Premier League Preview and Prediction: Chelsea vs Tottenham

Competition: Premier League – Chelsea FC vs. Tottenham Hotspur FC

Venue: Stamford Bridge – Monday, May 2 – 20:00 BST (15:00 ET)

Match Odds: Chelsea 13/8 – Draw 12/5 – Tottenham 6/4

Match Preview

Chelsea face Tottenham in the latest Premier League London derby on Monday night, with the Blues looking to further dent Spurs’ fading title hopes.

The title race could actually be over by the time this game kicks off. If Leicester beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, they will seal the title and that will slightly reduce the importance of this game.

However, clashes between Chelsea and Spurs are always important for both sets of fans and this is expected to be an intense battle, even if the end of the season is near.

The Blues have had a year to forget but they did beat Bournemouth 4-1 in their last fixture. Winning a first home league game since February will now be the aim on Monday.

Spurs have had an incredible season and even if they miss out on the title, fans have plenty of reason for optimism for years ahead.

Mauricio Pochettino has done an incredible job and has reportedly agreed to a new five-year contract with the club.

The Lilywhites are unbeaten in seven and have only lost one of their last ten London derbies in the Premier League (W5 D4 L1).

However, Chelsea will be confident of avoiding defeat, having not lost at home to Spurs in the league for 26 years.

Team News

Chelsea will be without Thibaut Courtois as he serves the second of his two-game ban so Asmir Begovic will continue between the sticks. Kurt Zouma and Loic Remy both remain sidelined with injuries, while John Terry and Gary Cahill are doubts.

Tottenham will be without Dele Alli for the remainder of the season after he was handed a three-game ban for violent conduct in last week’s 1-1 draw with West Brom. Eric Dier is a doubt with concussion, while Nabil Bentaleb is definitely out.

Key Points

Chelsea’s last five: D/W/L/L/W

Tottenham’s last five: W/D/W/W/D

Key Stat: Tottenham have not beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League since 1990, winning 17 and drawing eight of the 25 games since.

Key Player: Harry Kane – Tottenham’s goal machine has 13 goals in his last 14 league outings and has netted five in his last three on the road. He seems to thrive in London derbies and Chelsea will need to mark him tightly.

Score Prediction

Chelsea 1-2 Tottenham – This should be a tight affair despite the 18-point gap between the two sides. Chelsea will look to end the season as strongly as they can, while also looking to beat their local rivals. Tottenham, though, have proved to be a real force all season and will be out to finish the campaign as best they can after last week’s disappointing 1-1 draw with West Brom.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham vs West Brom

Competition: Premier League – Tottenham Hotspur vs. West Bromwich Albion

Venue: White Hart Lane – Monday, April 25 – 20:00 BST (15:00 ET)

Match Odds: Tottenham 2/9 – Draw 5/1 – West Brom 14/1

Match Preview

Tottenham host West Brom on Monday night as they look to keep their Premier League title charge alive with the end of the season drawing ever closer.

Spurs will be closely watching Leicester’s game with Swansea on Sunday and will be hoping the Foxes drop points as they did last weekend, with the Lilywhites ready to pounce on any mistakes when they play a day later.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team have impressed all year, but last week’s 4-0 demolition of Stoke at the Britannia was one of the best away performances any team has put in this season.

Tottenham were unplayable and could have scored six or seven goals. If they play with the same intensity this week, West Brom will stand little chance in halting their progress.

The Baggies are stuck in limbo with four games to go. They have little to play for, with relegation seemingly impossible, and so it’s perhaps difficult for Tony Pulis to motivate his players.

West Brom sit ten points clear of safety with four to go. They have reached that magical ’40-point’ mark and are now seemingly waiting for the season to end.

They come into this game in poor form, having lost three in a row, and are looking to end a five-game winless run at White Hart Lane on Monday.

The Baggies lost 2-0 away at Arsenal on Thursday night and the lack of recovery time ahead of this game will likely play into Tottenham’s hands.

