Is this the biggest hint yet that Mourinho will be the next United manager?

It’s no shock to hear any developments that Jose Mourinho is nearing a return to management and the former Chelsea boss is the front-runner for the Manchester United job.

Portuguese media outlet Correio da Manhã report Mourinho is finalising details of his chosen new home in Manchester.

Louis Van Gaal is expected to be ousted from the club at the end of the season after spending huge sums on a number of players who have failed to make much of an impact for the Red Devils.

No move is expected to happen before the end of the season but there will be added pressure for Van Gaal to make the top four to ensure Mourinho can attract the players he will want if he succeeds the Dutchman.

Mourinho has openly stated he is waiting for the ‘right move’ ahead of his potential next job, reported by Sky Sports News.

“I always feel that it’s better to wait, not to rush, better to be calm, to wait for the right moment, the right move,” the three-time Premier League winner said.

“I feel that starting the next season with a new club and project is probably the best thing for me.”

Mourinho has played down the situation and has taken a light-hearted approach to reports linking him with managerial roles across the globe and his current management status.

“I read so many different things. One day it says I go to China, another day it says I go to Italy, and people say I’m back to Inter Milan. I’m here – probably, you are saying I will go to the Singapore national team.

“It’s quite a funny career. I am the English champion, and I still have no job.”

Will Mourinho be the next United manager? Will his managerial qualities shine through once again in his next role?

Louis Van Gaal receives backing from Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United FC manager Louis Van Gaal has what it takes to succeed according to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking exclusively with Sky Sports, the former United boss thinks Van Gaal possesses the experience and confidence required to be the club’s current manager.

“Louis has got a great background with Bayern Munich and Barcelona. He’s got the pedigree there’s no doubt about that.

“I love his press conferences. They are brilliant. I can see some of the press guys twitching in their seats as he answers some of the questions. He’s got the confidence to deal with that.”

Ferguson believes Van Gaal has the ability to make the right decisions and that the club is heading in the right direction under his guidance.

“We all have our different philosophies and beliefs. We have different ways of doing things, the way we pick teams and how we look at the qualities of players.

“He’s got the experience. He knows how to handle these things.”

Van Gaal’s style of play is starting to show through as his side impressed over the weekend. Despite conceding twice at Southampton, they held out for the win and scored a marvellous 44-pass goal.

Ferguson hinted that patience is key and that the United manager will get his team the way he wants it.

“It’s going to take time because everyone is different. Taking over from myself it’s going to take time to get his team on the pitch.”

Is Louis Van Gaal the right man for United and will he be a success?

Manchester United great reveals good news ahead of preseason tour

Manchester United great, Denis Irwin, believes Louis Van Gaal‘s organisation of the club’s preseason tour in the US will benefit the side.

Van Gaal was unable to have much of a say on his side’s America tour last summer due to his involvement with Holland in the World Cup.

But the United manager has made certain there will not be a repeat of the travelling ahead of the new season and Irwin told the squad will be under less strain as a result.

“Last year he came in late because of how well the Dutch team did at the World Cup, so it wasn’t his tour in terms of preparation.

“This time he’s been able to organise it himself, organise the distances we travel, where we stay, where we train and also organise having the matches four days apart.”

United face Club America on July 17, followed by Major League Soccer outfit, San Jose Earthquakes on July 21 before two showdown clashes against Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain on July 25 and 29.

Irwin feels Van Gaal’s preparation is spot on and that the players will ready to come up against some tough opposition.

“His preparation is unique because of the amount of detail there is to it. He’ll be looking forward to it and the way the games are with Barcelona and PSG as the final two means it’ll get tougher as the tour goes on, but the players’ fitness will also improve so the set-up will be exactly how the manager wants it.”

United faced five opponents in their last preseason, with games spaced closer together. A hectic 11 day period saw them play five games against LA Galaxy, Roma, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Liverpool between July 24 and August 5, whereas this summer they play four sides across 12 days.

Will a less hectic preseason help Manchester United ahead of their 2015/16 campaign?

Louis Van Gaal suggests United fans will have to wait for £25m man to shine

Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal, has suggested that the Old Trafford faithful will have to wait for new signing, Memphis Depay to shine.

The highly-rated winger is tipped to become one of the best after yet another impressive season with PSV Eindhoven but Van Gaal, reported by the Express, expects his development to take time.

