Venue: Carrow Road – Saturday, May 7 – 12:45 GMT (07:45 ET)

Match Odds: Norwich City 16/5 – Draw 13/5 – Manchester United 17/20

Match Preview

Norwich City welcome Manchester United to Carrow Road in a tie which could have a huge impact on the fight for survival and battle to finish in the top four.

Norwich sit 19th in the Premier League and trail 17th place by two points. They have a game in hand coming up in midweek so cannot be relegated this weekend but defeat could make things incredibly hard to avoid the drop.

They come into this tie off the back of their 1-0 away loss to Arsenal, a game they would have been bitterly disappointed to have not taken at least a point from.

Norwich have a huge week ahead. Just two wins in 15 make relegation look likely for The Canaries but their fate remains in their own hands.

Manchester United are clinging on to their hopes of making the top four. They come into this tie off the back of their 1-1 draw with Leicester.

United trail 4th spot by four points but they do have a game in hand which they also play in the coming week.

Manchester United fans will be praying for a favourable result on Sunday in the clash between Arsenal and City. If results go their way they could move into the top four with two wins in their next two games.

This is a huge week for Louis Van Gaal’s side and it is time for their key players to step up to the challenge. They must ensure they win all their remaining games to give them the best chance of finishing in the top four.

Team News

Norwich City have four injury concerns heading into this tie. Timm Klose, Alexander Tettey and Andre Wisdom are all expected to miss out, while Rhys Bennett is a doubt.

Manchester United could be without up to five for this clash. Luke Shaw continues his recovery from his broken leg, while Bastian Schweinsteiger, Will Keane and Adnan Januzaj all look unlikely to feature. Marouane Fellaini is suspended.

Key Points

Norwich City’s last five: W/W/L/L/L

Manchester United’s last five: W/L/W/W/D

Key Stat: Norwich City have lost their last three Premier League outings.

Key Player: Wayne Rooney – This has been one of Rooney’s quietest seasons in his career, although he has suffered an injury stricken campaign his performances have been below his high standards. Now is the time for him to show his ability as a leader and give United a fighting chance of making the top four.

Score Prediction

Norwich City 1-2 Manchester United – A win for Manchester United here wouldn’t be a huge surprise considering Norwich’s form of late. Both sides will be nervy and we can expect a cagey game as the stakes are so high. United know they have to win to keep the pressure on in their chase for Champions League football. They have the squad power to win this one.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Norwich vs Sunderland

Competition: Premier League – Norwich City vs. Sunderland

Venue: Carrow Road – Saturday, April 16 – 12:45 BST (07:45 ET)

Match Odds: Norwich 11/8 – Draw 23/10 – Sunderland 21/10

Match Preview

Norwich host Sunderland in an enormous Premier League clash in this Saturday’s midday kickoff as the battle for survival is set to intensify further.

This is as much of a six-pointer as you can get in the top flight. A win for 17th placed Norwich City would see them go seven points clear of 18th placed Sunderland and would really ease their relegation fears ahead of the final few games.

Norwich come into the game with better form and with two wins from their last three, they are clear favourites for the three points on Saturday.

Embed from Getty Images

However, those two wins were their only wins in the last 13 games in the Premier League. The lack of long-term form from the Canaries is alarming and the loss to Crystal Palace last weekend saw them thrust straight back into the relegation spotlight.

They remain four points clear of the drop heading into the weekend, although Sunderland have a game in hand. Logic would suggest that if the Canaries avoid defeat on Saturday, they will be in pole position to stay up.

Sunderland are quite the opposite as they are without a win in six. The 2-0 loss to Leicester City last weekend showed signs that things aren’t going to fall in place for the club, with Jack Rodwell’s miss from six yards proving that it’s going to be a real battle for the Black Cats to stay up.

Embed from Getty Images

The game in hand may prove to be crucial, but a loss on Saturday will see morale drop significantly as well as the chances of overturning a seven-point difference with four matches to play.