The reverse fixture saw the sides draw 1-1 at the Hawthorns, with Dele Alli’s early strike cancelled out by James McClean before halftime. Tottenham have only won one of their last five clashes against the Baggies but will hope to cruise to three points on Monday.

Team News

Mauricio Pochettino has just one injury concern as Nabil Bentaleb remains out. Clinton N’Jie is not yet fit enough to feature but will be pushing for a place on the substitutes bench. Pochettino is expected to name an unchanged team to the one that swept Stoke away last Monday.

West Brom have only had three days to prepare for this game following their Thursday night loss at Arsenal. Tony Pulis will not be able to call on Spurs loanee Alex Pritchard, while Chris Brunt and James Morrison remain injured.

Key Points

Tottenham’s last five: W/W/D/W/W

West Brom’s last five: L/D/L/L/L

Key Stat: West Brom have only lost one of their last five Premier League visits to White Hart Lane (W1 D3), with Tottenham’s last home win against the Baggies coming in 2012.

Key Player: Harry Kane – Tottenham’s star striker has proved his critics wrong by enjoying another fine season. He leads the scoring chart with 24 and is now just two strikes away from hitting 50 Premier League goals. After scoring eight in his last six league outings, Kane will expect to find the net against the Baggies here.

Score Prediction

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom – Tottenham are playing some incredible football and don’t look to be running out of steam at a crucial part of the season. Regardless of the Leicester result on Sunday, Spurs will be out to seal three points and should prove far too strong for the Baggies. West Brom have only scored once in their last five outings and will struggle to penetrate a strong Tottenham defence here.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United

Competition: Premier League – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United

Venue: White Hart Lane – Sunday, April 10 – 16:00 BST (11:00 ET)

Match Odds: Tottenham Hotspur 10/11 – Draw 5/2 – Manchester United 3/1

Match Preview

Tottenham welcome Manchester United to White Hart Lane on Sunday in a game which could define either side’s season.

Spurs are still in the title race, but are hanging on by a thread, as they trail leaders Leicester City by seven points with six games to go. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have to ensure they win all of their remaining games and hope some of their fellow Premier League sides can do them some favours in a final bid to win the title.

Last weekend was difficult for Tottenham, as their 1-1 draw with Liverpool saw them fall another two points behind the leaders, but this has still been a fantastic season for Pochettino’s side, who look likely to finish runners-up.

Spurs have lost just once in their last 11 league outings and will be looking to continue that run here. This will be a tough test for them though as they take on an in-form United side.

Manchester United are still in the race for a Champions League spot. They are currently 5th, just one point outside the top four and are fighting tooth and nail to qualify for the Champions League.

Much like Spurs they have to ensure they win every game until the end of the season to give themselves the best chance of achieving a top four finish, so this is a game neither side can afford to lose.

After this match they have three straight home fixtures, so Louis Van Gaal will attempt to make sure they do everything possible to come away from White Hart Lane with three points this weekend to give them the foundation to win all six of their remaining fixtures.

United have already beaten Spurs this season, back on the opening day, and are only one of four sides to do so in the league this campaign so they have to fancy their chances.

Team News

Tottenham Hotspur have four injury concerns heading into this tie. Clinton N’Jie and Nabil Bentaleb are both expected to miss out, while Jan Vertonghen and Erik Lamela are both doubtful.

Manchester United are expecting to be without Luke Shaw, Wayne Rooney, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Will Keane, while Daley Blind is a doubt.

Key Points

Tottenham Hotspur’s last five: L/D/W/W/D

Manchester United’s last five: W/W/L/W/W

Key Stat: Manchester United are unbeaten in 31 of their last 33 games against Spurs in all competitions.

Key Player: Harry Kane – The Tottenham forward continues to provide for his side and has now netted 22 goals in 32 league games. The Spurs faithful will be hoping their key man can do it once again this weekend.