“I worked with Memphis during last summer’s World Cup with the Netherlands and he has great potential.

“The plan is to help him develop as a player, but we must all be patient. The Premier League is very different from any other league and it will take time for him to fully adapt to the pace and unforgiving nature of football in this country.”

Depay has netted an impressive 22 goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances this season and his performances have filled United fans with enthusiasm.

It is early doors to suggest that the 21-year-old Dutchman can reach the levels of former United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, but the Portuguese international signed for the Red Devils aged 18.

Ronaldo’s development boomed at United and we could see a similar rise to the top if he is managed in the right way.

Will Depay make an instant impact or will Manchester United fans have to wait to see the best of him?

Manchester United given HUGE boost in chase for £44m-rated star

Manchester United have been given a huge boost in their hunt for a goal-machine this summer as Real Madrid could be willing to let Karim Benzema leave, according to the Daily Star.

Benzema has been at Real Madrid since 2009 and has netted a staggering 134 goals in 279 games, which is all the more impressive as he has played each season with prolific goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 27-year-old Frenchman could be the perfect option for Louis Van Gaal given his vast experience of playing and scoring consistently at the top level.

The France international is valued at £44 million by and it is believed that Madrid would be willing to part with their star to reinvest in a younger goalscorer, with Arsenal also reportedly interested.

Benzema is reaching the peak of his career and so a move could be a good option for both parties. His style of play could be well suited to the Premier League as a striker who boasts a complete range of abilities.

As United look set to return to Champions League action next season his experience in the competition would be a great addition to the squad. Benzema has proved he can work well with big egos and the highest quality of players.

A move could also rejuvenate struggling United star Angel Di Maria’s career. The two were part of Madrid’s ‘La Decima’ (tenth European Cup triumph) and linking up once again could help Benzema make his decision.

Would Karim Benzema be the perfect forward for United to sign this summer?

Manchester United plotting £54m double Bayern Munich raid – report

Manchester United are monitoring Bayern Munich duo Bastian Schweinsteiger and Robert Lewandowski as Pep Guardiola ponders whether he requires the pair, according to the Daily Star.

Polish striker Lewandowski is valued at £44 million by, while Schweinsteiger is believed to be available for around £10 million.

Louis Van Gaal has been linked with superstars across Europe as he prepares to dig deep into Manchester United’s finances in an attempt to be challenging on all fronts next season upon the club’s likely return to the Champions League.

Lewandowski has 16 Bundesliga goals in 26 appearances this season and an impressive 185 goals in 340 club career appearances so far.

He joined Bayern on a free transfer last summer after leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of his contract, and penned a five-year deal with the Bundesliga leaders so it would likely take a big offer to seal his services.

United have been heavily linked with signing a marquee goalscorer as they are reported to be looking to offload the misfiring Radamel Falcao and injury-prone Robin van Persie.

Schweinsteiger has a wealth of experience and could be a key addition to the United squad. He has won the Bundesliga a whopping seven times, as well as a Champions League and a World Cup.

A United move for the 30-year-old German could however be difficult, due to his poor relationship with Louis Van Gaal dating back to his time as Bayern Munich manager.

Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in both players but United will hope the lure of Premier League football could be a factor.

It wouldn’t be the first time Guardiola has moved on world class players, as he did with Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his time at Barcelona.

The Bayern manager is ruthless when it comes to change at clubs and holds no sentiment with anyone. His side top the Bundesliga and are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but despite that, it appears he is looking to rejig his squad of superstars this summer.

Do Manchester United need Bastian Schweinsteiger and Robert Lewandowski? Should they make moves for both?

Louis Van Gaal sends assistant to Italy to watch multiple targets

Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal sent an assistant to Napoli to watch the Serie A side’s Coppa Italia semi-final with Lazio tonight, with at least three players being monitored ahead of possible summer moves, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian duo faced off at the San Paolo, with Lazio coming out on top in a tight 1-0 win to seal a place in the final against Juventus, and United took the opportunity to watch some of their transfer targets up close.

Lazio duo Felipe Anderson and Lucas Biglia were both being scouted, as was Napoli’s star man Gonzalo Higuain.

Biglia is an experienced defensive midfielder, and was also a target for United in January but could be signed this summer for around £8 million.

