Premier League Preview and Prediction: Manchester City vs QPR

Competition: Premier League – Manchester City vs. Queens Park Rangers

Venue: Etihad Stadium – Sunday, May 10th – 13:00 BST (08:30 ET)

Match Odds: Man City 2/9 – Draw 11/2 – QPR 10/1

Match Preview

Manchester City host QPR in the Sunday afternoon kickoff in a game that could be a make or break clash for the West London club as they are currently seven points off safety and will be relegated from the Premier League if they lose.

With Manchester City seemingly left with nothing to play for but Champions League security, it looks there will be a summer of change at last year’s champions.

City have the benefit of playing at home as they have won their last five at the Etihad and are strong favourites to make it six as they have the best attack in the league, with 71 goals scored this term.

Manchester City’s home record: P17 – W12 – D3 – L2

QPR have looked certain for the drop for much of the season, and boss Chris Ramsey’s efforts look all but lost as he has battled to keep a weak QPR side in the top flight for several weeks.

With the worst defense in the league, QPR have leaked an incredible 61 goals this term, and could be in trouble at City this weekend.

A long season for QPR could all be over come the end of the weekend, as they need three wins to even have a hope of staying up.

QPR’s away record: P17 – W2 – D1 – L14

Team News

Manchester City: Steven Jovetic, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure are all out. Samir Nasri and Jesus Navas are both doubts and aren’t expected to start. Fernando, Fernandinho and Frank Lampard are expected to make the midfield trio.

QPR: Alejandro Faurlin, Eduardo Vargas and Mauro Zarate are all out, Nedum Onuoha is suspended and Steven Caulker and Armand Traore are doubts. Charlie Austin and Bobby Zamora are expected to start up front.

Key Points

Manchester City’s last five: LLWWW

QPR’s last five: W/D/L/D/L

Score Prediction

Manchester City 3-1 QPR – The Citizens look far too strong for QPR and should win the game with relative ease to spell the end of the R’s survival chances as they prepare for next year in the Championship.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Crystal Palace vs Manchester City

Competition: Premier League – Crystal Palace vs. Manchester City

Venue: Selhurst Park – Monday, April 6th – 20:00 BST (15:00 EDT)

Match Odds: Crystal Palace 4/1 – Draw 14/5 – Man City 4/6

Match Preview

Crystal Palace will host title chasing Manchester City in this week’s Premier League Monday night fixture in a game that should live up to its billing.

Palace go into the game after back-to-back wins against QPR and Stoke in recent weeks, and so they will be confident of grabbing a result against the reigning champions.

They have had issues at home recently however, only winning one of their last five at Selhurst Park in all competitions.

Since Alan Pardew took over at Palace they have looked a more threatening side and an upset is not out of the question. The Eagles have picked up more points than City in 2015, adding further credit to the fine job Pardew is doing in South London.

Crystal Palace’s home record in the Premier League: P14 – W4 – D3 – L7

Manchester City desperately need a win in this one as they look to prolong the title race for at least another week. Chelsea could be a staggering nine points clear by the time City kick off on Monday night, with a game in hand.

City won the reverse fixture 3-0 at the Etihad in December. But you have to say Palace look a much better team than the one that took to the field on that occasion. The home crowd will look to play a part and City have lost their last two on the road so this is perfectly poised.

Manchester City’s away record in the Premier League: P15 – W8 – D4 – L3

It has been a disappointing season for the champions, and a loss on Monday night would all but guarantee Chelsea the title.

But then again, if City play like they are capable of, this could be very one-sided and Manuel Pellegrini will be desperate to see a positive performance from his players.

Team News

Crystal Palace will be without Jerome Thomas, Frazier Campbell and Marouane Chamakh, who are all sidelined through injury. Mile Jedinak is suspended, while Joe Ledley and Jordan Mutch are both doubts but should make the squad.

Manchester City face concerns over Yaya Toure and James Milner, who are both doubts but should be available for selection. Toure should start alongside Fernando in midfielder, while Wilfried Bony is expected to continue to partner Sergio Aguero up front.

