Premier League Preview and Prediction: West Ham United vs Arsenal

Competition: Premier League – West Ham United vs. Arsenal

Venue: London Stadium – Saturday, December 3 – 17:30 GMT (12:30 ET)

Match Odds: West Ham 4/1 – Draw 16/5 – Arsenal 4/6

Match Preview

West Ham host Arsenal at the London Stadium on Saturday evening in the first ever Premier League London derby at the Hammers’ new ground.

Both sides were in EFL Cup action in midweek and both were dumped out of the competition – West Ham losing 4-1 away at Man United, while Arsenal suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Southampton.

But attentions now turn back to Premier League action and this is an important game for the Hammers who need to gain confidence – winning a big game like this could give them the lift they need.

Slaven Bilic’s side are just one point and two places above the drop zone after 13 games, following a disappointing start to the season, although the move to a new ground could be seen as a major reason for struggling.

West Ham recorded two consecutive wins in October, but have since gone on a run of four league games without victory (D2, L2), although they have stemmed the flow of defeats, losing just two of their last seven (W2, D3).

Arsenal returned to winning ways with a 3-1 success in a tricky game at home to Bournemouth last weekend and while they’ll be disappointed to lose in the EFL Cup in midweek, it was never a priority this season.

The Gunners are still yet to lose a league game since the opening day defeat to Liverpool (W8, D4) and will come into this game as favourites, given their opponents’ inconsistency.

Arsene Wenger’s side are also undefeated away from home in all competitions this season, so they’ll be hoping to continue their impressive run to keep in touch with the front-runners.

The last meeting between these two sides was a thrilling 3-3 draw at Upton Park back in April. West Ham have only beaten Arsenal once in their last 16 attempts in the league (D3, L12), although that did come at the Emirates last season when they won 2-0.

Team News

West Ham will be without Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio after both suffered groin injuries in midweek. Diafra Sakho (thigh) and Sam Byram (hamstring) are also out, while Andy Carroll and Arthur Masuaku could return to the squad.

Arsenal’s familiar problem with injuries is no different this season. They will be without Mathieu Debuchy after he suffered a hamstring injury last weekend, while Olivier Giroud (groin) is a doubt. Santi Cazorla has undergone ankle surgery and will be sidelined for a further three months. Hector Bellerin (ankle) remains out, while Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck (both knee) are long-term absentees. Mohamed Elneny was taken off early in midweek, reportedly suffering with illness, but will hope to be fit for action this weekend.

Key Points

West Ham’s last five: W/L/D/L/D

Arsenal’s last five: D/W/D/D/W

Key Stat: The Gunners are unbeaten in eight league visits to West Ham (W6, D2).

Key Player: Alexis Sanchez – The Chilean doesn’t even seem to need to play well to produce results. He didn’t have his greatest game last weekend, yet he still netted twice and proved to be the difference for Arsenal. That’s the sign of a world-class player. His work ethic is above anyone’s and he could be crucial once again.

Score Prediction

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal – This is always a tough game to call. But Arsenal will sense an opportunity as Man City and Chelsea play each other, so there is a chance to make up some ground on at least one of them. The Hammers are still struggling to find their feet at the London Stadium and they could be exposed again if the Gunners perform how we all know they can on their day.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United

Competition: Premier League – Tottenham Hotspur vs. West Ham United

Venue: White Hart Lane – Saturday, Novemeber 19 – 17:30 GMT (12:30 ET)

Match Odds: Tottenham 8/15 – Draw 16/5 – West Ham 5/1

Match Preview

Tottenham welcome West Ham to White Hart Lane on Saturday evening as the Premier League returns following the international break.

Spurs remain the only side unbeaten in the Premier League this season, but the North London club are trailing top spot by five points and are currently 5th.

There is plenty of room for improvement for Tottenham despite their strong start to the season. Mauricio Pochettino, his players and the fans will be expecting more.

Tottenham come into this one having drawn their last four games on the bounce. While remaining unbeaten is a real positive, Spurs could easily be top of the league if they could find the back of the net on a more regular basis.

West Ham United’s form has picked up and they look to be getting their season back on track after an unfavourable start.

The Hammers had won just one of their opening six games but have since picked up eight points in their last five games.

Slaven Bilic will have his sights set on pushing his side up the table and into the top ten. West Ham are currently 17th, but there are just eight points separating the relegation zone and European places in what looks set to be the tighest Premier League season ever.