His Lazio teammate Felipe Anderson is an exciting left-winger, who can play across the front line, and is also a target for Premier League leaders Chelsea.

The 21-year-old Brazilian forward has scored 10 goals with eight assists in 26 games across Serie A and the Coppa Italia this season and has already been watched by United scouts on a couple of occasions this year.

While Higuain is also being watched, despite being linked with a summer move to Arsenal. Van Gaal is going to need to strengthen his attack this summer as Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie are both likely to depart.

Edinson Cavani has been strongly linked with a £60 million switch to Old Trafford but Higuain is also an exciting option and has scored 23 goals in all competitions for Napoli this season.

Should Manchester United make a move for any of the three players reportedly being watched in Napoli? Who should be a priority?

Louis Van Gaal ready to offload £24m star this summer

There have been no end to transfer rumours surrounding Manchester United as Louis Van Gaal is expected to revamp his squad again this summer. Robin Van Persie is the latest star to be linked with a move away from the club, according to the Daily Star.

Van Persie’s contract expires at the end of next season and the club appear to have made no advances to secure the Dutchman to a new deal. After another injury-stricken season and a lack of game time, it looks like his time is up with the club.

Sir Alex Ferguson signed Van Persie from Arsenal back in 2012 for £24 million. He scored 30 goals in his debut season for the Red Devils, practically securing the club’s 20th Premier League title single-handedly.

He then scored 18 goals under David Moyes last season but has seen his goalscoring exploits decrease further this year, with just ten in 25 appearances – his worst games-per-goal tally for seven seasons.

United haven’t missed the 31-year-old during his latest six-week injury stint, winning five consecutive games and are currently sitting in third place ahead of Manchester City, who they face in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Van Persie is expected to be out of the game at Old Trafford against City this Sunday and out of the exit doors for good this summer, with Edison Cavani one of the names linked to the club as a replacement for the Dutchman.

The 31-year-old forward is believed to be keen on a return to Holland and could join back up with Eredivisie side Feyenoord, who he joined as a 15 year old.

Will Robin Van Persie leave Manchester United this summer? Does he deserve a new contract?

Does Manchester United’s recent run of form show that Louis Van Gaal is what they needed?

With Manchester United having recorded five wins on the bounce for the first time in nearly two years, they extended their great run of form with victory over Liverpool today.

Louis Van Gaal had a shaky start to his career as United boss, but everything seems to be going their way at the moment.

Winning games being the key, no matter how they’re doing it, they’re ensuring that the three points are rolling in each week.

Manchester United’s winning streak:

Manchester United 1-0 Crystal Palace (8/11/14)

Arsenal 1-2 Manchester United (22/11/14)

Manchester United 3-0 Hull City (29/11/14)

Manchester United 2-1 Stoke City (02/12/14)

Southampton 1-2 Manchester United (08/12/14)

Manchester United 3-0 Liverpool (14/12/14)

Beating any side in the Premier League is no easy task and United have risen to the challenge, beating Arsenal away and holding out tight margins with wins against Stoke at home and early high flyers Southampton away.

With only one loss in their previous 11 games, things are looking good during this hectic festive period.

Their winning streak means that they have kept pace with Manchester City and league leaders Chelsea. The Red Devils are just eight points off top spot now, something not many people would have predicted to be the case given their start to the season.

Whether it’s the experience that Van Gaal is bringing to the side or if it’s the way he captivates the dressing room, it is working. And it is so apparent with the belief shown in the players.

Goalkeeper David De Gea has put in some of the best performances of his career in recent weeks to prove the confidence is flowing through the side. The Spaniard put in an incredible display in today’s 3-0 win against Liverpool and things are looking up.

The approach to each game is looking more and more positive each week, something we just didn’t see happening while David Moyes was in charge last season.

Without the distraction of European competitions this season Van Gaal’s men look to be in a really strong position to be finishing in a Champions League spot, which is vital so that they can build strong foundations for next season.

Things can only keep improving, and with the likes of Radamel Falcao working his way back to full fitness, United have some great options.

Louis Van Gaal will be delighted with the progress his side is making and will not care what any critics have to say about the playing style, because as we all know it’s not about how you got the three points, it’s making sure that you did.

Is Louis Van Gaal the right man for United and will we see them back to their best now?