Key Points

Crystal Palace’s last five: L/W/L/W/W

Manchester City’s last five: W/L/W/L/W

Key Stat: Crystal Palace haven’t beaten Manchester City at home in the Premier League since April 1995 and will be looking to end a 20-year wait on Monday night.

Key Player: David Silva – The Spaniard is always at the heart of everything City do going forward and makes them tick. Expect him to be influential in the final third.

Score Prediction

Crystal Palace 1-2 Manchester City – City cannot afford to drop points here as they continue to fight for the title. They should edge it, taking their run of victories over Palace to eight in a row in all competitions.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Burnley vs Manchester City

Competition: Premier League – Burnley vs Manchester City

Venue: Turf Moor – Saturday, March 14 – 17:30 GMT (13:30 ET)

Match Odds: Burnley 6/1 – Draw 15/4 – Manchester City 2/5

Match Preview

Burnley entertain champions Manchester City at Turf Moor in this weekend’s evening fixture on Saturday night as the Clarets’ battle against relegation continues with another real tough game.

Sean Dyche’s men are currently sitting 19th in the table on 22 points, and are going to need to pick up points fast if they are to survive the drop.

Manchester City are chasing Premier League leaders Chelsea. They are five points behind and have played a game more. They will more than likely need to win every game in the run in if they are to stand any chance of retaining their title.

The reverse fixture saw late drama as Ashley Barnes stole a share of the points at the Etihad in a thrilling 2-2 draw back in December.

Burnley have proved this season they have what it takes to upset the big teams and will need to adopt that mentality once again as Manchester City will be expecting to come away with all three points.

There are no easy games in the Premier League and Burnley need to make their home advantage pay off as they will look to frustrate Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Burnley come into the tie on a seven-game winless streak and they face no tougher challenge than this in an attempt to put that run to bed.

Man City have three wins in their last five but have missed their chance to close the gap on Chelsea and will be aware they cannot afford anymore slip-ups.

Embed from Getty Images

Burnley are at a difficult point of the season and things will only get harder in the run in if they are to continue their winless run, but just 12 points separate the bottom eight so nothing is settled yet.

Manchester City do not only need points to continue their title chase but also need them to fend off the sides below them in the table, as they are just four points ahead of third placed Arsenal.

With so much at stake here we could be in for a really entertaining tie between the Clarets and the Citizens.

Team News

Burnley are set to be without three faces, Dean Marney and Kevin Long (both knee) and Matt Taylor (calf). Danny Ings is a doubt but should be fit to play and the pressure is on him to score the goals to help Burnley avoid the drop. He will want to continue to impress as he has done so far this season.

Embed from Getty Images

Manchester City are one of only two Premier League sides to have a fully fit squad at this stage of the season. Pellegrini has talent in abundance to switch his side around. We could see James Milner rewarded with a start, having come off the bench to score against Leicester City late on in their last fixture.

Key Points

Burnley’s last five in the Premier League: D/L/D/L/L

Manchester City’s last five in the Premier League: D/W/W/L/W

Key Stat: Goals – The two sides have scored 17 goals in their last three meetings and with Sergio Aguero in fine form we could see yet another goal-fest at Turf Moor.

Embed from Getty Images

Key Player: Sergio Aguero – City have certainly missed the Argentine when he has been absent this season and they have his goals to thank for still being within a chance of still winning the title. He will look to make the difference one again on Saturday.

Score Prediction

Burnley 1-3 Manchester City – Pellegrini will not want a repeat of the draw earlier in the season and his players will be looking to kill this game early. Burnley have scored goals against big sides this campaign but they are in for a difficult evening in front of their own fans and City’s quality will shine through.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Chelsea vs Manchester City

Competition: Premier League

Venue: Stamford Bridge – Saturday, January 31 – 17:30

Match Odds: Chelsea 21/20 – Draw 12/5 – Manchester City 13/5

The Premier League resumes after last weekends FA Cup fourth round, a weekend the top two will want to forget. This is the biggest fixture of the season so far for Chelsea and Manchester City and it could be pivotal in the race for the title.