West Ham are going to have to pick up their away form. They have won just once on the road this season, losing the other four. This is the first game of an incredibly tough four games against title contendors for Bilic’s side and they cannot afford to lose all of those fixtures. A positive result here is a must.

Team News

Tottenham could be without as many as five for the visit of West Ham, as Ben Davies, Erik Lamela, Marcus Edwards and Toby Alderweireld are all expected to be out, while Dele Alli is a doubt. Moussa Sissoko returns following his suspension.

West Ham are expecting to be without eight players as their injury woes continue. Arthur Masuaku, Gokhan Tore, Sam Byram, Andy Carroll and Winston Reid are out, while James Collins, Diafra Sakho and Reece Oxford are all doubts. Mark Noble is suspended.

Key Points

Tottenham Hotspur’s last five: W/D/D/D/D

West Ham United’s last five: D/W/W/L/D

Key Stat: Stalemate – Tottenham have drawn their last four Premier League games.

Key Player: Hugo Lloris – It might not seem the case considering they’re unbeaten, but there is a lot of pressure on the Spurs ‘keeper. He is unquestionably the reason that not one of their four consecutive draws have been a loss. Lloris will have to continue to perform at the highest level while Tottenham are not scoring enough goals to win games.

Score Prediction

Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 West Ham United – Tottenham to put an end to their run of consecutive draws and continue to challenge in the title race. West Ham’s away form has been tough to take for their fans and it won’t get any easier this weekend.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Manchester City vs West Ham United

Competition: Premier League – Manchester City vs. West Ham United

Venue: Etihad Stadium – Sunday, August 28 – 16:00 BST (11:00 ET)

Match Odds: Man City 2/7 – Draw 9/2 – West Ham 9/1

Match Preview

Manchester City welcome West Ham United to the Etihad on Sunday afternoon in what they will be hoping is a relatively straightforward tie.

City are top of the league on goals scored and we can expect them to be a fierce competitor for the Premier League title this season.

They come into this one off the back of their 4-1 thumping of Stoke last weekend, an impressive performance that had the real look of a Pep Guardiola side.

City will be keen to continue racking up the goals here in order to remain the early pace setters in the league this season. Home form is something Guardiola sides are renowned for, he will be expecting a tough tie but nothing less than three points from this game.

West Ham United bounced back from their opening day defeat to pick up a late win over Bournemouth in their first league game at the London Stadium last time out.

Slaven Bilic’s squad is stretched by injuries and fitness concerns to his key players even this early on in the season, he will be hoping to make a couple of extra signings before the window closes.

The Hammers have struggled away against Manchester City but did win in this fixture last season, they will be looking to frustrate their opponents in this tie but will be expecting to see little of the ball.

West Ham will be hoping to bounce back from being knocked out of Europe on Thursday with a positive result here, but the fans will be bracing themselves for a disappointing week as they take on arguably the strongest squad in the league.

Team News

Manchester City could be without up to five through injury as Vincent Kompany, Ilkay Gündogan, Leroy Sané are all out, while Bacary Sagna and Kelechi Iheanacho are both doubts. New signing Claudio Bravo isn’t expected to make his debut this week so we can expect Willy Caballero to return to the starting XI following what appeared to be Joe Hart’s farewell in the Champions League in midweek.

West Ham have eight injury concerns heading into this tie as Aaron Cresswell, Diafra Sakho, André Ayew and Andy Carroll are all expected to be out, while Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini, Sofiane Feghouli and Håvard Nordtveit are all doubts.

Key Points

Manchester City’s form: W/W

West Ham United’s form: L/W

Key Stat: Manchester City have lost only one of their last ten Premier League games against West Ham at home, winning eight and drawing one.

Key Player: Sergio Aguero – The City goal machine has scored 37 goals in 47 Premier League games against London teams. He has an eye for goal against West Ham with six in eight league appearances.

Score Prediction

Manchester City 3-1 West Ham United – Manchester City should be taking all three points in the majority of their home games this season if we are to believe that Guardiola is the real deal and this game is no exception. West Ham United have a squad that is being stretched through injuries and fitness issues but will still be able to cause City problems here, just not enough to win the game.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: West Ham United vs Bournemouth

Competition: Premier League – West Ham United vs. Bournemouth

Venue: London Stadium – Sunday, August 21 – 16:00 BST (11:00 ET)

Match Odds: West Ham 17/20 – Draw 13/5 – Bournemouth 3/1

Match Preview

West Ham United make their long awaited London Stadium Premier League debut this weekend as they welcome Bournemouth, this should be an exciting day for the Hammers.

