Inter Milan ‘desperate’ to bring in Andrea Pirlo on loan from NYCFC

Inter Milan are looking to bring Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo back to Serie A just six months after leaving to join New York City FC in MLS, according to reports out of Italy.

Sport Mediaset claim Inter boss Roberto Mancini is desperate to bring Pirlo in on loan from January through to the start of the new MLS season in March.

Pirlo, who joined Inter as a 19-year-old in 1998, has said he is not looking for a loan move to fill his time during the MLS offseason as he would rather focus on his NYCFC commitments ahead of his first full season.

“No, I do not think I will go to Europe, it would not be fair to my team,” he recently told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“All I’m thinking about is training this offseason for the 2016 campaign at New York.”

Inter Milan would not be the first Serie A side to look to MLS as a way of strengthening during the winter. Fierce rivals AC Milan twice loaned David Beckham from LA Galaxy in 2008 and 2009.

Pirlo joined New York City in July and went on to make 13 MLS appearances towards the end of the regular season. He will be disappointed not to have scored a goal but will look to improve in 2016 as the expansion franchise look to bounce back after not making the playoffs at the first attempt.

Should Andrea Pirlo consider a loan move to Inter Milan? How important will he be to NYCFC next season?

Arsenal attacker “eager” to make MLS switch this summer – report

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski is reportedly keen on making a move to Major League Soccer this summer as he doesn’t look to have a future in the Premier League with the Gunners.

Podolski spent the last six months on loan in Italy with Serie A side Inter Milan but he struggled to impress, scoring just one league goal in 17 games under Roberto Mancini.

The World Cup winner could now be set for a new challenge with MLS an exciting option for the player, according to Greg Seltzer of the No Short Corners blog.

In his report, Seltzer says: “I am told that the Gunners are now likely willing to A) loan him out initially & B) pay a considerable chunk of his salary. Seriously, everyone involved is pretty eager to get him moved across the Atlantic – he just needs a team that believes he’s worth the expense.”

The 29-year-old attacker would surely demand a Designated Player contract were he to move stateside, though if Arsenal are indeed willing to pay a chunk of his wages, that won’t be quite as daunting as it sounds.

Podolski is a talented attacker with an eye for goal. He can play out wide or through the middle and would be an exciting addition to a number of clubs.

Expansion franchises Orlando City and New York City have previously rejected the chance to sign him but may revisit the situation now. Though they can expect competition for his signature as Turkish side Galatasaray and German club Wolfsburg are also being linked with a move.

Would Lukas Podolski be a good signing for an MLS side?

Liverpool closing in on £18m-rated Arsenal target as Gerrard replacement

Liverpool have reportedly made an offer for Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic as they look to fill the void left by Steven Gerrard as he leaves for MLS side LA Galaxy, according to the Express.

The 21-year-old has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool initially made an offer of £7.5m which was rejected by the Italian club.

But now Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Liverpool have returned with a new offer of £12.9m for the Croatian youngster.

Despite the improved offer, it’s expected that Inter are likely to turn it down as they are hoping to hold out for a figure closer to the £18m mark for one of their key players.

With Liverpool stepping up their interest, it could force Arsenal into action if they are to further pursue the possibility of bringing Kovacic to the club.

Kovacic is a versatile midfielder capable of playing numerous roles whether it be as an attacking midfielder, box-to-box player or in the holding role.

The Croatian international made 34 appearances, scored five goals and made two assists for Inter in Serie A this season.

Would Mateo Kovacic be an ideal replacement for Steven Gerrard?

Chelsea suffer blow as star is open to joining Arsenal or United

Chelsea have suffered a huge blow as Petr Cech‘s agent has revealed his client is open to a move to Arsenal or Manchester United.

Both Arsenal and United are expected to dip into the transfer market for new goalkeepers. Arsene Wenger could seek an upgrade for David Ospina and David de Gea’s Real Madrid saga is still ongoing.

Cech would be a great addition for either club, having won almost every trophy available during his eleven year chelsea career.

Jose Mourinho is hoping to keep hold of his back-up ‘keeper but it appears the decision will be down to owner Roman Abramovich.

Cech still has one season to run on his current contract and if he stays with Chelsea he will more than likely move on for free. If the Premier League champions cash in on the 32-year-old shot stopper it is estimated his services would fetch around £10 million.

Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Besiktas are all reportedly interested in the Czech Republic number one and Mourinho will hope his star will opt for a move away from one of the clubs rivals.

Will Cech leave Chelsea? Will he be allowed to move to one of their rivals?

West Ham dealt blow as AC Milan join chase for midfielder – report

West Ham loanee Alex Song has been linked with a summer move to AC Milan as they look to replace Nigel De Jong, who is expected to leave the Italian club in the summer.

Song, currently on loan from FC Barcelona, is with the Hammers for the season and the Premier League side are keen on making his move permanent.

However, AC Milan and Inter Milan are also interested in the Cameroon international, with Inter looking to Song as a potential backup option, should their pursuit of Yaya Toure fall short.

Song is favourite to join AC Milan in the summer, according to the Daily Mail, as De Jong looks set to leave on a free after rejecting a new contract and is wanted by Manchester United.

Song, who joined Barcelona in the summer of 2012 for a reported fee of £15 million, has played 27 times for West Ham in the Premier League this season and has been a great asset to the side this campaign.

West Ham’s recent form has seen them drop out of the race for European football but they can still see their season as successful and signing Song on a permanent basis would also be huge for the East London club.

Should West Ham look to tie down Alex Song on a permanent basis? Would AC Milan be a better move for the former Arsenal man?