Five points separate the sides going into the game and Chelsea could once again open up that vital eight point lead at the top of the table with a victory in front of their own fans.

We can expect a fiery and cagey tie as neither side will want to lose the upper hand.

Chelsea’s home record in the Premier League: Played 10 – Won 10 – Drawn 0 – Lost 0

Chelsea retain their fortress status in the Premier League at home this season and have that form to thank for still being at the head of the table. But last weekend showed they are capable of throwing games away at Stamford Bridge as they lost 4-2 to Bradford City, despite taking a two goal lead.

The Blues could once again be without top scorer Diego Costa as he is facing a ban after being charged for stamping on Emre Can in their midweek League Cup tie against Liverpool. They will definitely miss him if he cannot play.

Manuel Pellegrini will have his men prepared to the maximum for this tie and they need to bounce back after their shock 2-0 home defeat to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.

We recall the drama of the return fixture where Chelsea legend Frank Lampard came off the bench to grab a share of the spoils for City in that 1-1 draw.

Manchester City’s away record in the Premier League: Played 11 – Won 7 – Drawn 3 – Lost 1

City’s away record hasn’t been too bad but they will have to win almost every game from now till the end of the season to maintain that pressure in the hope of Chelsea slip-ups as this is the last meeting between the sides and the pressure is on City in that sense.

Embed from Getty Images

They will be without Yaya Toure and new-boy Wilfried Bony who are both still on international duty with the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations.

A 2-0 loss at home to Arsenal in the last league game was not good enough from City and they must prove why they are the reigning champions against Chelsea on Saturday night if they are to stand a chance of retaining their title.

Chelsea’s last five in the Premier League: W/D/L/W/W

Manchester City’s last five in the Premier League: W/D/W/D/L

Key Stat: Chelsea have not conceded a league goal at Stamford Bridge for five games in a spell that spans back to early November.

Key Player: Thibaut Courtois – the Chelsea keeper must be at his best as City will be looking for a smash and grab victory.

Chelsea vs. Man City Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Manchester City – the game is the most important of the season and City will have to throw everything at it to win, which they are more than capable of doing.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Manchester City vs Arsenal

Manchester City entertain Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday as they look to keep the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Manuel Pellegrini will be frustrated from last weekend’s dropped points away at Everton when they seemingly had the game wrapped up.

City will be without the influential Yaya Toure who’s away on international duty at the African Cup of Nations, as is new signing Wilfred Bony.

Arsene Wenger needs a strong performance from his side, who need to keep pace with those chasing the Champions League places.

Manchester City’s home record: Played 10 – Won 7 – Drawn 2 – Lost 1

City haven’t been as consistent as we know they can be on home turf this season, and they need to take the approach that Mourinho’s Chelsea have with winning all their home Premier League games this campaign, as that is the difference between the two sides.

Arsenal will be looking for inspiration from goal machine Alexis Sanchez, who punished some weak defending on City’s behalf in the return fixture.

Embed from Getty Images

Arsenal’s away record: Played 10 – Won 4 – Drawn 3 – Lost 3

The Gunners have struggled on the road this season and this weekend’s game will be no easier for them, and they must avoid defeat at all costs as they are only one point outside the top four.

City will know what they have to do in terms of either taking the initiative to go top of the Premier League or keep pace with Chelsea, who play on Saturday away at Swansea, so the pressure is on.

We can expect a really intriguing tie with both sides conceding and scoring freely.

Manchester City’s last five: W/W/D/W/D

Arsenal’s last five: D/W/W/L/W

Key stat: Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League games (9 wins, 3 draws).

Key player: Alexis Sanchez – Where would Arsenal be without him? His goals and assists have played a large part this season and he will be crucial again at the weekend.

Score Prediction: Manchester City 2 – 1 Arsenal

MLSGB Premier League Predictions – Gameweek 21

After a break for the FA Cup third round, the Premier League returns this weekend and that means a member of the MLSGB team has to step up and try and predict the outcomes of all ten games.

Louis East called seven correct results with one correct score in the last edition and this week Lewis Addley will try and call some tricky matchups in what should be another entertaining weekend.