Score Prediction

Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 Manchester United – In a tie which could have such huge implications on both these sides’ seasons, there is going to be immense pressure on the players. Neither side can afford anything but a win, so a draw is looking a likely outcome as they could cancel each other out. This result could all but end the title race and could potentially be devastating for United’s hopes of achieving a top four finish.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

Competition: Premier League – Liverpool vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Match Odds: Liverpool 6/4 – Draw 12/5 – Tottenham 7/4

Match Preview

Liverpool welcome Premier League title chasers Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield this weekend in a game which is usually packed full of action.

Jurgen Klopp’s side suffered a shock 3-2 defeat to Southampton before the international break after having a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

European football is still on the agenda for Liverpool, they sit 9th but are only six points off the top four, we can expect plenty of changes to the table during the run-in to the end of the season.

Liverpool have scored 18 goals and are unbeaten against Tottenham in the last six meetings between the sides.

Tottenham are still within a shout of winning the league, they are five points off top spot so they must ensure they win every game until the end of the season to do everything they can to challenge for the title.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side look destined for a top four finish now barring an unthinkable run of poor form, Spurs fans would have been more than happy with their side securing Champions League football at the start of the season.

Tottenham secured a convincing 3-0 win over Bournemouth before the international break. They started that game incredibly well, scoring within a minute, if they can start this game in similar fashion they will no doubt cause Liverpool problems.

Team News

Liverpool have six injury concerns coming into this tie. Christian Benteke, Joe Gomez, Danny Ings, Lucas Leiva and Jordan Rossiter are all out, while Roberto Firmino is a doubt.

Tottenham have a shorter injury list, with just four players who could miss out. Nabil Bentaleb and Clinton N’Jie are both expected to be out, while Jan Vertonghen and Erik Lamela are both doubts.

Key Points

Liverpool’s last five: D/W/W/W/L

Tottenham’s last five: W/L/D/W/W

Key Stat: Liverpool are unbeaten in 15 of their last 16 home games against Spurs in all competitions.

Key Player: Harry Kane – The Spurs goal machine has netted 21 in the league this season and scored a stunner for England to spark their comeback against Germany in the international break, he is in great form and will be looking to cause Liverpool problems this weekend.

Score Prediction

Liverpool 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur – Tottenham to just edge it and put a winless run of six games against Liverpool behind them. If Spurs are to lose in this one they could find themselves completely out of the race for the title, so there is added pressure on Pochettino’s side to perform here.

International Friendly Preview and Prediction: Germany vs England

Competition: International Friendly – Germany vs England

Venue: Olympiastadion, Germany – Saturday, March 26 – 19:45 GMT (15:45 ET)

Match Odds: Germany 8/13 – Draw 29/10 – England 17/4

Match Preview

Three-time European Championship winners and current World champions Germany welcome England to the Olympiastadion on Saturday evening in a friendly tie that should be full of action.

The footballing machine that is Germany are arguably the best national team in the world at the moment and have a squad brimming with confidence.

They do however come into this friendly off the back of a 2-0 loss to France last time out in a game that will live long in the memory of players and fans alike for heartbreaking and disastrous reasons off the field.

This should be a good test for Germany ahead of the Euro’s and a tie for all to enjoy. They face Italy next so it’s going to be a tough international break for Joachim Löw’s side. Germany have won three of the last four meetings between these sides and will expect home advantage to help them through.

England have a lot to be optimistic about heading into this tie in what is a new era for Roy Hodgson’s side. There are a lot of young and upcoming top talents in the squad and two exciting goal-machines upfront in the form of Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy – the Premier League’s top two goalscorers.

Hodgson will be able to test out some different variations in this tie and it will again provide a test for the squad he has chosen. This will be also be a tough international break for England, as they face the Netherlands three days after this outing, so rotation is expected throughout.

England also played France in their last outing but they had a more favourable result, winning 2-0 at Wembley.

