Venue: Toyota Stadium – Friday, May 15th – 21:00 ET (02:00 BST)

Match Odds: FC Dallas 5/4 – Draw 12/5 – New York Red Bulls 21/10

Match Preview

FC Dallas host New York Red Bulls on Friday evening at Toyota Stadium in what could be the game of the weekend.

Dallas have lost just twice this season and are level on points with Vancouver Whitecaps at the top of the Western Conference, but do have a game in hand.

Oscar Pareja’s side have won back-to-back games after their 2-1 win against LA Galaxy last weekend and will be hoping for much of the same this time out against a tough Red Bulls side.

FCD have lost their last two against the Red Bulls and this is a huge game for both sides. Whoever can come out on top will be filled with confidence going forward as both are expected to make a real charge in the playoffs this season.

New York Red Bulls have lost just one game this season and are sitting third in the Eastern Conference. Jesse Marsch’s side came out on top in the New York derby last weekend and ended a three game streak without a win against NYCFC.

Bradley Wright-Phillips grabbed himself both of his side’s goals in the derby and now has five for the season. He has started the season well but has to keep banging in the goals to show he can be the Red Bulls main man.

Wright-Phillips’ partnership with Lloyd Sam is going from strength to strength with each passing game and they will be looking to cause the Dallas defence all sorts of problems on Friday.

While Dallas will look to Fabian Castillo to continue his fine campaign. The Colombian winger has four goals and five assists so far and has been mighty impressive.

Team News

FC Dallas have four injury concerns ahead of the game as Coy Craft, Stephen Keel, Zach Loyd and Matt Hedges all look set to be sidelined for this one. Other than that Pareja has no suspensions to worry about and could possibly opt for the same lineup that impressed against LA Galaxy last weekend.

New York Red Bulls are without Sal Zizzo for a few months as he recovers from a broken leg. Ronald Zubar’s fitness continues to be a concern and he could well sit this one out. Marsch will also be missing Matt Miazga, who is ruled out through suspension and has travelled to the U20 World Cup.

Key Points

FC Dallas’ last five: L/W/D/W/W

New York Red Bulls last five: W/D/D/L/W

Key Stat: Away – This is Dallas’ last home game before five consecutive away games on the bounce and so they will need a positive result.

Key Player: Fabian Castillo – The Colombian winger has been in inspired form. He has shown this season he can be the key to unlocking the toughest of backlines and could prove the difference here.

Score Prediction

FC Dallas 2-1 New York Red Bulls – Dallas to take all three points in a tight affair and win their third on the bounce. The Red Bulls lost their last road trip in New England and another loss could be on the cards here.

MLS Preview and Prediction: New England Revolution vs New York Red Bulls

Competition: Major League Soccer – New England Revolution vs. New York Red Bulls

Venue: Gillette Stadium – Saturday, May 2nd – 19:30 ET (00:30 BST)

Match Odds: New England Revolution 23/20 – Draw 23/10 – New York Red Bulls 23/10

Match Preview

New England Revolution face New York Red Bulls on Saturday in one of this weekend’s standout fixtures. The Eastern Conference rivals are just separated by a point with the Revs leading the conference after eight weeks.

Jay Heaps’ side have had a strong start to the season and will be challenged here against a Red Bulls side that remain the only unbeaten team in MLS.

The Revs come into this one off back-to-back wins in a six-game unbeaten streak and look in a strong position ahead of the game.

Goals have been coming from all over the field for New England, five from midfield and five from the forward line, with seven different scorers netting those ten goals. Charlie Davies has bagged two in his last two outings and will be hoping he can prove himself to be a big game player in this one.

New York Red Bulls remain unbeaten but have drawn four of their opening seven games. With back-to-back home draws, they will hope for better success on the road but will need to try and stop conceding the first goal to improve their chances.

It seems as if they are missing out on opportunities to be leading the Eastern Conference but if they can continue this unbeaten form it will give them a great chance of competing for top spot.

Bradley Wright-Phillips and Lloyd Sam have started the season in brilliant form, scoring six between them. Wright-Phillips netted again midweek and his form in front of goal will be pivotal to how his side fare in the big games.

Red Bulls will have had just three days between this and their 1-1 draw against Colorado Rapids. They would have been expecting to win that game and cannot afford any complacency this weekend.

Team News

New England Revolution could be without four as Darrius Barnes, Jose Goncalves, Daigo Kobayashi and Lee Nguyen are carrying injuries. Nguyen would be a huge miss in the middle of the park but the Revs have coped well without key players already this season so Heaps should be able to rejig his midfield to cater for any potential absentees.