West Ham lost their opening game of the season in controversial fashion against Chelsea as they conceded a late Costa strike, who should have been sent off for a second bookable offence earlier in the game.

The Hammers struggled offensively in that tie, only touching the ball seven times in the opposition penalty area.

This is a chance for West Ham to give their fans a day to remember and get off to a winning start at their new home in the league, there will be a huge buzz around the ground as they hope to make it a fortress.

Bournemouth come into their first away game of the season having already conceded three goals. Their fans will be hoping their opening weekend loss to Manchester United isn’t a sign of what is to come.

Eddie Howe insists he is happy with his Bournemouth squad and isn’t planning to make anymore signings in the transfer window.

He will be hoping their ‘Sunday curse’ can come to an end here, as he has not yet seen his side win a Premier League game on a Sunday.

Bournemouth have work to do to improve, they haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league since March, a run which has stretched to 11 games.

Team News

West Ham United five injury concerns ahead of this tie. Record signing Andre Ayew requires surgery after suffering a thigh injury on his league debut for the Hammers, while Manuel Lanzini, Aaron Creswell, Diafra Sakho and Sofiane Fegholi remain out.

Bournemouth have four injury concerns heading into this one as Junior Stanislas, Tyrone Mings, Emerson Hyndman and Baily Cargill are still unavailable.

Bournemouth’s form: L

Key Stat: West Ham have scored at least one goal in their last 14 Premier League outings.

West Ham United 2-1 Bournemouth – West Ham to open their Premier League account at London Stadium with a win. Bournemouth will work them hard in this tie, but their Sunday struggles are set to continue.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Chelsea vs West Ham United

Competition: Premier League – Chelsea FC vs. West Ham United

Venue: Stamford Bridge – Monday, August 15 – 20:00 BST (15:00 ET)

Match Odds: Chelsea 4/6 – Draw 29/10 – West Ham 4/1

Match Preview

Chelsea open their Premier League campaign and new era under Antonio Conte against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.

The Blues have a lot to improve upon from their dismal 2015/16 campaign and Roman Abramovic has entrusted the experienced Conte to be the man to take them back to the top. He has a huge task on his hands here and a very tricky opener against a West Ham side who had a very impressive 15/16 season.

One of the first things Conte will need to change is Chelsea’s home form. Throughout many of the recent Premier League years they have turned Stamford Bridge into a fortress. But they have drawn eight of their last ten home league matches and need to get off the mark with a win here to show they are heading back to their best.

In what has been a relatively quiet transfer window, in terms of new signings for Chelsea, there is a lot of making up to do on the players behalf. Conte will not accept anyone not pulling their weight or not giving their all for the side. It will be an interesting opening few games for the Blues and they have to show their intent right from the off here.

Embed from Getty Images

West Ham United come into their opener with nothing to lose. They enjoyed a strong 15/16 campaign, where they ended up 7th on 62 points. Slaven Bilic has been moulding this West Ham side into exactly what he wants and they could even push for a higher place this season.

If West Ham can get off to a flyer and take all three points here they will be sending out a message to the rest of the league that they mean business yet again.

Worryingly for The Hammers, their form at the tail end of the season showed their vulnerabilities, as they conceded at least two goals in eight of their last ten league games. Bilic has been working hard to address this through preseason and we could see an even more resolute West Ham side this campaign.

West Ham haven’t won at ‘The Bridge’ in their last 11 attempts, a run stretching back to 2002. If they can bring that run to an end here; not only will their confidence be sky high, but they’ll have the added bragging rights of spoiling the party for Conte’s first home league game against their London rivals.

Team News

Chelsea have just two players expected to miss the start the season. Mikel John Obi is on international duty with Nigeria at the Olympics, while Kurt Zouma is still undergoing a lay off for his knee injury suffered in February last season. Antonio Conte has made just two signings as we head towards the tail end of the transfer window. N’Golo Kante will be expected to make his debut here. The summer saga of will-he-won’t-he leave regarding Diego Costa seems to have come to an end, which will more than likely see him as Conte’s first choice centre forward, so Michi Batsuayi will more than likely start on the bench. Many expected Conte to put his preferred 3-5-2 formation into practise throughout preseason but he opted for the similar 4-2-3-1 lineup in a number of their games, so it would be surprising to see him change to another formation for his first league game in charge.

