Arsenal, Liverpool and United dealt HUGE blow in pursuit of World Cup winner

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of World Cup winner, Sami Khedira, as the Express are reporting he has opened contract talks with Bundesliga side Schalke 04.

Khedira has long been reported to be on the way out of Real Madrid when his contract expires this summer and has been a target for some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

But according to the Express, he has opened talks with Bundesliga outfit, Schalke ahead of a possible move back to his homeland.

Khedira’s midfield anchoring abilities are on par with some of the best in Europe and he would be a great asset for any club chasing his services.

The World Cup winner has made 161 appearances for Madrid, but after an injury-hit season it is looking likely that he will be plying his trade somewhere else next campaign, as a new offer is not set to be put on the table.

The 28-year-old German star is hitting the peak of his career and his next club could be decided sooner rather than later.

Will Sami Khedira snub Premier League offers this summer to join Schalke? Where should he go?

Manchester United favourites to sign £200,000-a-week Madrid star

Manchester United look favourites to sign Real Madrid midfielder, Sami Khedira, as they have been offered the German if they are willing to offer him £200,000-a-week, according to the Daily Star.

Khedira has also attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, but United are looking to stump up high wages to secure the 28-year-old midfield enforcer, who becomes a free agent when his Real Madrid contract expires this summer.

With his contract almost up, the German international will make the choice of his next employer, with the Premier League looking his most likely destination, despite interest from Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.

He has made just eight appearances in La Liga this season and is part of one of the most competitive midfield groups in Europe.

Injury troubles have consistently hampered his career but Louis Van Gaal is believed to be keen on signing the powerful midfield man to add strength to the United midfield.

Van Gaal is expected to have another busy transfer window this summer and despite high wages, bringing in Khedira as a free agent could be a good start to a busy few months for the United manager.

The Dutchman also wants to sign German defender Mats Hummels and the Dortmund centre-back could link up with Khedira if both players move to Old Trafford in the coming months.

Would Sami Khedira be a good signing for Manchester United?

Arsenal, Man United & Chelsea face tough battle for Real Madrid star

Germany World Cup winner and Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has finally confirmed he will leave Los Blancos at the end of the season after five years in the Spanish capital.

The defensive midfielder has been restricted to just 11 appearances this season due to injuries that have troubled him since November 2013. He returned towards the end of last season to play a part in Madrid’s tenth European title (La Decima) and his country’s World Cup triumph in Brazil.

It’s no secret Real have tried to tie him down to a new contract but Khedira has rejected the contract offers and in December he said, “if we can reach a solution, I’ll be very happy.” But now it seems Khedira is all but gone from Madrid.

“I will give everything for this shirt until the last day of my contract, there should be no doubt about that.

“It’s not a decision against Real Madrid. I want to find new challenges for my career and continue to grow as a player,” Khedira told Spanish newspaper Marca.

The German has lost his place in the Real Madrid starting lineup with Carlo Ancelotti preferring Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the heart of the midfield.

The news is sure to alert a whole host of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. The Gunners have been known to be huge admirers of the in-demand midfielder and his best friend Mesut Ozil plays at the Emirates.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho brought Khedira to Real Madrid in 2010 and would love to be reunited with him.

The former Stuttgart man has also been linked with a move back to his homeland with interest from Bundesliga clubs Bayern Munich, Schalke and Wolfsburg. But Khedira says he is yet to reach a deal with anyone over his future.

“I don’t have an agreement with any club nor any preferences as to who I would like to join,” Khedira told Kicker.

If Khedira is to leave this summer, it would surely be one of the biggest bosman transfers in recent years.