New York Red Bulls have just one injury concern to defender Ronald Zubar. Other than that Jesse Marsch has a full squad at his disposal. He will again be hoping for Wright-Phillips and Sam to combine but knows this is going to be a tough test.

Key Points

New England Revolution’s last five: W/W/D/W/W

New York Red Bulls’ last five: W/D/W/D/D

Key Stat: Goals – There have been 16 goals in the last five meetings between the sides so if that is anything to go by we could have an end-to-end tie.

Key Player: Lloyd Sam – The Red Bulls forward has really stepped up so far this season and is a real threat, he can be key to unlocking the Revs defence.

Score Prediction

New England Revolution 2-2 New York Red Bulls – Another close tie with action like usual. The Red Bulls to continue their unbeaten run in possibly their toughest challenge so far.

MLS Preview and Prediction: New York Red Bulls vs Colorado Rapids

Competition: Major League Soccer – New York Red Bulls vs. Colorado Rapids

Venue: Red Bull Arena – Wednesday, April 29th – 19:30 ET (00:30 BST)

Match Odds: New York Red Bulls 8/11 – Draw 13/5 – Colorado Rapids 15/4

Match Preview

New York Red Bulls host Colorado Rapids on Wednesday evening in the only midweek game in MLS to kickstart Week 9’s action.

The Red Bulls are the only remaining unbeaten side this season and will want to keep that run going for as long as possible after an encouraging start.

Jesse Marsch’s side are sitting third in the Eastern Conference and can go top with a win here. By stark contrast, the Rapids are at the foot of the Western Conference table after eight weeks.

The Red Bulls earned a solid point last weekend against LA Galaxy at home and will be keen to kick on in a game they should win on Wednesday. As we know from games already this season there have been many freak results so the Rapids cannot be written off.

Colorado have only won the once so far in that 4-0 thumping of FC Dallas and since then have lost one and drawn one, including Saturday’s clash with Dallas once again. Pablo Mastroeni’s side are finding goals hard to come by and have scored just six in their seven games so far this season.

Bradley Wright-Phillips and Lloyd Sam have been in fine form and have five of the Red Bulls’ ten goals this season, and they will be key as usual and could prove to be a real problem for the Rapids defence in this one.

Team News

New York Red Bulls have one injury going into the game as Ronald Zubar is likely to miss out again, but other than that, Marsch has a near on fully fit squad to choose from. Damien Perrinelle is one booking away from a suspension so is on thin ice and will be hoping to stay out of the referees book, having played in every game so far this season, while Roy Miller could return to the side at left-back.

Colorado Rapids are set to be without Sam Cronin and Marc Burch through injury while Marcelo Sarvas will have to watch on from the sideline as he is suspended.

Key Points

New York Red Bulls’ last five: W/W/D/W/D

Colorado Rapids’ last five: D/L/W/L/D

Key Stat: Unbeaten – The Red Bulls remain the only unbeaten side in MLS and that should still be the case heading into the weekend after this one.

Embed from Getty Images

Key Player: Lloyd Sam – The English speedster has started the season really well, scoring three in six and will fancy his chances of netting again on Wednesday night.

Score Prediction

New York Red Bulls 3-1 Colorado Rapids – The Red Bulls should have too much for the Rapids to withstand in this one, but given the unpredictability of MLS so far this season, Colorado have every chance of scoring and making a game of it.

MLS Preview and Prediction: Columbus Crew vs New York Red Bulls

Competition: Major League Soccer – Columbus Crew vs New York Red Bulls

Venue: MAPFRE Stadium – Saturday, March 28 – 19:30 ET (23:30 GMT)

Match Odds: Columbus Crew 21/20 – Draw 5/2 – New York Red Bulls – 12/5

Match Preview

Columbus Crew entertain New York Red Bulls on Saturday evening as both sides look to build upon their first win of the MLS season.

The Crew beat Toronto 2-0 last time out and are currently sitting in fourth place, with three points from two games, while the Red Bulls are in second place with four points from two games after they beat DC United 2-0 last weekend.

The last time these two sides met, it ended in a 3-1 victory for Columbus and the hosts will certainly be hoping for a repeat result.

New York Red Bulls are looking to kick into gear after getting that important first win with key man Bradley Wright-Phillips now off the mark. They need to start picking up the pace to show that they can deal with life after Thierry Henry and back-to-back wins will send out a message that they mean business.

Columbus Crew’s Kei Kamara also opened his account last weekend and he will be looking to add to his tally to show why the Crew signed him.

Both sides have started this season cautiously and have looked a little rusty in places, but as the games come thick and fast they will continue to ease into their flowing play.

