Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is at the peak of his powers and is the frontrunner for this season’s Premier League Player of the Season award. He has taken the league by storm but it turns out he has eyes for MLS and a move to America in the future.
The 26-year-old Belgian midfielder loves the culture of American life and is seemingly planning to make the move to Major League Soccer once his time with Manchester City comes to an end.
He has only recently signed a huge contract extension with City that ties him down until 2023, so don’t expect a move anytime soon. But his agent, Patrik De Koster, has revealed that De Bruyne has already spoken about a potential MLS move.
“I think Kevin will end his career in the USA rather than in Belgium,” De Koster said. “He has already been to America many times on holiday, and he loves the country and its culture. We have often spoken about him ending his career in the MLS.”
“He hasn’t yet had any offers from American clubs, because they know it is not worth bothering as he is at the peak of his career. Clubs in China will probably look longingly at him, but I can’t see him going over to play there.”
De Bruyne has been in incredible form for Man City this season, picking up 14 assists. The Citizens look certain to seal a first Premier League title since 2013/14, with De Bruyne heavily tipped to be named as the league’s Player of the Season.
If he were to move to MLS in the future, it’s likely that New York City FC would be frontrunners for his signature, given their ties with Manchester City. Although the league is growing at an alarming rate and so there will be no shortage of options for a player of De Bruyne’s talent, if and when the day arrives that he is looking for an MLS move.
Do you think Kevin De Bruyne will end his career in MLS? Which club do you think he’d join?
The 23-year-old Frenchman, who is also known as ‘Kolo’, only joined Sevilla last summer from Ligue 1 side Nice but could be on the move again, with a whole host of top clubs looking at swooping for the £7 million-rated star.
Chelsea and Manchester City have both been linked as they look to strengthen at left-back this summer, though Kolodziejczak can also operate in the centre of defence, making him even more appealing.
Jose Mourinho could let Filipe Luis depart after just one year as Cesar Azpilicueta is the first-choice left-back at Stamford Bridge, so a backup could be needed.
The Arsenal boss revealed that he was not interested in Manchester City’s interest in Wilshere last month, claiming the Gunners did not have to sell their best players, but the Citizens have not listened and are looking to press ahead in their advances for the England international.
City are expected for a major summer shake up following a poor season, and Wilshere is believed to be near the very top of their transfer list.
Jordan Henderson was also a target but he has ended speculation of a move away from Liverpool by signing a new contract last week.
That means the reigning Premier League champions are willing to offer Arsenal £30 million in an attempt to land Wilshere.
The Gunners have sold top talents such as Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna all to City in recent years, acquiring around £70 million in those deals but Wenger is not keen on taking that total to £100 million.
Wilshere has just returned to the squad following his latest injury setback, but his place in the team is no longer guaranteed, especially given Francis Coquelin’s rise to prominence this year, and a move away could be on the cards.
Arsenal are keen to discuss a new contract with the 23-year-old midfielder, despite the fact he has three years left on his current deal, and the club appear desperate to retain the services of their academy product.
The 24-year-old German has just one year remaining on his current Dortmund contract and is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League, with three of the countries top sides interested in securing his services.
Gundogan is valued at £20 million, and City believe they can steal a march on their rivals by offering misfiring striker Edin Dzeko to Dortmund in a swap deal.
New Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel, who will take over from the outgoing Jurgen Klopp this summer, is an admirer of Dzeko’s and that could see Gundogan seal a move to City.
Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko put in another poor performance in Monday night’s 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace as his exit from the club looks to be edging ever closer.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men were simply not clinical enough at Selhurst Park and that defeat leaves them nine points behind leaders Chelsea, who also have a game in hand.
Their chances of retaining their Premier League title are all but gone, and so is Bosnian striker Dzeko, after his terrible display on Monday night has left many fans calling for his departure this summer amidst interest from Serie A.
Dzeko has only scored four Premier League goals in 21 appearances this season and has not put in the performances to support his £27 million price tag that the club paid to sign him from Wolfsburg in 2011.
Monday night’s showing at Palace was one of his worst in a City shirt as he was hauled off after 65 minutes without even attempting a shot.

The 29-year-old forward failed to register a shot on goal, complete a dribble with the ball and could only complete 14 of his 27 passes.
Dzeko was dispossessed five times as well in what was a disappointing display. The Citizens actually improved when he was taken off and got the goal just 12 minutes after he was replaced by Frank Lampard.
City fans will be hoping to sell their striker this summer and despite the fact that he signed a new four-year deal last summer, AS Roma are reportedly keen on his services.
City could use the money from his sale to rebuild their side ahead of next season and one fan has even offered to pay for Dzeko’s flights out of England.
Toure is yet to sign a new deal with Man City and it is looking increasingly more likely that he could move on this summer, with Mancini interested in acquiring the services of his former player once again.
Mancini has claimed that Inter will be dipping into the transfer market this summer in order to strengthen the squad.
“Some change will happen next year. We have a chance to take a top player because we are Inter, a top team and we have to fight for the title.”
Yaya Toure’s contract doesn’t expire until 2017, so he won’t come cheaply but Mancini wants a world-class star to help the Nerazzurri take a step towards regaining their European status and bringing success back to the club.
Toure played a pivotal role in helping Mancini bring success to Manchester City and still possesses the same qualities to do so if he were to join Inter.
Having made 22 appearances so far this campaign, Toure has been missed for City who are off the pace in the Premier League title race, but he has still netted seven goals and his current boss Manuel Pellegrini will not want to let the star go.
Will Yaya Toure leave Manchester City this summer?
