Southampton to turn to Arsenal as they look to solve goalkeeping dilemma

Ronald Koeman has identified Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny as an ideal short-term replacement for injured goalkeeper Fraser Forster, according to the Sun.

Forster is currently recovering from a knee injury that looks set to keep him out for the whole of 2015 and Southampton will need to find a replacement until he is fit.

Szczesny is a target due to losing his starting spot to David Ospina at Arsenal earlier this year. Coincidently, Szczesny’s last start in the Premier League was against Saints on New Year’s Day.

It seems that Szczesny would be open to the move too after only starting 17 times this term and there is no guarantee he’ll get any more regular action next year.

Any move would be a loan move as Southampton see Fraser Forster as their long-term goalkeeper, and it looks like it could be a move that benefits both sides.

Should Wojciech Szczesny be allowed to leave Arsenal, and if so, is he a worthy replacement for Fraser Forster?

Chelsea and Liverpool to battle for Premier League star

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is wanted by Premier League rivals Liverpool and Chelsea, with City reportedly ready to listen to offers.

It has been suggested that a fee of around £25 million would be commanded to sign the Bosnian, as he still has three years left on his current deal, and Liverpool are keeping tabs, according to the Daily Mail.

Although the Mirror have suggested that Chelsea are also in for Dzeko, and will try to sign him for as little as £10 million as they look to replace Didier Drogba.

Dzeko joined City from Wolfsburg in January 2011 for a reported £27 million fee. He has scored a total of 50 goals in 130 appearances for City in the Premier League.

Dzeko was reportedly a target for many European clubs last season with Juventus, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and former club Wolfsburg all showing interest.

After enduring a tough season where he has only started 11 times in the Premier League, scoring only four goals, it looks likely that he will leave.

The signing of Wilfried Bony in January pushed Dzeko further down the pecking order and he will need to move elsewhere to get regular first team football next term.

Should Manchester City sell Edin Dzeko this summer, and if so, which club will he move to?

Chelsea suffer blow as star is open to joining Arsenal or United

Chelsea have suffered a huge blow as Petr Cech‘s agent has revealed his client is open to a move to Arsenal or Manchester United.

Both Arsenal and United are expected to dip into the transfer market for new goalkeepers. Arsene Wenger could seek an upgrade for David Ospina and David de Gea’s Real Madrid saga is still ongoing.

Cech would be a great addition for either club, having won almost every trophy available during his eleven year chelsea career.

Jose Mourinho is hoping to keep hold of his back-up ‘keeper but it appears the decision will be down to owner Roman Abramovich.

Cech still has one season to run on his current contract and if he stays with Chelsea he will more than likely move on for free. If the Premier League champions cash in on the 32-year-old shot stopper it is estimated his services would fetch around £10 million.

Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Besiktas are all reportedly interested in the Czech Republic number one and Mourinho will hope his star will opt for a move away from one of the clubs rivals.

Will Cech leave Chelsea? Will he be allowed to move to one of their rivals?

Liverpool closing in on Premier League goal-machine

Liverpool are closing in on Aston Villa‘s Christian Benteke as the striker is looking to force his way out of the club, according to the Sun.

Benteke has netted 13 goals in 28 Premier League appearances, recapturing the form he showed when he first signed for Villa in 2012.

Brendan Rodgers is expected to enter the summer transfer market in search of a goal-scorer as Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have been linked with moves away from the club. Daniel Sturridge is expected to miss the start of the season so Rodgers will see his options severely limited.

Villa boss, Tim Sherwood, is desperate not to lose his star-man but Benteke is reportedly set to double his wages if he secures a move to Merseyside.

Benteke’s current deal is set to expire in 2017 so any potential club will have to pay around £30 million to secure his services.

Would Benteke be a good signing for Liverpool?

Liverpool rocked as star forward set to announce exit plans

Liverpool are set to suffer another setback in the Raheem Sterling transfer saga as Sky Sports report he will tell the club he has no intentions of signing a new deal.

Sky Sports understand that Sterling is due to meet with manager Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre next week for crunch talks regarding his future.

The 20-year-old starlet still has two years to run on his existing contract. Sterling, having already turned down one contract rumoured to be around £100,000-a-week, says he is motivated by trophies.

Liverpool’s failure to regain Champions League status could well play a part in why Sterling may choose to move on.

The club were quick to comment on the situation and claim their position remains unchanged that the Englishman is not for sale.

This could prove to be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer and a case of ‘will he, won’t he’ in terms of Sterling to stay or depart.

Will Sterling leave Liverpool this summer? Is it the right time for him to move on?