Here’s this weeks Premier League predictions:

Saturday 10 January 2015 (All kick-offs are 15:00 GMT unless otherwise stated)

Sunderland vs Liverpool (12:45)

The reverse fixture saw this game end level 0-0 at Anfield, a disappointing result as Liverpool will still believe they are fighting for a Champions League spot. The Stadium of Light has been a tough place to visit this season with Sunderland already taking points from league leaders Chelsea. We can expect a cagey affair with Sunderland looking to cause an upset again.

Prediction: 1-1

__________________________________________________________________________________

Burnley vs Queens Park Rangers

Both of these sides look set for the battle to avoid relegation until the end of the season now and it’s a real six pointer. Burnley have found some form of late and can take heart from battling back from 2-0 down away at Manchester City. QPR have been hit with a flooded training ground this week and that has dampened their preparations no end. QPR have lost every away game this season so far in the league, so we can expect much of the same.

Prediction: 2-1

__________________________________________________________________________________

Chelsea vs Newcastle United

Embed from Getty Images

Mourinho needs a response from his players and fast after some poor form over the last few weeks. Having already lost the away fixture last month they will need to win this to ensure they remain top of the table. Home form has been solid from Mourinho’s men and it should be three points.

Prediction: 3-1

__________________________________________________________________________________

Everton vs Manchester City

Everton haven’t lived up to their expectations this season and City will be looking to kill this game early. The champions have continued to close the gap on Chelsea and will be smelling blood and looking to top the table for the first time this season. Roberto Martinez needs a reaction from his side and they must prove they have what it takes to challenge the top teams once again.

Prediction: 1-2

__________________________________________________________________________________

Leicester City vs Aston Villa

Both these sides have been inconsistent so far this campaign which could leave us with an entertaining tie. Leicester are unbeaten in their last couple of league games and have avoided defeat picked up four points in their last two games. They have to be favourites.

Prediction: 2-1

__________________________________________________________________________________

Swansea vs West Ham United

Embed from Getty Images

Swansea will be without goal machine Wilfried Bony, away at the African Cup of Nations, who could have played his last game for the side amidst reports of Manchester City chasing his signature. The Swans are happily sitting ninth in the league and will be keen to push for all three points. West Ham have had a bit of a step back to reality in the past couple of weeks as their top four push has been halted. This should be a feisty affair.

Prediction: 3-2

__________________________________________________________________________________

West Bromwich Albion vs Hull City

Just a point separates these two sides who both look set for a nervy period towards the back end of the season. Having reached the halfway mark neither side looks safe and it is surely another six pointer. Hull will need another performance like the one that saw them win 2-0 against Everton last time out while Albion need to take their goalscoring form of the cup into the game after firing seven past minnows Gateshead last weekend. Tony Pulis to get off to a fine start in the league.

Prediction: 2-1

__________________________________________________________________________________

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur (17:30)

Embed from Getty Images

Spurs head into this game on cloud nine after their brilliant performance over Chelsea. Palace, who fear nobody at Selhurst Park, need to be at their best and must stop striking sensation Harry Kane. One thing we know for sure is he will be at the forefront as usual if Spurs are to take all three points in Alan Pardew’s first league outing as Palace boss.

Prediction: 1-3

__________________________________________________________________________________

Sunday 11 January 2015

Arsenal vs Stoke City (13:30)

Arsene Wenger’s men need to take all three points from this tie to ensure they keep the pace in the race for the top four. They will need to keep it tight at the back compared to their dreadful start in the reverse fixture where they conceded after just one minute. They should gain revenge from that game here though.

Prediction: 2-0

__________________________________________________________________________________

Manchester United vs Southampton (16:00)

Embed from Getty Images

This could be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. We can expect an attacking mentality from both sides. Southampton can consider themselves unlucky in the reverse fixture whereby they were killed off by some clinical finishing. Louis Van Gaal’s impact has been good so far at United and although he will be wary of the Saints, he will be expecting nothing less than three points from his side.

Prediction: 3-1
