Match Odds: Leicester 19/10 – Draw 12/5 – Chelsea 11/8

Match Preview

High-flying Leicester host struggling Chelsea in this week’s Monday night game in the Premier League in a game between two sides that seem to have swapped league positions.

This is not a parallel universe. Chelsea sit in 14th place coming into this game, with Leicester sitting at the top of the table after 15 games.

The Foxes have exceeded all expectations so far and they are now unbeaten in eight league games, having only lost the one match this term.

Chelsea are enduring quite the opposite campaign as they have suffered defeat in eight games already – more total league losses than in any of the last three seasons.

The Blues fell 1-0 at home to Bournemouth last weekend and they have not won away in their last five. Things don’t look so good for Jose Mourinho’s men and another loss here would really put any remaining Champions League hopes in jeopardy.

Leicester have scored more league goals than anyone else this season and will face a Chelsea side with the third-worst defensive record in the top flight. Yet somehow Leicester are still the underdogs as far as the betting for the match goes.

This will be the 19th Premier League clash between the two sides. Chelsea have sealed victory in each of the last six league meetings.

In fact, the last time Chelsea lost to the Foxes, Claudio Ranieri was in charge of the Blues. The Italian coach is now working wonders with Leicester and will hope to inflict further damage on his former club’s dismal season.

Team News

Leicester’s will be without Ritchie De Laet and Matt James as the pair remain Claudio Ranieri’s only absentees. Leonardo Ulloa will hope to start alongside Jamie Vardy in attack once again.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has just one player out of this one as Radamel Falcao is unlikely to even make the trip to Leicester. Cesc Fabregas will expect to come back into the side after being dropped against Porto midweek, while Kurt Zouma may get the nod at centre-back.

Key Points

Leicester’s last five: W/W/W/D/W

Chelsea’s last five: L/L/W/D/L

Key Stat: Chelsea have won their last eight games against Leicester in all competitions and haven’t lost to the Foxes since 2001 – a game in which Ranieri was Chelsea manager.

Key Player: Jamie Vardy – His 11-game scoring run might have ended at Swansea last time out but Vardy has still scored six in his last five home league games and will look to hurt Chelsea here.

Score Prediction

Leicester 2-1 Chelsea – Leicester have scored in every Premier League game this season and shouldn’t have too much trouble finding the net against a leaky Chelsea defence here. The Blues have lost four of their last six league games and it’s hard to see them sealing three points in this one. Another excellent Leicester win could be on the cards.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Leicester vs Chelsea

Competition: Premier League – Leicester City vs. Chelsea FC

Venue: King Power Stadium – Wednesday April 29th – 19:45 BST (14:45 ET)

Match Odds: Leicester 4/1 – Draw 13/5 – Chelsea 7/10

Match Preview

Leicester host Chelsea in a crucial Premier League clash for sides at either end of the table on Wednesday night.

Leicester have turned their fortunes around in remarkable style after winning four on the bounce and now find themselves outside the relegation zone for the first time since November.

Saturday’s 1-0 win at Burnley was a huge result for the Foxes and Nigel Pearson will be desperately hoping they can stun Chelsea with a win in their game in hand on Wednesday night.

The Blues have led the Premier League from start to finish and their 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Sunday means they need just six points from their final five games to ensure they are named champions for the first time in five years.

Jose Mourinho’s side have been excellent over the course of the season and beat Leicester 2-0 in their first home game of the season back in August.

Chelsea have only lost twice all season, both of those being on the road, and that will give Leicester fans a glimmer of hope going into this one.

The Foxes know a win can move them four points clear of the drop zone with four to play, while the visitors will be looking for victory so that they can win the Premier League in front of their own fans on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

Chelsea have won the last seven meetings between the two sides over the course of the past 14 years and will be heavy favourites to end the Foxes’ four-game win streak on Wednesday.

Team News

Leicester could be without David Nugent and Jeffrey Schlupp for the visit of the Blues as both are doubts for the clash. Nigel Pearson is likely to name an unchanged side from the team that won at Burnley on Saturday, with Jamie Vardy and Leonardo Ulloa expected to partner each other in attack.

Chelsea have doubts hanging over five players ahead of this one with striking trio Didier Drogba, Loic Remy and Diego Costa still struggling with knocks. Drogba came on against Arsenal on Sunday and will be pushing for a start if he is fit enough. Oscar is also a doubt after going to hospital following a collision with David Ospina at the weekend, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is also struggling with a knock and so Petr Cech could get the nod between the sticks.

Key Points

Leicester’s last five: L/W/W/W/W

Chelsea’s last five: W/W/W/W/D

Key Stat: There have been 30 goals in the last seven meetings between these two, with Chelsea winning all of those games – an average of 4.3 goals per game.

Key Player: Eden Hazard – The Chelsea winger has been exceptional this season and picked up the PFA Player of the Year award on Sunday night. He has three goals and two assists in his last five Premier League games and also scored in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

Score Prediction

Leicester 1-2 Chelsea – The Blues have kept three clean sheets on the bounce and have been labelled “boring” for their defensive approach but Leicester have been scoring goals for fun and will expect to get at least one. Though Chelsea look too strong and will take another stride towards the title with a win on Wednesday night.