West Ham United have had a relatively quiet summer transfer window. Manuel Lanzini made his loan move permanent and Bilic has bought in Sofiane Feghouli from Valencia as another notable addition to his squad. The standout signing of the summer for West Ham was Andre Ayew, joining for a club-record transfer fee from Swansea. He has history with causing the Chelsea defence a headache, so will be hoping to repeat that in this fixture and get off to a flyer with his new club. Lanzini is set be out for around five weeks, while Diafra Sakho and Aaron Creswell are also both out with injuries. Another addition to Bilic’s squad was former Chelsea player Gokhan Tore, but he is a doubt for this tie.

Key Points

Chelsea’s last five: N/A

West Ham United’s last five: N/A

Key Stat: Chelsea are undefeated against West Ham United in 19 of their last 21 games in all competitions.

Key Player: Eden Hazard – This is a huge season for Eden Hazard given how he underperformed throughout the 15/16 campaign. The Belgian had a good Euro 2016 on a personal level but was part of a national team who arguably should have done more. The former PFA Player of the Year needs to get off to a strong start to prove that last season was just a blip and show his worth and importance to this Chelsea squad.

Embed from Getty Images

Score Prediction

Chelsea 2-2 West Ham United – Another strongly-contested fixture between these two sides is expected. Chelsea will be eager to start this season with a bang, but West Ham will have other ideas and they have a squad capable of causing the very best sides problems.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: Leicester vs West Ham

Competition: Major League Soccer – Leicester City vs. West Ham United

Venue: King Power Stadium – Sunday, April 17 – 13:30 BST (08:30 ET)

Match Odds: Leicester 17/20 – Draw 13/5 – West Ham 16/5

Match Preview

Leicester welcome West Ham to the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon as the Foxes look to take another huge stride towards an astonishing Premier League title.

Claudio Ranieri’s men picked up a fifth-straight league win by beating Sunderland 2-0 last weekend and remain seven points clear of Tottenham with five games to play. The Foxes need three more wins to claim the title.

Leicester will be confident heading into Sunday’s game. They have not only won five in a row, but have kept five consecutive clean sheets too – all while playing under intense pressure at the top of the table.

Their turnaround this season has been simply magical and another win on Sunday would move them ten points clear off Spurs, who don’t play until Monday night.

West Ham will travel to Leicester looking to do London rivals Tottenham a huge favour. However, they are still fighting for their own objective, with a top four place far from out of the question.

The Hammers crashed out of the FA Cup in their quarterfinal replay against Manchester United on Wednesday night but will now look to bounce back with what would be a highly impressive victory should they pull it off.

Slaven Bilic’s men are just five points behind Manchester City in fourth place heading into the weekend and cannot give up on their Champions League dream just yet.

Leicester won the reverse fixture 2-1 back in August before beating the Hammers by the same scoreline after extra time at home in the third round of the League Cup in September.

West Ham have not beaten the Foxes away from home in the Premier League since 2000, so a win here would come as a major surprise.

Team News

Leicester have no injury concerns heading into another huge game for them as they close in on a historic Premier League title. However, Matthew James is unlikely to make the squad as he is short of match fitness. Shinji Okazaki will hope to continue to start in place of Leonardo Ulloa alongside Jamie Vardy in attack.

West Ham have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s game. Sam Byram is still out, so Michail Antonio will likely continue at right-back, while Diafra Sakho is a doubt and is unlikely to feature. Andy Carroll should continue to spearhead the attack after netting a hat-trick in his last league outing.

Key Points

Leicester’s last five: W/W/W/W/W

West Ham’s last five: W/W/D/D/D

Key Stat: Leicester have kept a clean sheet in seven of their last eight home games in the Premier League and come into the game off the back of five-straight shutouts.

Key Player: Dimitri Payet – While Leicester are favourites to win this game, West Ham have one of the league’s most dangerous players at their disposal. Payet has contributed to seven goals in his last seven appearances and has now created 94 chances for teammates this season – an average of 3.8 per game.

Score Prediction

Leicester 1-1 West Ham – Leicester have been flying of late and look unstoppable. However, West Ham have enjoyed a wonderful season of their own and will arrive at the King Power Stadium looking to spoil the party, while enhancing their own hopes of Champions League qualification. This could be a hard-fought battle and West Ham could well end Leicester’s five-game win streak, adding excitement to the title race before Spurs play on Monday night.

