Former England goal-machine claims Harry Kane must start

Harry Kane‘s call up to the England National Team has been well received and former England striker Alan Shearer claims Roy Hodgson has to start the young star in the upcoming fixtures.

The 21-year-old Tottenham forward netted a hat-trick in this weekend’s 4-3 Premier League win against Leicester City and he is oozing confidence after his first call-up to the national side.

Shearer scored 30 goals in 63 international appearances for the Three Lions and he had plenty of positives for the in-form Kane when speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day.

“I think Roy Hodgson should start him for England,” Shearer said. “He knows what he’s about and, in the form that he’s in, he’ll score goals and be a great foil for Wayne Rooney.”

Kane, who has 29 goals in all competitions this season, will be itching to impress on the international stage and Shearer believes his variation of goals is key.

“He didn’t start playing regular Premier League football until November but he’s the top scorer in the league with 19. He scores all sorts of goals – a tap-in, a penalty and a deflection against Leicester. I’m a huge fan of his.”

Kane’s performances have received plaudits from some of the biggest names in the game including Brazilian legend Pele.

The prolific youngster will surely be in with a chance of featuring in either of England’s next two games during the international break.

He has an impressive eight goals in ten games for the England U21 side and will look to transfer that form to the senior squad.

England face Lithuania at Wembley on March 27 in their latest Group E Euro 2016 qualifier before travelling to Turin to take on Italy in a friendly on March 31.

Brazil legend Pele heaps praise on scintillating Spurs star

Brazil’s legendary striker Pele is one of the greatest players to have ever graced the game and so he knows a good forward when he sees one. And in his eyes, Tottenham’s Harry Kane is one of them.

The Spurs star has been in scintillating form this season and has just earned his first England call-up as a result. Pele has offered some advice to Kane and compliments don’t come much better than from Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer.

“I think he is an excellent young player,” Pele told Press Association Sport. “He could be a good one for the English team.”

Kane added a further three goals to his season tally with a hat-trick in this afternoon’s 4-3 home win over Leicester City in the Premier League, proving once more that he is worthy of Pele’s comments.

He has now scored an astonishing 29 goals in all competitions this term, 19 of those in the league.

But Pele thinks Kane has to remain grounded if he is to continue to improve as a player.

“Tell him never think he can be the best. Always he has something to learn. That is my advice.”

Kane is quickly being regarded as one of the best players in the country and has now scored more Premier League goals this season than any other striker.

His confidence is sky-high and he showed his cool once again to slot home from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

Kane has a great chance of winning this season’s Golden Boot and will be itching to make his England debut, looking to shine on the international stage in the coming week.