Hodgson’s side are held in high regard by Löw, who expects them to challenge to win Euro 2016 in France this summer, so this is a great chance to prove to any doubters England are more than capable of causing problems for the very best.

Team News

The German squad is as strong as ever, with some of the highest regarded players once again earning a call up. The fierce attacking options at Löw’s disposal are frightening, with the likes of Thomas Muller, Marco Reus, Mesut Ozil and Karim Bellarabi expecting to start in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Toni Kroos and Sami Khedira are expecting to fill the holding role, with Mats Hummels and Shkodran Mustafi in line to feature as the centre-back paring. Familiar faces included in the squad such as Andre Schurrle, Mario Gotze, Mario Gomez and Emre Can will all be pushing to feature. Bastain Schweinsteiger has been ruled out through injury.

England are without regular goalkeeper Joe Hart, so Jack Butland is expected to start. The Tottenham Hotspur contingency in the squad, Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Harry Kane will hope their fine Premier League performances this season will be enough to gain some minutes in this tie. Hodgson has a solid squad heading into the clash with the likes of Jamie Vardy, James Milner, Chris Smalling and Jordan Henderson all having consistent domestic seasons. Danny Drinkwater will be itching to make his senior England debut and what a game it could be for him to feature in. Wayne Rooney and Raheem Sterling are both out through injury.

Key Points

Germany’s last five: W/W/L/W/L

England’s last five: W/W/W/L/W

Key Stat: England have only lost once in their last 17 games.

Key Player: Manuel Neuer – The German ‘keeper, widely regarded as the best in the world and equally as good with the ball at his feet, will prove as always so difficult to get the better of.

Embed from Getty Images

Score Prediction

Germany 2-1 England – The German national side will prove to have just a little too much for England to deal with on Saturday. This game should provide both sides with a taster of what is to come from the Euro’s this summer and give both head coaches ideas of areas they will need to improve upon with just over two months to go.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur

Competition: Premier League – Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Venue: Villa Park – Sunday, March 13 – 16:00 GMT (11:00 ET)

Match Odds: Aston Villa 13/2 – Draw 16/5 – Tottenham 4/9

Match Preview

Premier League strugglers Aston Villa welcome title chasing Tottenham Hotspur to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon in a game between two sides with very different aims.

Villa are on a four game losing streak coming into this one and have been leaking goals in recent games. They lost 4-0 to Manchester City last weekend despite being 0-0 at halftime and looked a depleted side.

Rémi Garde’s side sit bottom of the Premier League. They are nine points away from safety and although relegation is not yet confirmed they’re favourites for the drop.

Tottenham come into this tie off the back of their 2-2 draw in the North London Derby last weekend – although it was a good point they will rue not taking all three from being in a winning position.

Spurs trail leaders Leicester City by five points but this title race is still wide open. As the season has proved any side is capable of taking points off of one-another so Mauricio Pochettino will be expecting nothing than maximum effort from his players here.

A top four finish is not yet guaranteed for Spurs despite how good of a season they have had. Even though they are pushing hard for their first title since the 1960/61 campaign they must still ensure they are keeping the distance between them and the sides below.

Team News

Aston Villa have five injury concerns heading into this tie. Libor Kozak, Adama Traore, Jordan Amavi, Carlos Sanchez and Jack Grealish are all expected to be out.

Tottenham have just three injury concerns. Pochettino rested a number of his key players in their Europa League loss midweek but is still expecting to be without Clinton N’Jie and Jan Vertonghen, while Danny Rose is a doubt.

Key Points

Aston Villa’s last five: W/L/L/L/L

Tottenham’s last five: W/W/W/L/D

Key Stat: Aston Villa have conceded 15 goals in their last four games.

Key Player: Harry Kane – The Tottenham goal-machine has netted 17 in the Premier League this season including that stunning effort against Arsenal last weekend, as always we expect him to be key and full of confidence.