Manchester United host West Ham in a crucial FA Cup quarterfinal game on Sunday afternoon, with both sides eyeing a trip to Wembley if they can win here.

The Red Devils fell 2-0 to Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday night, following on from Sunday’s 1-0 loss at West Brom in what has been another tough week for Louis Van Gaal.

United looked to be in good shape before the West Brom defeat, having won four on the bounce, but they are back under pressure and fans will be desperate to see them beat West Ham on Sunday.

The Red Devils lost at home to Arsenal in the quarterfinals of last year’s FA Cup and will be desperate not to repeat that as they are just one game away from a Wembley appearance.

Manchester United’s FA Cup run: Third Round (H) – Sheffield United (1-0) – Fourth Round (A) – Derby County (3-1) – Fifth Round (A) – Shrewsbury Town (3-0)

West Ham will arrive at Old Trafford in high confidence and will be out to upset the hosts in what should be an entertaining game.

The Hammers have won four in a row in all competitions and look to be in great shape. They have picked up impressive results against big clubs all year and will be out for another scalp in this one.

Slaven Bilic will be desperate for a trip to Wembley with his West Ham players. His side are unbeaten in six in all competitions and are a tough side to break down.

These two sides played out a 0-0 draw in their Premier League meeting at Old Trafford in December and another close-fought battle is expected on Sunday.

West Ham’s FA Cup run: Third Round (H) – Wolves (1-0) – Fourth Round (A) – Liverpool (0-0) – Fourth Round Replay (H) – Liverpool (2-1 AET) – Fifth Round (A) – Blackburn Rovers (5-1)

Team News

Manchester United have a number of injury worries ahead of this one. Juan Mata is suspended, while Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw, Phil Jones and Ashley Young are all injured. Antonio Valencia and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson are doubts but Jesse Lingard should return to the side after missing Thursday’s loss at Liverpool through suspension.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic will be without Sam Byram as the right-back is ineligible. James Tomkins and James Collins both remain out but they are the only injury worries for the Hammers. Victor Moses, Enner Valencia, Joey O’Brien and Winston Reid are all back from injuries and will be in contention.

Key Points

Manchester United’s last five in all competitions: W/W/W/L/L

West Ham United’s last five in all competitions: D/W/W/W/W

Key Stat: Manchester United are unbeaten in ten games against West Ham (W6 D4).

Key Player: Dimitri Payet – The West Ham playmaker has been sensational this season. He has notched four goals and four assists in his last five games and looks to be in the best form of his campaign. If United fail to contain him, the Hammers will likely emerge victorious.

Score Prediction

Manchester United 1-1 West Ham – This should be a really tight battle between two clubs desperate for a trip to Wembley. United’s form has dipped again off the back of a poor week and West Ham are not the sort of side they will be able to outplay. The Hammers look sharp and will expect to earn a replay at the very least.

FA Cup Preview and Prediction: Liverpool vs West Ham

Competition: FA Cup Fourth Round – Liverpool vs. West Ham United

Venue: Anfield – Saturday, January 30 – 17:30 GMT (12:30 ET)

Match Odds Liverpool 29/10 – Draw 12/5 – West Ham 29/10

Match Preview

Liverpool play host to West Ham in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday evening in what is a repeat of the 2006 final that saw Liverpool fight back from 3-1 down to win on penalties.

Liverpool are facing their third match in seven days here. They booked a Wembley date with Manchester City for February 28th after their League Cup semifinal victory over Stoke City on penalties on Tuesday.

But with plenty of key players having played that match, Jurgen Klopp could rest some of those stars for the West Ham game, especially as they head to Leicester City on Tuesday night.

If the Reds do advance to the fifth round, it will mean they play at least seven matches next month as the fixtures just keep coming. So some big decisions lie at the German manager’s door on what to prioritise.

Christian Benteke could lead the line for Liverpool after starting on the bench against Stoke. He started both games against Exeter City in the third round of this competition.

For West Ham, the 2006 FA Cup final has been the closest the club has come to winning silverware since 1980. With the Hammer’s league form so strong, and with the scalps they have been pulling off, they could well go deep into this year’s FA Cup.

This competition gives them their last chance of winning silverware before they leave Upton Park for their move to the Olympic Stadium next season.

West Ham can take huge confidence from completing a league double over their counterparts on Saturday, scoring five goals and conceding none in the two league matches against Liverpool.