A win on Saturday, however, would be the biggest result for Sunderland this season as they seek to stay up. All eyes will be on this relegation clash and you’d be a fool to miss it.

Team News

Norwich will be without Alexander Tettey (ankle) and Timm Klose (knee) through injury. Russell Martin is a doubt as he’s carrying a knock.

Sunderland have only one worry as Duncan Watmore is a doubt with an ankle injury so he’s unlikely to feature. Apart from that, Sunderland are at full strength and so Sam Allardyce will be able to field what he sees as his strongest possible team.

Key Points

Norwich’s last five: L/D/W/W/L

Sunderland’s last five: D/D/D/D/L

Key Stat: Norwich City are unbeaten in their last five matches against Sunderland in the Premier League.

Key Player: Jermain Defoe – At crucial points in games, the former England international can produce magic in a flash. If he gets the service he requires, Defoe can fire Sunderland to three points on Saturday.

Score Prediction

Norwich 1-2 Sunderland – Norwich have won two games in the last three in the league but all their hard work will be undone should they lose come Saturday. Sunderland tested Leicester last time out and barring a few missed chances should have won the game. In this make-or-break clash, we expect the visitors to narrowly edge it.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Norwich vs Manchester City

Competition: Premier League – Norwich City vs. Manchester City

Venue: Carrow Road – Saturday, March 12 – 12:45 GMT (07:45 EST)

Match Odds: Norwich 5/1 – Draw 29/10 – Manchester City 4/7

Match Preview

Norwich City welcome Manchester City to Carrow Road in yet another tough fixture for the East Anglian side, as they try to avoid the dreaded drop back down to the Championship.

The Canaries are struggling to get clear of the bottom three and are conceding too many goals in the process. Stopping teams from scoring goals has been a problem all season and the recent 5-4 home loss to Liverpool typified their defensive struggles.

Embed from Getty Images

They are only one point adrift of Sunderland, who are currently safe, but more alarmingly, they are nine points off 16th-placed Swansea. It looks set to be a four-horse battle for survival and Norwich are in trouble.

Losing seven of their last eight matches in the Premier League is quite frankly shocking and Alex Neil will need a win sooner rather than later as he knows draws aren’t enough at this stage.

Manchester City ended a three-game losing streak in the league with a win against Aston Villa last Saturday to slightly revive their title hopes. Despite that victory, they are still ten points adrift of Leicester but do have a valuable game in hand.

Embed from Getty Images

City are the joint top scorers this year, which only highlights how bad they have been defensively. The frailties at the back should be less of concern now, though, since captain Vincent Kompany has returned from injury and looks sharp.

Things are looking up for City at the moment after a tough period for the club. They lifted the League Cup and look set to advance in the Champions League. On top of that, they are seeing players return to fitness at the right time of the year. With the quality they have, they cannot be ruled out of the title race just yet.

Team News

Norwich may be without Sebastien Bassong and Andre Wisdom, who are both doubtful for the weekend. Steven Naismith, Alex Tettey and Robbie Brady are all out.

Manchester City are without Fabian Delph, Samir Nasri and Kevin De Bruyne, who are all expected back early from injury in early April.

Key Points

Norwich’s last five: L/D/L/L/L

Manchester City’s last five: W/L/L/L/W

Key Stat: Manchester City are unbeaten in their last five away trips to Carrow road, winning four and drawing the other.

Key Player: Sergio Aguero – The Argentine frontman is by far the most influential player in the City squad and his goals have already helped the club to two Premier League titles. They’ll need him on top form to challenge for a third this season. He has five goals in his last five games against Norwich in the league and will expect to get on the scoresheet on Saturday.

Score Prediction

Norwich 0-3 Manchester City – It seems harsh, but Norwich are not a good football team team at the minute, based on recent form, and so we cannot see City dropping any points here. Norwich’s best hope would be for a draw, and even the chances of that result seem slim. City should cruise to victory and keep their faint title hopes alive.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Aston Villa vs Norwich

Competition: Premier League – Aston Villa vs. Norwich

Venue: Villa Park – Saturday, February 6 – 15:00 GMT (10:00 ET)

Match Odds: Aston Villa 11/8 – Draw 9/4 – Norwich 2/1

Match Preview

Aston Villa host Norwich in a huge Premier League clash between two relegation-threatened sides on Saturday afternoon.