Score Prediction

Aston Villa 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur – Spurs should’t have too much trouble taking all three points here, as last weekend proved it’s a case of getting the first goal against Aston Villa. Hugo Lloris will be desperate to keep a clean sheet and Pochettino’s side have to keep applying the pressure to Leicester so if there is a slip up from the leaders they can capitalise and gain ground.

Stats: Is Harry Kane on track to beat last season’s Premier League goal haul?

Today we explore if Harry Kane is on track to top his Premier League goal tally of 21 from the 2014/15 season in the final nine games of the current campaign…

Tottenham Hotspur are chasing their first domestic league title since the 1960/61 season. They are currently in second place, five points behind leaders Leicester City. To stand the best chance of winning the title, they will need their key players on form for the remaining nine games of the season.

And one man who will need to carry his side through the final stages is Harry Kane. The English forward has played a pivotal role in a vast amount of games again this season, including his stunning strike in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last weekend – but is he going to better last season’s tally of 21 Premier League goals in the remaining fixtures?

Embed from Getty Images

Below are his standout offensive statistics from the current Premier League season, compared to his figures from 2014/15 campaign.

Harry Kane Apps Goals Shot Acc Strike Rate Shots Per Game Minutes Per Goal Mins Played
2015/16 29 17 63% 0.58 4 150 2561
2014/15 34 21 58% 0.61 3.3 123 2582

Table: Harry Kane’s attacking statistics over the last two Premier League seasons (statistics provided by Squawka).

As we can see Kane netted 21 goals in 34 appearances last season, compared to his total of 17 in 29 so far in 2015/16. He has improved his shot accuracy by five percent but his strike rate has marginally dropped.

Kane is averaging four shots per game, which is an increase of 0.7 from the 14/15 campaign but his minutes-per-goal ratio has increased by 27 minutes over the past year, meaning goals are coming less frequently for the 22-year-old Spurs star.

He has played almost the same number of minutes (2561) in his 29 appearances this season compared to 34 appearances (2582) from the 14/15 campaign and will continue to be relied upon through the final stages of the campaign.

Embed from Getty Images

With those statistics in mind, Kane would fail to reach a higher amount of goals by the time he reaches 34 games. He will hypothetically only find the net three times in his next five appearances, based on his current goal output figures.

But it must be noted that, providing Kane stays injury-free until the end of the season, he has nine games left in the Premier League. If he features in all nine – which is more than likely – he will have made four more appearances than in the 14/15 season and would have played in every Premier League game this term.

With the remaining nine outings offering 810 minutes at the very least, Kane’s output of 150 minutes-per-goal would see him find the net at least five more times.

So with that in mind, Kane’s overall tally this season should approach the 22 goal mark, going one better than he manager last year.

Can Harry Kane fire Tottenham to the Premier League title? Will he beat his tally of 21 Premier League goals from last season?

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham vs Arsenal

Competition: Premier League – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal

Venue: White Hart Lane – Saturday, March 5 – 12:45 GMT (07:45 ET)

Match Odds: Tottenham 13/10 – Draw 12/5 – Arsenal 2/1

Match Preview

Tottenham face fierce rivals Arsenal in what is probably the biggest North London Derby in Premier League history on Saturday afternoon, with so much at stake at the top of the table.

Three points is all that separate these two coming into the game. Tottenham sit second, with Arsenal just behind in third. Both are chasing Leicester at the top and know this game is their most important of the season so far.

Spurs can go top of the league for at least a few hours with a win against their arch enemies here, and Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to see his side put in a better display than they did in the 1-0 loss at West Ham Wednesday night.

Embed from Getty Images

That defeat was just Tottenham’s fourth of the season and their first away from home since the opening weekend. Spurs have not lost back-to-back games in all competitions all year and will expect to avoid defeat in this pivotal fixture.

Arsenal come into the North London Derby in trouble. They lost their second-straight league game on Wednesday evening at home to Swansea and are now without a win in four in all competitions, with their season spiraling out of control quickly.

