£35m-rated goal machine deals HUGE blow to Arsenal and Liverpool

Arsenal and Liverpool’s pursuit of Lyon’s goal machine, Alexandre Lacazette, has been dealt a huge blow as the 23-year-old striker says he will be with the French club next season, the Express has reported.

The Lyon forward is Ligue 1’s top scorer with 26 goals in 30 appearances and his form has attracted interest from clubs across Europe but any chances of a move away from the club is unlikely, despite the reported interest from the Premier League duo surrounding a £35 million move.

“I do not know what will happen, but at the moment I can say that I will play in Lyon next year,” Lacazette told Footmercato.net.

Arsene Wenger’s side could have mounted a stronger title charge had they had an out-and-out goalscorer this season. Olivier Giroud’s absence through injury certainly affected their chances of winning the Premier League as they have lacked depth in their frontline.

While Liverpool’s injury woes have probably cost them any chance of playing in the Champions League next season. Daniel Sturridge has barely featured this campaign, making just 12 Premier League appearances.

Brendan Rodgers’ gamble on signing Mario Balotelli looks as if it has backfired as the Italian has scored just once in the league and looks likely to move on this summer.

The Merseyside club have failed to replace Luis Suarez and Lacazette could have been an ideal acquisition, but Lyon are pushing Paris Saint Germain all the way for the Ligue 1 title and he will want to be playing in Europe’s top competition next season.

Lacazette appears to be settled for now, so it would appear both Premier League clubs will have to venture elsewhere in their search for a top striker this summer.

‘Done deal’: Chelsea star on his way to PSG this summer – report

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has been linked with a Stamford Bridge exit for the past few months and it now looks as though he will be moving to France with Paris Saint-Germain, as former Blues player and coach Ray Wilkins has claimed the move is done.

Cech has struggled to see regular action under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea this season following Thibaut Courtois’ return from Atletico Madrid and the Czech Republic international has said he is not willing to spend another season sitting on the bench.

At 32, Cech still has several years ahead of him, and PSG look to have beaten Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter Milan to his services if Wilkins is to be believed.

Wilkins made his comments regarding Cech’s future while speaking on beIN Sport during PSG’s 3-1 Champions League loss to Barcelona on Wednesday night.

Current PSG ‘keeper Salvatore Sirigu could be on the way out of the club after some disappointing displays, while the signing of Cech would mean that Spurs star Hugo Lloris would be unlikely to leave White Hart Lane this summer, as he has also been linked with a move back to France with Paris Saint-Germain.

It was reported last week that Cech was close to agreeing a deal to join Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan but it now looks as though PSG will be his next club after making 331 appearances for Chelsea during his 11 seasons at the club.

Would Paris Saint-Germain be a good destination for Petr Cech?

Manchester United now favourites for Barca star with three-year deal on the table

Manchester United are now the favourites in the race to sign Barcelona right-back Dani Alves this summer, according to Fichajes.net, and the Red Devils are looking to offer the Brazilian a three-year deal if he agrees to move to the Premier League.

Alves is looking increasingly likely to leave Barcelona when his contract expires at the end of the season after refusing the negotiate a new deal with the Spanish giants in the last week.

Paris Saint-Germain have been heavily linked with a move for Alves, with some reports even suggesting that the player had already agreed to a move to Ligue 1, but the 31-year-old defender has confirmed that no deal has been reached with any other club yet.

“I am happy at Barça and I have not signed for another club,” Alves told beIN Sport.

“If clubs offer me an alternative or I am not at the level Barça want me to be at then I will contemplate other options. I will decide at the end of the season.”

The Fichajes report suggests United are now favourites to land the two-time Champions League winner and will offer him a three-year contract at Old Trafford on similar wages to what he is currently on with Barcelona.

The report finishes by suggesting that the player could even sign a pre-contract agreement with United before the end of the season as a move for the Brazilian star looks to be just around the corner.

Manchester United preparing €78m move for two world-class stars – report

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a massive £57 million double bid for Paris Saint-Germain duo Thiago Silva and Edinson Cavani as Louis Van Gaal looks to further strengthen his side this summer, according to the Sunday People.

Van Gaal expects more big names to arrive at Old Trafford in the coming months with the Red Devils on the verge of securing a place in next season’s Champions League after six straight Premier League wins.