Villa come into the game already looking doomed. Their 2-0 loss at West Ham on Tuesday saw them lose for the 15th time in the Premier League this season and they are now ten points adrift of safety.

They will look to lower that ten-point gap here though, as Norwich are the side sitting one place outside of the bottom three going into the weekend.

An Aston Villa win would keep their faint hopes alive, though a defeat would surely seal their fate. This is the club’s biggest game of the season and they must now step up to the occasion.

Norwich also know this game is monumental as far as their survival hopes go. They lost a fourth-straight game on Tuesday as Spurs thumped them 3-0 and a massive response is now needed.

The Canaries have only won one of their last eleven league games away from home and so this one is extremely close to call as neither side looks in a good position to go and win the match.

Norwich can take confidence from the fact they won the reverse fixture 2-0 at the end of December, though they have not won away at Villa Park since 1992.

Team News

Aston Villa have been hit with another blow as top scorer Jordan Ayew will miss three games through suspension after his red card against West Ham on Tuesday. That leaves Gabriel Agbonlahor as Remi Garde’s only fit striker as Rudy Gestede and Libor Kozak are both doubts, along with Ashley Westwood, Alan Hutton and Carlos Sanchez. Jordan Amavi and Adama Traore are both definitely out.

Norwich boss Alex Neil has less to worry about on the injury front and he will hope Robbie Brady and Graham Dorrans are well again after missing the midweek game through illness. Alexander Tettey is the only definite absentee as he will serve a one-game ban as a result of picking up ten yellow cards.

Key Points

Aston Villa’s last five: L/W/D/D/L

Norwich’s last five: W/L/L/L/L

Key Stat: Aston Villa have only won one of their last 23 Premier League games.

Key Player: Steven Naismith – The new Norwich attacker has yet to win a game in a Canaries shirt but will expect to hurt the Villa defence enough to earn three points on Saturday afternoon.

Embed from Getty Images

Score Prediction

Aston Villa 1-1 Norwich – A draw would not suit either side but this game looks set to end that way as neither side can boast any sort of encouraging form coming into what is a huge clash. Villa have several key players out, while the Canaries have lost four on the bounce. A hard-fought draw looks likely.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Norwich City vs Liverpool

Competition: Premier League – Norwich City vs. Liverpool

Venue: Carrow Road – Saturday, January 23 – 12:45 GMT (07:45 ET)

Match Odds: Norwich City 3/1 – Draw 5/2 – Liverpool 13/5

Match Preview

Norwich City welcome Liverpool to Carrow Road in Saturday’s early Premier League kick off, in which three points are vital for both teams.

Norwich return back to East Anglia after back-to-back defeats to Stoke City and Bournemouth. They conceded six goals in those two fixtures and need to shore up defensively now.

Manager, Alex Neil has been busy in the last few days with the signings of Scotland international Steven Naismith, Swiss centre-back Timm Klose and Ivan Pinto from Dynamo Zagreb joining to try and help maintain the Canaries’ Premier League status.

As we said in this week’s Podcast, Steven Naismith’s signing could prove valuable for the club with his goals and experience. Five more wins this season could keep them up, and with nine fixtures to play at home, Norwich will hope they can rely on home comforts to see them through.

Liverpool have been very inconsistent this term and are sitting in ninth place in the Premier League, with no win in three league matches. The latest being the 1-0 defeat at Anfield to Manchester United last Sunday.

A win over Exeter City in the FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday might have put some confidence back into the Reds, and Klopp ensured several first-team players were rested for that tie.

The German manager has plenty of injury worries that don’t seem to want to go away, with several first-team players out with injuries for extended periods of time. But one positive is that Jon Flanagan has returned after 18 months out.