Arsene Wenger has come under enormous pressure from Arsenal fans yet again, as the club looks set to waste a great chance of winning the title once more. However, a win at Tottenham on Saturday would give the fans a huge boost and would catapult the Gunners back into contention.

The worry for Arsenal is that they’ve only won one of their last five away games in the Premier League, while injuries to Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny have done little to boost their chances of success here.

Embed from Getty Images

These two sides played out an entertaining 1-1 in the reverse fixture this season, although Arsenal have already won at White Hart Lane this campaign in a 2-1 League Cup victory back in September.

Both sides fielded weakened sides that night, though, and Spurs come into this one as favourites. The Lilywhites won the corresponding fixture 2-1 last year and will be dreaming of a repeat result this time around.

Team News

Tottenham will be hoping Moussa Dembele is fit enough to start here, although he remains doubtful. Jan Vertonghen and Clinton N’Jie remain sidelined through injury, but those three players are Pochettino’s only concerns. Kyle Walker, Danny Rose and Dele Alli are expected to come back into the side after starting on the bench in Wednesday’s loss at West Ham.

Arsenal have been rocked by the loss of Petr Cech in the build up to their biggest game of the season. The goalkeeper picked up an injury late on in the loss to Swansea on Wednesday, and Wenger confirmed he and Laurent Koscielny will both miss this clash. They join Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tomas Rosicky, Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere on the sidelines. Danny Welbeck could start ahead of Olivier Giroud, while Joel Campbell should retain his place on the right.

Key Points

Tottenham’s last five: W/W/W/W/L

Arsenal’s last five: D/W/W/L/L

Key Stat: Tottenham have only won one of their last seven meetings with Arsenal in all competitions (D2 L4).

Key Player: Harry Kane – The Tottenham striker has enjoyed another fine season and will be looking to score his fourth goal against Arsenal in what will be just his third Premier League game against the Gunners. He will expect to benefit from the losses of Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny in the Arsenal defence and will be dangerous.

Embed from Getty Images

Score Prediction

Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal – This is such a huge fixture for both clubs and is very difficult to predict. However, Tottenham are expected to edge it with home advantage and key injuries to Arsenal’s backline helping their chances. Pochettino’s men wasted the chance to go top of the table on Wednesday night but should move to the top for at least a few hours with a win over their fiercest of rivals. An Arsenal defeat here would really pile the pressure on Arsene Wenger and he will be desperate to see his team put in a better display than they have over the last two games.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham vs Leicester

Competition: Premier League – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City

Venue: White Hart Lane – Wednesday, January 13 – 20:00 GMT (15:00 ET)

Match Odds: Spurs 3/4 – Draw 14/5 – Leicester 100/30

Match Preview

Tottenham host Leicester for the second time in four days on Wednesday night, with the two sides meeting in the Premier League this time around after Sunday’s 2-2 FA Cup draw.

Spurs needed a late Harry Kane penalty to earn a replay, despite taking the lead early on against the Foxes in Sunday’s game, and will be desperate to go one better and win this one.

The two sides are separated by four points at the top of the Premier League, with Leicester sitting second on 40 points after 20 games, and so a Spurs win would close the gap and further increase their Champions League hopes.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have only lost twice all season and come into this game unbeaten in four league matches.

Leicester will be desperate to leave White Hart Lane with three points themselves, as they know a victory will give their top four hopes a huge boost.

Claudio Ranieri’s men played well against Spurs in the cup on Sunday but they have now gone four games without a win in all competitions and need to try and pick back up if they are to continue to impress.

The reverse fixture in the league ended 1-1 in August and more attacking football is expected in North London on Wednesday evening.

Team News

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino made seven changes for the game against Leicester on Sunday and will likely recall a number of first team regulars here. Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen, Erik Lamela, Kyle Walker and Hugo Lloris will expect to come back into the side. Clinton N’Jie is the only certain absentee through injury, though Ryan Mason, Alex Pritchard and Moussa Dembele are all doubts.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri made eight changes for Sunday’s FA Cup match at White Hart Lane and, just like Pochettino, will recall several regulars to the side here. Jamie Vardy is a doubt as he recovers from groin surgery but he will make the bench at the very least. Jeffrey Schlupp and Matthew James are both definitely out.