Embed from Getty Images

With longer rest time than their opponents too, they could inflict some serious damage on the Reds.

Dimitri Payet is a man that Liverpool will need to halt, as the Frenchman has been so impressive since joining from Marseille in the Summer. One defeat in eleven has seen the Hammers move up into sixth place in the league, one place above the Reds in seventh, so this should be a close battle.

Team News

The match comes too soon for the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, Martin Skrtel and Divock Origi, while Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are long-term absentees.

West Ham recently lost Carl Jenkinson for the season. James Tomkins, Michail Antonio and Mark Noble are racing to bit fit, while Andy Carroll is expected to be back in training next week. Diafra Sakho is still missing through a knee injury.

Key Points

Liverpool’s last five in all competitions: D/L/W/W/L

West Ham’s last five in all competitions: W/W/W/L/D

Key Stat: Liverpool haven’t conceded a goal at Anfield in the FA Cup since 2012, which coincides with the last time they got to the final, when they played Chelsea in a 2-1 loss.

Key Player: Dimitri Payet – When Payet is on the pitch West Ham look a totally different side. He is West Ham’s top scorer and leader in assists and is a true fan favourite. He can cause problems for a Liverpool backline that has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks and he is more than capable of unlocking the door that can send West Ham to the next round.

Score Prediction

Liverpool 0-2 West Ham – A first league double over Liverpool since 1952 will give the Hammers huge amounts of confidence going into this one. Injuries on both sets of teams deplete the matchup of key players. But West Ham are confident away from home as victories over Arsenal, Manchester City and their opponents Liverpool have already shown. Whoever wins will be feared in round five.

Premier League Preview and Prediction: West Ham vs Liverpool

Competition: Premier League – West Ham United vs. Liverpool

Venue: Upton Park – Saturday, January 2 – 12:45 GMT (07:45 EST)

Match Odds: West Ham United 13/5 – Draw 12/5 – Liverpool 21/20

Match Preview

West Ham will host Liverpool in the Premier League’s first game of 2016 at Upton Park this Saturday lunchtime in a game in which the Reds will be looking for revenge after losing 3-0 in the reverse fixture back in August.

West Ham come into this one unbeaten in six Premier League games, but have only managed one win in their last nine and don’t look to be as much of a threat as they were in the early weeks of the campaign.

It’s remarkable how they are still in the top half of the table, after taking just nine points from a possible 27 in their last nine matches.

Injuries haven’t helped Slaven Bilic’s men, though they have managed well enough with the loss of Dimitri Payet. But with his return nearing, things look positive for the Hammers if they can make winning a more frequent event from now.

West Ham United’s Premier League record: P19 – W7 – D8 – L4

Liverpool have been impressive as well as efficient recently, winning their last two games 1-0 in the Premier League.

Inconsistency, however, is letting them down. A 3-1 win against Chelsea and a 4-1 win against Manchester City have been blighted by losses to Watford and Newcastle in the last couple of months.

They come into the game in seventh place, just one point and one place above West Ham in the table, so a win for either here would be an important one.

Liverpool’s Premier League record: P19 – W8 – D6 – L5

Liverpool will want to push on for the top four now they have put two wins together and manager Jurgen Klopp knows a good start to 2016 will increase the club’s chances of Champions League qualification.

Team News

West Ham are likely to still be without Dimitri Payet, although he is nearing a return to action. Aaron Cresswell and Nikica Jelavic are also doubts and might miss this one too through injury. Winston Reid, Diafra Sakho and Victor Moses are all definitely out and will miss the clash.

Liverpool will be without Jordan Henderson, Martin Skrtel, Jon Flanagan, Joe Gomez, Danny Ings, Divork Origi, James Milner and Jordan Rossiter. Daniel Sturridge and Joe Allen are doubts but could start as Jurgen Klopp will need to make changes again.

Key Points

West Ham United’s last five: D/D/D/D/W

Liverpool’s last five: L/D/L/W/W

Key Stat: West Ham are undefeated in their last seven home matches in the Premier League.

Key Player: Christian Benteke – The Belgian striker has been more clinical in front of goal recently, scoring in Liverpool’s last two games, and we expect him to be on the scoresheet once again here.

Score Prediction

West Ham United 0-1 Liverpool – We’re not expecting many goals in this clash as both will want to start the new year in as solid a way as possible. However, we feel that Liverpool have enough quality to just edge out an injury-stricken West Ham side here.