The reverse fixture saw Norwich take a point at Anfield with a 1-1 draw back in September and the Canaries will be desperate to go one better this time around.

Team News

Norwich have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game but Gary O’Neil will continue to serve his suspension after his red card against Stoke City.

Liverpool have a whole host of injuries as Divock Origi (knee), Philippe Coutinho (hamstring), Dejan Lovren (hamstring), Martin Skrtel (hamstring), Danny Ings (ACL), Joe Gomez (ACL) and Daniel Sturridge (hip) are all still sidelined

Key Points

Norwich City’s last five: L/W/W/L/L

Liverpool’s last five: W/W/L/D/L

Key Stat: Liverpool last lost at Carrow Road in May 1993.

Key Player: Wes Hoolahan – The Irish playmaker will want to add to his impressive tally of six assists for the season. With Steven Naismith expected to play some part, Norwich fans will be hoping they strike up a formidable partnership to propel them up the table.

Score Prediction

Norwich City 1-1 Liverpool – This one has draw written all over it. An impressive draw at Anfield for Norwich earlier in the season will give them belief. The Reds played in the week and Norwich have had that extra rest, so they will fancy their chances. But Liverpool will still be hard to beat. There might not be many goals but a score draw looks likely.

Match Odds: Norwich 19/5 – Draw 29/10 – Manchester City 4/6

Match Preview

Norwich host Manchester City at Carrow Road in the third round of the FA Cup this weekend, a tie contested by two Premier League sides.

Norwich come into this one off the back of two wins on the bounce. They have been in a good run of form, having won three of their last five.

The sides have already met this season in the league, with Manchester City coming out 2-1 winners.

Norwich haven’t won in this fixture in their last three at home, (D1, L2). The sides shared a seven goal thriller back in 2012 at Carrow Road.

Manchester City come into this tie off the back of their 2-1 defeat away at Everton in midweek.

City have only won two in their last five games, not form you would associate with the title chasing side.

Manuel Pellegrini will expect nothing less than a win here and progression to the fourth round. City could potentially do a cup double this season and will be ready for the challenge.

Key Stat: Manchester City are unbeaten in ten of their last 11 games against Norwich in all competitions.

Key Player: Kevin De Bruyne – City’s big money signing has been a key player since his arrival. He could well be rested but if he is involved we expect him to be highly influential.

Venue: Carrow Road – Saturday, December 12 – 12:45 GMT (07:45 ET)

Match Odds: Norwich 15/8 – Draw 12/5 – Everton 7/5

Match Preview

Norwich host Everton in this weekend’s early clash on Saturday in a game between two sides that will be desperate to use the early fixture to climb the Premier League table.

Norwich come into the weekend in 16th place and have only won one of their last ten in the top flight – form that will surely see them relegated unless they pick up.

A 2-0 loss at Watford last week set them back further and head coach Alex Neil knows that making Carrow Road a fortress will improve their survival chances.

Embed from Getty Images

They managed to draw 1-1 with Arsenal in their last home game and will hope to pick up at least another point from this game. A win could see them move above Chelsea into 14th place.

But Everton will arrive at Carrow Road unbeaten in five and looking like a solid outfit. Roberto Martinez has done well to deal with consistent injury troubles and the Toffees look in a good position to push for a European place.

They do, however, need to start turning draws into wins after sharing points in seven of their 15 league games so far – the second highest amount behind Spurs (8).

A 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace on Monday will have left some fans disappointed but a win at Norwich could see them move as high as sixth for a few hours at least.

This will be the 15th Premier League clash between the two sides. Everton have only won four of the previous 14 fixtures, with the Canaries also sealing victories in four of those matches.

Team News

Norwich will be without Matt Jarvis as he is ruled out through injury, while Wes Hoolahan is a doubt as he is struggling with a knock. Alex Neil could name an unchanged side to the one that lost at Watford last weekend.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez could be without six first team players for the trip to Norwich. James McCarthy is a doubt, while Steven Pienaar, Phil Jagielka, Bryan Oviedo, Tony Hibbert and Tyias Browning all remain sidelined.

