too tough a test.
