Spurs legend heaps praise on ‘international footballer’ Harry Kane

It took the impressive young talent of Harry Kane just 80 seconds to score his first senior England goal with just his third touch on the international stage.

Spurs legend, Glenn Hoddle, who was a pundit for tonight’s game on ITV says Kane has everything required to be an international star.

“I put my head on a block here, I think he is going to be an international footballer, he’s got every attribute we need up there.”

Kane played around 30 minutes in England’s 4-0 win over Lithuania at Wembley and he took his chance with both hands after a fine season with Tottenham in the Premier League.

England have won all five of their qualifiers now and are in a strong position to kick on and win the group ahead of the 2016 European Championship finals in France next year.

Kane’s rise to the highest level has taken a little time but he has continued to improve with each game and it looks like the only way is up for the Spurs hero.

Hoddle has been impressed with Kane’s progression and heaped further praise on the 21 year old.

“I think what we have got to look at is how he adapted to the Premier League from the jump of Under 21’s and how he looks so comfortable instantly and is scoring goals.”

Spurs teammate claims Harry Kane is set to be ‘an international star’

Tottenham sensation Harry Kane has earned his first England call-up after a scintillating season and Nacer Chadli thinks he’s got everything he needs to be a star on the international stage now.

Kane has scored 29 goals in all competitions for Spurs this season and is currently the Premier League‘s top goalscorer with 19. He has certainly earned his chance to impress with the England team and Chadli thinks he can carry his form over with ease.

“He’s a very quiet and nice guy – a good guy for the group, and I think he would be very easily accepted by the other [England] players,” the winger said speaking ahead of Belgium’s European Qualifier against Cyprus on Saturday.

“He’s a great player and I think the others will understand that. He definitely has what it takes to be an international star. He has the quality and the mentality to play at this level. He’s a very good player and is very talented.”

Chadli has eight league goals himself for Spurs this season and has been much more effective than he was in his first year with the club.

He has built up a good partnership with Kane over the course of the campaign and the two will hope they can help Spurs force their way into the top four when they return from international duty.

Tottenham are currently six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with eight games to play and take on Burnley at Turf Moor in their next league game.

Former England goal-machine claims Harry Kane must start

Harry Kane‘s call up to the England National Team has been well received and former England striker Alan Shearer claims Roy Hodgson has to start the young star in the upcoming fixtures.

The 21-year-old Tottenham forward netted a hat-trick in this weekend’s 4-3 Premier League win against Leicester City and he is oozing confidence after his first call-up to the national side.

Shearer scored 30 goals in 63 international appearances for the Three Lions and he had plenty of positives for the in-form Kane when speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day.

“I think Roy Hodgson should start him for England,” Shearer said. “He knows what he’s about and, in the form that he’s in, he’ll score goals and be a great foil for Wayne Rooney.”

Kane, who has 29 goals in all competitions this season, will be itching to impress on the international stage and Shearer believes his variation of goals is key.

“He didn’t start playing regular Premier League football until November but he’s the top scorer in the league with 19. He scores all sorts of goals – a tap-in, a penalty and a deflection against Leicester. I’m a huge fan of his.”

Will Harry Kane end the season as the Premier League’s top scorer?

Much has been made of the brilliant form of Harry Kane this season and Lewis Addley explores whether he can win the Premier League golden boot this year…

Having already notched 23 goals in all competitions for Tottenham so far this season there seems to be no end to Harry Kane‘s goalscoring habit.

As we know, he isn’t just finding the net against smaller teams but banging them in past the big sides in the Premier League too and has bagged a brace against both Chelsea and Arsenal already this season.

He is only four goals behind top scorer Diego Costa (17) in the league on 13 goals and he still has plenty of games ahead to make up the difference and overtake whoever is in front of him.

Kane has bagged five in his last three including the crucial winner in the North London derby and with Tottenham Hotspur taking on West Ham United this Sunday lunchtime you wouldn’t bet against him finding the net again.

Spurs have a high volume of games as they balance domestic commitments alongside European games in the UEFA Europa League and although fitness is always a factor, Kane has the hunger to play every game and the desire to score goals seems to give him that boost in each appearance.

His two goals in the dramatic 5-3 win over Chelsea on New Years Day were pivotal to proving to any remaining doubters that he really does mean business and has what it takes to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

With 13 league games remaining Kane has plenty of time to add to his tally and with his confidence sky-high there is little doubt that he will continue to do so. Pulling rank to take penalties gives Kane even more opportunity for goals and he appears to be unstoppable at this moment in time.

Kane has a wide variety of dimensions to his game, as we have seen this season, and that gives the 21-year-old forward that edge over many other goalscorers in the league. Whether it be strikes from range long or quick thinking in the box he is scoring all types of goals.

Kane’s confident approach to games and his professional attitude certainly gives him a good chance of winning the Golden Boot come the end of the campaign.