Federico Higuain is yet to open his account for the campaign and he will be eager to improve on last seasons tally of 11 goals.

This is an important game for both sides who will want to stake a claim for the playoff places and Columbus head coach Gregg Berhalter will be confident he can lead the side to the playoffs once again.

Team News

Columbus Crew have just one known injury concern in the shape of Romain Gall (sprained knee). Though they will be without Justin Meram, Will Trapp and Waylon Francis, who are all away on international duty, so changes will have to be made.

New York Red Bulls don’t have too many concerns but new man Ronald Zubar could miss out with a hamstring problem and Roy Miller has a sprained knee. Dane Richards, Kemar Lawrence and Karl Ouimette are all away on international duty. Bradley Wright-Phillips and Lloyd Sam impressed last weekend, so Steve Clark could have a busy evening in-between the sticks.

Key Points

Columbus Crew’s form: L/W

New York Red Bulls’ form: D/W

Key Stat: These two sides have scored nine goals between them in their last two meetings (New York Red Bulls 1-3 Columbus Crew/New York Red Bulls 4-1 Columbus Crew). If that is anything to go by, we could be in for a treat.

Key Player: Federico Higuain – The playmaker is key to making the Crew tick and he can be the difference with the service to Kamara.

Score Prediction

Columbus Crew 1-1 New York Red Bulls – Neither side will want to lose any ground in the playoff charge, even this early on. We can expect Higuain to be pulling the strings for the Crew, while Wright-Phillips and Sam will look to pick-up where they left off last weekend.

MLS Preview and Prediction: New York Red Bulls vs DC United

Competition: Major League Soccer – New York Red Bulls vs. DC United

Venue: Red Bull Arena – Sunday, March 22 – 17:00 ET (21:00 GMT – Live on Sky Sports 5)

Match Odds: New York Red Bulls 10/11 – Draw 5/2 – DC United 3/1

Match Preview

New York Red Bulls host DC United in their first home game of the new MLS season on Sunday evening. This has the potential to be a cracker as the Eastern Conference sides renew one of the oldest MLS rivalries as they go head-to-head for the Atlantic Cup once again.

With both sides hopeful of a playoff berth again this season, New York and DC will both see this as a must win game – even if only for the bragging rights at this early stage of the campaign.

The Red Bulls have had a turbulent offseason after losing the great Thierry Henry as well as Tim Cahill and head coach Mike Petke, but have managed to shore up their defence with the addition Ronald Zubar and have also strengthened in midfield with Sacha Kljestan coming in.

Both sides were on bye weeks last weekend so will come into the game fresh and both will be looking for all three points.

The Red Bulls earned a hard fought point away to Sporting Kansas City in their opening game and will need to be at their best once again if they are to get a result from this one.

Ben Olsen’s DC United are one of the favourites to retain their Eastern Conference title this season as they look like a dangerous side despite playing without two of their best players in Fabian Espindola and Eddie Johnson.

The 1-0 win against the Montreal Impact looks like a great result as Montreal are significantly better than last season so far and have reached the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League.

However, we are expecting the Red Bulls to challenge USMNT goalkeeper Bill Hamid on Sunday night in what should be a close encounter.

With the joint-best defence in 2014, DC United will provide a real test for Bradley Wright-Phillips and his Red Bulls teammates this weekend in what has the potential to be the game of the weekend. For any UK fans reading, it’s live on Sky Sports 5 and isn’t one you want to miss.

Team News

New York Red Bulls: Peguy Luyindula could come in for Mike Grella on the left wing. Roy Miller is a doubt but is expected to feature at left-back. Ronald Zubar has a hamstring problem but he is also expected to make the starting lineup.

Embed from Getty Images

DC United: Eddie Johnson, Luis Silva and Markus Halsti are all out. Michael Seaton is a doubt and Fabian Espindola is still serving a ban that won’t see him return until Week 7. Taylor Kemp could start at left-back but is a doubt with a groin injury.

Key Points

New York Red Bulls’ form: D

DC United’s form: W

Key Stat: Bradley Wright-Phillips failed to register a single shot and only had one touch in the box when the Red Bulls played Sporting Kansas City on the opening weekend.

Embed from Getty Images

Key Player: Jairo Arrieta – New DC United striker, Jairo Arrieta arrived via a trade with Orlando and scored in his first game against Montreal last time out. With Espindola and Johnson both out, Arrieta will be the main threat in front of goal.

Score Prediction

New York Red Bulls 1-2 DC United – This one could go either way, but DC United may edge this after being eliminated from the playoffs by the Red Bulls last term. Will revenge be served at Red Bull Arena on Sunday?