PSG striker, Cavani has been linked with a switch to United for some time now and this summer could be the perfect time to swoop, with attacking reinforcements one of Van Gaal’s priorities.

Radamel Falcao’s loan move is not set to be made permanent, while Robin Van Persie is set to leave and could be one of four players offered as bait in United’s transfer moves.

The Dutch forward is deemed as surplus to requirements and could be offered to clubs along with fellow striker Javier Hernandez, right-back Rafael and winger Nani.

Cavani has had to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG since joining from Napoli in 2013 in a deal worth around £50 million, and could be tempted with a move to the Premier League with United.

His PSG teammate Thiago Silva is also being targeted by United as the 30-year-old Brazil international could follow Cavani to Old Trafford in a huge double move.

The powerful centre-back is being lined up by Van Gaal as an alternative option to German defender Mats Hummels if the Dortmund star is unable to be signed.

The Red Devil’s will offer £57 million to the Ligue 1 giants in the hope of bringing both players to Old Trafford, while Van Persie could be offered as part of any deal.

Would Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva be good signings for Manchester United? Who should be the priority signing of the two?

Manchester United preparing £40m raid for PSG star

Manchester United have been linked with some of the best defenders in Europe ahead of the summer transfer window, and Louis Van Gaal is now looking to Paris Saint-Germain with interest in Marquinhos.

The promising Brazilian centre-back is a player United tried to sign in January but their interest in the Brazilian remains and a £40.1 million bid is being prepared, according to the Metro.

Van Gaal’s side have already been linked with Dani Alves, Nathaniel Clyne and Mats Hummels and their defence could be one of the best in Europe if they are to bring in their targets.

Marquinhos has made 18 Ligue 1 appearances this campaign despite facing tough competition for places in a backline which boasts the likes of £50m signing David Luiz and Thiago Silva.

The 20-year-old defender could be in line for a move to the Premier League as he is struggling to find a regular first team place at PSG and Manchester United would be able to offer the highly-rated star regular minutes in the side.

He wouldn’t come cheap though as PSG would look to recoup the €31.4m they spent on him back in 2013 and would want to make profit on that amount, but with Van Gaal expected to spend big in the summer a move is not too farfetched.

Barcelona have also expressed an interest in Marquinhos but are unlikely to be able to sign anyone in 2015 as their transfer ban continues.

Would Marquinhos be a good signing for Manchester United? Should he be their priority defensive target?

Arsenal preparing move for £10m-rated former Newcastle star

Arsenal are weighing up another move for Paris Saint-Germain and former Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye, according to the Daily Mirror.

Cabaye has made 19 appearances for PSG this season, nine of which have come from the bench, and could be open to a move in the search of regular first team football.

Arsenal were unsuccessful in signing the French international twice during his time at Newcastle but  it looks like Arsene Wenger has a great chance of landing his man this summer.

It is reported that Arsenal could sign the 29 year old for as little as £10m and his wealth of Premier League experience would make him a steal for such a low fee.

Arsenal appear to be lacking a quality holding midfielder and Cabaye could be a perfect addition to the side. Francis Coquelin has been excellent in midfield for the past few months but Cabaye offers something different.

The midfielder possesses the qualities to score goals and is renowned for his set piece speciality, and his wide range of passing from a deep midfield position could be something Arsene Wenger values highly.

Should Arsenal make a move for Yohan Cabaye this summer?

Manchester United favourites to sign Barcelona star

FC Barcelona wing-back, Dani Alves, is set to depart the Catalan club this summer when his contract expires and Manchester United are now the frontrunners to secure his services after Paris Saint-Germain have dropped out of the running according to the Daily Express.

Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in signing the Brazil star has been brought to an end, according to club chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

“PSG were interested in Alves for a long time, but we aren’t anymore,” he told L’Equipe.

Manchester United are on the hunt for another full-back and are also interested in signing Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne.

Dani Alves, 31, would be a costly addition to the side, with United apparently willing to offer him in excess of £150,000-a-week.

Alves, who has been at Barcelona for seven years, has a wealth of experience. He has won some of football’s most prestigious accolades, including two Champions League and four La Liga titles.

Louis Van Gaal is keen to bring in another right-back as Rafael has just over a year remaining on his current deal and has not featured enough for the Red Devils this season, after struggling with injuries.

Is this Chelsea star in for a shock move to Spurs?

Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race for Chelsea‘s Petr Cech as a potential replacement for Paris Saint-Germain target Hugo Lloris, according to the Daily Mirror.

Spurs are looking at replacements for Lloris as PSG have upped their interests in the French superstar, with Steve Mandanda another possible arrival.

Petr Cech hasn’t been hiding from the fact that he looks set to depart Chelsea this summer as he is frustrated by playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois, who has established himself as Jose Mourinho’s first-choice stopper.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has been with the Blues since 2004 and it seems his immensely successful career in West London is coming to end, though he could well sign off with his fourth Premier League trophy.

Cech would be an ideal replacement for Lloris due to his vast Premier League experience and if it were not for Chelsea looking to the future he would more than likely still be their number one.

Spurs would face tough competition to acquire his services though, as a whole host of top European sides are monitoring his situation, with Liverpool and Arsenal also tracking the Czech Republic international.

Cech is also a target for PSG but if they choose to offer Spurs big money for Lloris, then the Lilywhites could reinvest by meeting Chelsea’s £10 million valuation for the commanding ‘keeper.

Could Petr Cech make the move across London to Spurs? Would he be an ideal replacement for Hugo Lloris if the Frenchman leaves?

Is this French star set to replace Hugo Lloris at Spurs?

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is again being linked with a move away from the club, with the latest reports suggesting Paris Saint-Germain are ready to step up their interests in the France captain.

Lloris is one of Europe’s best goalkeepers and if Spurs fail to make the Champions League again this season, he may look to move on after three years in North London.

Spurs fan will hope that is not the case, but if the worst happens then fellow French stopper Steve Mandanda could be brought in as his replacement, after revealing he would like to follow in Lloris’ footsteps.

“My ambition is to play at a big European club,” Mandanda told France Football. “I also have the desire to experience something else abroad. But if I have to leave for different reasons, I won’t go just anywhere, nor at any price.

“Like a lot of players, it’s a destination that attracts me – the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world. It’s also the one that’s most in the media spotlight, but I am not fixed on one choice in particular.”

Mandanda has been with Ligue 1 side Marseille for the past eight years, winning the division’s Goalkeeper of the Year award twice. Lloris won the same award three times himself while with Lyon and the French ‘keepers have battled for the starting role with Les Bleus for their entire careers.

Mandanda has kept more league clean sheets in France this season (9) than Lloris has managed in the Premier League (7), and while Lloris is the better goalkeeper, Mandanda would surely be a good replacement at White Hart Lane if the Spurs star joins PSG this summer.

Michel Vorm was brought in from Swansea City last year but has struggled to really impress in a Spurs shirt and is likely to remain second choice if a replacement for Lloris is needed.

Manchester United legend claims European goal-machine what United need

Peter Schmeichel has claimed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be an ideal signing for Manchester United and believes the Paris Saint-Germain star could be one of the club’s great players were he to move to the Premier League.

“Last summer there were rumours that he would come to Manchester United. I said back then that Zlatan was built for the club, he was born to play.” Schmeichel said speaking to L’Equipe.

“What Zlatan does with PSG is quite incredible. “He gives PSG so much credibility and visibility.

Schmeichel went on to compare Ibrahimovic to one of Manchester United’s greatest-ever strikers in Eric Cantona.

The former goalkeeping hero feels that the freedom given to players at United would suit the PSG striker and that his personality would help him to shine.

“Why was Cantona so strong when I was there and not that strong in Leeds or France? Because it’s Manchester United,” Schmeichel added.

“There’s this freedom given to players but also responsibilities. We don’t care what you like or who you are, we care about what you do on the pitch and the influence you have on the team. If you don’t respect that, you leave.

“There are hundreds of players who are trying to be a Beckham or a Cantona but do not have the personality, and they fail.”

Ibrahimovic certainly possesses the qualities to play in the Premier League and his goal output doesn’t seem to be dropping despite the fact he is 33 now.

He has 23 goals in 30 games so far this season and an incredible 316 career goals in 569 games – a strike rate of a goal in every 1.8 matches.

With a year left to run on his Paris Saint-Germain contract he could still be a costly signing and whether or not Louis Van Gaal is likely to spend out on a 33 year old remains to be seen.

Do you think Zlatan Ibrahimovic could move to United? Would he be a success in the Premier League?