Arsenal set to raid FC Barcelona for second successive summer

Arsenal could sign FC Barcelona‘s Pedro Rodriguez for as little as £10 million, according to Fichajes.net.

Last summer’s marquee signing of Alexis Sanchez has proved to be great business by Arsene Wenger and it looks as if he could be set to raid the Catalans for a second pre season in succession.

Pedro has seen his game time limited this season and a number of clubs are interested in signing the Spanish World Cup winner, but he could favour a move to link up with former teammate Sanchez.

The 27-year-old cannot be blamed for wanting a new challenge as he has played second fiddle to Barca’s deadly trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

At just £10 million, Pedro would be an absolute bargain for any potential new club and he will certainly be looking to move somewhere where he is guaranteed playing time and Champions League football.

The skilful winger boasts an impressive trophy cabinet, with the likes of the World Cup and Champions League winners medals, and he has a wealth of experience.

In 2010 he scored Barca’s opener against Manchester United in the Champions League final at Wembley and is still just as sharp and calm in front of goal.

Pedro has scored six times this season in 34 league appearances, 20 of which are from the bench and it looks likely that he will be moving on this summer for a new challenge at a cut-price.

Will Pedro leave FC Barcelona this summer and is Arsenal a possible destination?

Manchester United have been linked with a number of goal-scorers as Louis Van Gaal is to revamp his squad once again in their push for silverware next term.

Arsene Wenger’s side look close to being the complete package and are arguably only a couple of signings away from challenging for the Premier League title, and Lacazette could hold the key for their success.

Will Lacazette be on the move this summer and where is his most likely destination?

Liverpool legend urges Arsenal to strengthen this summer

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has urged Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to strengthen his squad this summer.

The comments come as Arsenal drew 1-1 against Manchester United on Sunday, and Souness suggested that to win the title, Arsenal would need to strengthen over the summer.

“Forget spine, forget any names, if you’re a big football club and you’re not strengthening, you’re standing still as all the other big clubs will be strengthening.” Souness said on Sky Sports.

Arsenal’s title drought has stretched another year and it’s now eleven years without winning the league for the Gunners.

A topic that has sparked debate is Arsene Wenger’s transfer policy recently. Arsenal have made a marquee signing in each of the last two summer transfer windows, adding Mesut Ozil in 2013 and Alexis Sanchez in 2014.

Both players have been brilliant recently and Souness has suggested that Arsenal should once again look to spend big in the market.

Should Arsenal look to strengthen again it would be interesting to see who they target, as it seems that they will be competing with rivals: Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea for the biggest names available.

Do Arsenal need to strengthen this summer, and which players should they be looking at?

Juventus line up Chelsea man to replace £70m City target

Juventus are eyeing Chelsea‘s Ramires as a potential replacement for Manchester City target, Paul Pogba, according to Gazetta dello Sport.

Ramires has made 23 appearances in an injury-stricken season and when fit has struggled to break into the first team as a result of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic’s consistency in the holding midfield role.

Pogba is heavily tipped to move on this summer and City have been eyeing the highly sought after midfield powerhouse, though Chelsea, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid are all chasing the 22 year old.

Ramires is valued at £22 million by transfermarkt.co.uk and could be one of Mourinho’s players to sell to generate funds to freshen up his squad.

City will need Juventus to have a replacement lined up for Pogba if they are to stand any chance of securing his services.

Ramires is out for Chelsea’s remaining two games through injury and could have played his last game for the club if the rumours are true.

Will Ramires play a key role in Manchester City’s chances of signing Paul Pogba this sumer?

Arsenal dealt HUGE blow as target eyes Real Madrid move

Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Petr Cech as he is ready to join Real Madrid, according to The Sun.

Madrid have been heavily tipped to secure the signing of Manchester United shot stopper, David De Gea, but if the Spaniard snubs Los Blancos, Cech is willing to step in.

The Chelsea ‘keeper is unhappy with playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois and does not want another season on the sidelines.

Jose Mourinho does not want to lose his number two, who has performed as good as ever in the games he has been called upon in the Premier League this season, with five clean sheets in six games.

Cech would be considerably cheaper than De Gea, with talk of any transfer for the Spaniard costing upward of £30 million.

Chelsea are keen for Cech to stay but have not ruled out his departure, although Mourinho doesn’t want him to move to any of their Premier League rivals.

Cech is rated at £10.5 million by transfermarkt.co.uk and Chelsea risk losing the Czech Republic international on a free next summer when his contract expires if they do not sell him in the coming months.

Will Petr Cech leave Chelsea this summer? Do Arsenal have any chance of signing him?