City star to take £2m pay cut to force through move to Inter Milan – report

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure looks to have all but sealed a move to Inter Milan to be reunited with former boss Roberto Mancini this summer.

The latest reports suggest that Toure is willing to take a significant pay cut to ensure the move goes through as his time in the Premier League with City is drawing to a close.

Corriere dello Sport suggest that the 32-year-old Ivorian has agreed a £3.5million-a-year salary on a four-year deal that will run until 2019 – a deal that will see him earn much less than the estimated £5.75 million-a-year he is currently on at City.

However, a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs. It has been suggested that City value Toure at around £10 million and the deal relies on Inter meeting that figure at the very least.

Having been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester in recent months is seems inevitable that Toure will move after seeing a dramatic drop in form this season, while City’s failure to retain the title will have played a part in any decision.

All that being said, Toure has been part of the core of the Manchester City squad since his arrival in the summer of 2010, and having won two Premier League winner’s medals, he will leave as a hero with the club.

City have been linked with a huge move for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba as a possible replacement for Toure, and many feel the Frenchman is one of very few who could emulate the powerful Ivory Coast international’s performances.

Would Inter Milan be a good move for Yaya Toure? Who should Manchester City look to replace him with?

Liverpool and Arsenal receive transfer blow as £10m target in talks with Besiktas

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech could be on the way to Turkey as Besiktas have become the latest club to be linked with his signature after his agent confirmed talks have taken place.

That will come as bad news to Arsenal and Liverpool fans as the Premier League rivals have both been linked with a £10 million move for the Czech Republic shot-stopper this summer.

Cech is set to leave Chelsea after 11 successful years as he is not willing to play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois again next term.

He has been strongly linked with moves to Inter Milan, Paris Saint Germain, Liverpool and Arsenal but Jose Mourinho is not keen to sell him to direct Premier League rivals.

That could see Besiktas secure his signature as Cech’s agent, Viktor Kolar has confirmed the Blues star has received an offer from the Turkish side.

“We have been in contact with Besiktas, we are in talks. Turkey is a choice for Cech but we will decide when the league is over,” Kolar told Turkish website Fanatik.

Chelsea are expected to make a £2million move for relegated Queens Park Rangers ‘keeper Rob Green as they look to fill their English quota, though Green will have to accept a backup role if any move goes through.

Would Besiktas be a good move for Petr Cech? Should Chelsea sign Rob Green as backup to Courtois?

Chelsea lodge £22m bid for South American goalscoring ace – report

Chelsea are looking to bolster their attack this summer after winning their first Premier League title for five years and a £22.2 million bid for Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi has been lodged, according to Sportmediaset.

Icardi has scored an impressive 23 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season and although the club were keen to tie him down to a new deal, it seems the striker is now having second thoughts.

The 22-year-old has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool as well as Chelsea as a move to the Premier League looks to be a growing possibility.

And the latest reports out of Italy suggest that Chelsea have submitted a £22.2 million bid in the hope of winning the race for the Argentina star.

Didier Drogba does not look likely to sign a new contract with Chelsea, leaving just Loic Remy and Diego Costa as forward options, so Jose Mourinho will be desperate to bring in another quality forward this summer.

The Blues have wrapped up their first Premier League title since 2010 but Mourinho knows he must strengthen to keep Chelsea at the top of the table next season.

Inter Milan set sights on HUGE move for Manchester City trio

Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is preparing a raid on his former club for Manchester City trio Yaya Toure, James Milner and Samir Nasri, according to the Daily Mail.

Mancini is planning to reshape his Inter side by signing the three midfielders he brought to City during his spell at the Premier League club.

James Milner is out of contract in the summer and has attracted interest from a number of clubs after a solid season and could favour a reunion with his former coach in Italy.

Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri have not enjoyed the best of seasons and have failed to make their usual impact for the reigning champions.

Inter could hit a snag in their pursuit of Toure due to his high wages at a reported £200,000-a-week. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Ivorian and a move to the mega rich French club could be a more likely destination, given their extra financial power.

A move for Samir Nasri is also a possibility for PSG but Mancini will hope his connections with the player can lure him to Inter.

City’s squad has come under fire due to their below-par performances since the turn of the year and there could be major changes at the club over the summer as they are looking to get back on track.

If Mancini is to land all three of his former stars it would go some way to rebuilding his Inter squad who have struggled this season and are sitting 9th in Serie A.

Should Manchester City allow Yaya Toure, James Milner and Samir Nasri leave the club this summer?

Manchester United looking to beat Chelsea in race for £30m Inter star

Manchester United have joined a host of Premier League clubs in the race for Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi, according to Fichajes.

The 22-year-old Argentine striker looks likely to leave Inter this summer after turning down a £2 million-a-year offer from the Serie A club.

Jose Mourinho is known to be an admirer of Icardi and he has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but United could look to swoop as Louis Van Gaal looks to rebuild his attack this summer.

Radamel Falcao is unlikely to be signed on a permanent basis after failing to live up to expectations in his loan spell from AS Monaco this season, while Robin Van Persie could also be off.

That will mean the Red Devils need to bring in strikers, and Icardi could be an exciting addition if United can meet Inter’s valuation of £30 million and beat Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City to his services.

Icardi wants a £2.2 million-a-year contract at Inter, a total that equals around £40,000 per week, so a move to Old Trafford looks more than possible if the player fails to reach an agreement with his current club.

Icardi has netted 15 goals with four assists in 27 Serie A appearances this season could join up with fellow Argentina internationals Marcos Rojo and Angel Di Maria with a move to United.