Key Points

Tottenham’s last five: L/W/W/W/D

Leicester’s last five: W/W/L/D/D

Key Stat: Both teams have scored in each of the last eleven games between these two in all competitions, with a total of 47 goals scored in those eleven matches – an average of 4.2 per game.

Key Player: Harry Kane – The Spurs striker scored a late penalty against Leicester in their FA Cup clash on Sunday and will hope to hurt the Foxes once again on Wednesday.

Score Prediction

Tottenham 2-1 Leicester – This is likely to be another entertaining game between two sides that have plenty of goals to offer. Spurs may hold the psychological edge after netting the late equaliser on Sunday and will hope that home advantage can help them to seal three points in what is a huge game for both.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham vs Chelsea

Competition: Premier League – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea

Venue: White Hart Lane – Sunday, November 29 – 12:00 GMT (07:00 ET)

Match Odds: Spurs 6/4 – Draw 12/5 – Chelsea 7/4

Match Preview

Tottenham host Chelsea in the latest clash between the London rivals in what is another massive fixture for both sides.

Spurs have proved to be very solid so far this season and have the longest unbeaten streak in the Premier League still alive, having not lost for 12 games since the opening day defeat to Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have the second best defensive record in the Premier League so far and will see Sunday’s game with Chelsea as another ideal opportunity to prove their credentials.

Tottenham’s Premier League record: P13 – W6 – D6 – L1

They beat West Ham 4-1 at White Hart Lane last Sunday and will be hoping for a similar result against their London rivals this weekend, though they did have to travel to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag on Thursday and could be tired after that 1-0 win.

Chelsea travel to Spurs as underdogs – something that’s rarely said going into this fixture. Their terrible start to the season has left many doubting them on a weekly basis and they can expect another real test on Sunday.

They managed to end a three-game losing streak in the league by beating Norwich 1-0 last Saturday and then followed that up with a 4-0 Champions League victory at Maccabi Tel Aviv on Tuesday so they might have turned a corner.

Chelsea’s Premier League record: P13 – W4 – D2 – L7

Jose Mourinho is still under pressure though and he will be seeking revenge against Spurs for their 5-3 loss at White Hart Lane back in January.

Tottenham have only won one of their last 12 games against the Blues in all competitions and will be hoping home comforts can help them beat their rivals for a second successive season.

Team News

Tottenham will be without young star Dele Alli as he will serve a one-game suspension as a result of yellow card accumulation. Moussa Dembele could therefore drop deeper in midfield, allowing Christian Eriksen to play behind Kane. Nacer Chadli and Alex Pritchard remain sidelined through injury, while Erik Lamela is a doubt after missing the midweek trip to Qarabag.

Chelsea will still be without Thibaut Courtois, though the young ‘keeper is nearing a return to action. Radamel Falcao also misses out, with John Terry a major doubt after limping off in the Blues’ win in Tel Aviv on Tuesday. Cesc Fabregas and Ramires are both doubts but should be passed fit.

Key Points

Tottenham’s last five: D/W/W/D/W

Chelsea’s last five: W/L/L/L/W

Key Stat: Chelsea have not won back-to-back Premier League games this season.

Key Player: Harry Kane – Impossible to overlook the English striker. He seems to thrive in London derbies and found the net twice in that 5-3 win against Chelsea last season. Expect him to be a real threat.

Score Prediction

Tottenham 2-1 Chelsea – This is a huge game for both clubs but Spurs should just edge it as they have been excellent this season and boast the best home form in the division. Chelsea will look to trouble their rivals but having already beaten City and West Ham 4-1 at White Hart Lane, Tottenham will be confident.