Key Points

Norwich’s last five in the Premier League: L/W/L/D/L

Everton’s last five in the Premier League: W/D/W/D/D

Key Stat: Everton have only won one of their seven Premier League games away at Norwich since 1992.

Key Player: Romelu Lukaku – Impossible to ignore the in-form Belgian striker as he continues to deliver for Everton. He now has seven in his last seven and looks unstoppable.

Score Prediction

Norwich 1-1 Everton – This is set to be a tight game between two sides desperate for wins as the busy Christmas period enters full swing. Norwich need to pick up points at home and will be looking for a similar performance to the one that saw them draw with Arsenal, while Everton have not won away in the league since September.

Match Preview

Chelsea host fellow strugglers Norwich on Saturday afternoon hoping to end a three-game losing streak and turn a season around that has been laughed at by Premier League fans across the country.

With one win in their last six, it surely cannot get any worse for Jose Mourinho and his side. They have lost their last three league games and must start picking up now. Surely?!

They have lost six of their seven matches against clubs in the top ten so a home match against Norwich offers a great chance to return from the international break with victory.

Chelsea’s Premier League record: P12 – W3 – D2 – L7

Jose Mourinho has stuck with the current team and has clearly dismissed the need for fresh legs – something that might be costing them as nothing seems to be improving much on a weekly basis.

This has been the worst start to a Premier League season in the Roman Abramovich era. We can only hope Chelsea can turn it back around, for normality’s sake.

Norwich have had it rough recently themselves, with only one win in seven. Alex Neil’s side have struggled to score enough goals and are too leaky at the back to build any form.

Norwich’s Premier League record: P12 – W3 – D3 – L6

It’s hard to argue against them being relegation battlers considering their open defence. They have the joint third worst defence in the league, with only Bournemouth and Sunderland shipping more goals after 12 matches.

Embed from Getty Images

Alex Neil is struggling with the firepower of top Premier League sides and their defence will need strengthening in January if they are to stay up. A trip to Chelsea is a daunting one but given the Blues’ recent run, the Canaries will arrive with optimism.

This will be the 15th Premier League meeting between the two sides since 1992. Chelsea are unbeaten in their last eight league meeting with Norwich and haven’t lost to the Canaries in 21 years.

Team News

Chelsea will still be without Thibaut Courtois through injury, though the Belgian goalkeeper has returned to training. Kurt Zouma, Eden Hazard and Radamel Falcao are all doubtful.

Norwich will be without Matt Jarvis, who is suffering a knee injury, while Nathan Redmond is doubt with a hip injury.

Key Points

Chelsea’s last five: L/W/L/L/L

Norwich’s last five: L/L/L/L/W

Key Stat: Norwich haven’t beaten Chelsea in the league since December 1994.

Key Player: Cesc Fabregas – Last year he was untouchable up until Christmas and since then he has drifted off the pace. All that being said he was back to his best for Spain against England last week. It’s impossible to predict what Fabregas will turn up, but if he’s on song, Chelsea will win.

Score Prediction

Chelsea 1-0 Norwich – Very difficult prediction to make considering Chelsea’s abysmal form so far but we assume home comforts will lead the Blues to victory on Saturday. They’ve struggled defensively this term but should be able to shutout Norwich here.

Newcastle United host Norwich City on Sunday afternoon, still looking to register their first win of the season.

Steve McClaren remains under pressure as Newcastle boss as the club sit bottom of the Premier League after eight games and there have been no signs of improvement.

The Magpies are struggling with a long injury list and will be without star goalkeeper Tim Krul for the rest of the season after he sustained a serious knee injury while on international duty.

Norwich aren’t in much better form as they go into Sunday’s clash with no win in three.

Unbelievably, the Canaries have failed to win in 14 of their last 15 away clashes in the Premier League – form of a relegation-stricken side.

Norwich started the season well but have stuttered now and look set for a hard campaign. It will be tough for them to avoid the drop but with other clubs in worse position they could be safe this year.
