Former Spurs and FC Barcelona star wanted by LA Galaxy

Former Tottenham Hotspur and FC Barcelona forward Giovani Dos Santos confirms LA Galaxy are interested in signing him and has praised Major League Soccer ahead of a potential switch stateside.

The Mexican international, currently at Spanish side Villarreal, is interested in a move to Major League Soccer, reported by mlssoccer.com.

“[The Galaxy are] a team that has always been after me and of course all the talks are just rumors and it’s something that’s been talked about for the past two years.

“In soccer you never know where you will end up. Up to this day I have a contract with Villarreal and I am currently 100 percent focused with the national team.”

Dos Santos has played alongside and against some of the best players in world football and is a very skilful individual.

The 26-year-old Mexican further fuelled speculation of a move to Galaxy as he did little to quash the talk of the MLS Cup holders interest.

“Yes of course, it’s one of the teams that wants me, just like there’s other teams in Europe that also want me.

“And of course I can’t shut the doors to any team and as a soccer player you never know where you will end up tomorrow.”

Dos Santos is impressed with the growth of the league it isn’t surprised it is attracting the superstars who continue to make the move to MLS.

“Like I said, it’s a league that’s growing. The names speak for themselves. It’s players that are stars worldwide and it’s a league that wants to continue to grow. The few MLS games that I’ve been able to watch I think it’s a league that has grown a lot and it’s a league that we need to respect and a league that’s generating attention.”

Dos Santos would more than likely be signing as a Designated Player, assuming Omar Gonzalez would lose his DP role.

New changes to roster rules have seen Targeted Allocation Money introduced to help sides accommodate top players who won’t necessarily qualify as designated players.

That could see Dos Santos sign on a non-DP deal for now, or Gonzalez’s contract ‘bought down’ immediately.

Would Dos Santos be a good signing for Galaxy?

Chelsea, City and United handed HUGE boost in race for £58m-rated superstar

Premier League trio ChelseaManchester City and Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Juventus superstar Paul Pogba as the Italian club are looking to rebuild this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been on the radar of some of European football’s giants after yet another impressive season and Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain are said to be chasing his services.

It is reported that PSG made the Frenchman an astonishing £210,000-a-week offer, but Pogba’s representatives are looking for more as interest in the Frenchman is so high.

His services are going to set back any potential outfit around £58 million and with Financial Fair Play regulations, clubs will need to be selling at least one top player in order to fund any possible move.

There has been previous talk of player-plus-cash deals, especially surrounding Chelsea with regards to Oscar heading to Juventus. But Jose Mourinho hasn’t given any indications that he plans to allow the Brazilian playmaker to depart and Oscar has claimed he is settled.

With Yaya Toure’s departure from Manchester City looking imminent that seems a more likely destination than Chelsea, but City will need to be working hard to meet the regulations of FFP.

The excitement around this deal is continually on the rise and it could be a summer-long saga for a club to secure his services in such a huge move, not too dissimilar to Gareth Bale’s move in 2013, as Pogba looks to be the number one target for club’s across Europe.

Chelsea’s hopes of OUTRAGEOUS £200m transfer dead and buried

Chelsea‘s chances of completing the most outrageous transfer of all time are completely over as their reported £200 million transfer target, Lionel Messi, is fully focused on life with FC Barcelona.

The four-time Ballon d’Or winner had a slow start to the season after injuries affected his summer after his World Cup final disappointment in Brazil.

Chelsea came in as favourites to sign the 27-year-old striker, according to the Express, after his high-profile spat with Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique, but they stalled on a January offer due to UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rulings.

Messi has now put uncertainty behind him and is happy with Barcelona in Spain, he told fcbarcelona.com.

“I was inconsistent last season. I was out for a while due to injury, missing quite a few games,

“When I came back I didn’t feel right. It was a year that I have tried to quickly forget to try and get back to my best through hard work, smiling and effort, like I always have and now, fortunately, I feel very good.”

Messi has netted 34 league goals in 31 appearances so far this season and is on track to help Barca secure yet another league title.

The Argentine superstar will be in action on Wednesday evening as he will be under the spotlight once again as Barcelona face Paris Saint-Germain in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.

Any hopes of seeing Messi move to the Premier League with Chelsea look to be over as a move away from Camp Nou looks to be extremely unlikely.

Liverpool plotting double raid on Barcelona for exciting duo

As the Raheem Sterling saga continues at Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers is apparently monitoring potential replacements for the English winger, and could turn to Spanish giants FC Barcelona for options.

Spanish international, Pedro could be on the move this summer after he is reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing time at the club. It comes as no surprise with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez ahead of him in the pecking order.

Pedro has a wealth of experience and he has already won some of the world’s most prestigious trophies. The 27-year-old attacker won the World Cup twice and a European Championship with Spain, and he has also won the Champions League with Barcelona twice, scoring against Manchester United in the 2011 final.

Pedro spoke to ESPN earlier this week about his frustration and long-term interest from Liverpool could tempt him away this summer.

“When you do not have playing time, of course you do not feel one of the important players.

“Playing few games, not many minutes, it is normal that there can be talk of leaving, that is logical. It is the same for all players, everyone wants to play. When you do not play in important games, then it is a difficult situation.”

This is the biggest hint Pedro has dropped so far that he is considering leaving the club and at 27, he could hold the key to what Rodgers’ side need to push for European football again next season.

The Metro have reported that Liverpool are also interested in former Everton loanee, Gerard Deulofeu, who is still contracted to Barcelona. The winger is set to be sold this summer upon returning to his parent club after a loan spell at Sevilla.

The Catalan youngster showed his potential at Everton but struggled to tie down a regular first team place, which has been the story of his career so far. If given the chance for an extended run in the squad, his real talent could emerge.

Liverpool are hoping to tie down Raheem Sterling to a new contract but won’t negotiate a deal until the summer, and with top clubs around Europe circling, they will need to have possible replacements lined up.
