Yaya Toure’s agent reveals MLS not an option but hints at United switch

Yaya Toure’s Manchester City career looks set to come to an end this summer but he might not be leaving the city, with his agent Dimitri Seluk suggesting a move to rivals Manchester United could happen.

Toure is believed to be keen on extending his contract at the Etihad but with his current deal set to expire in three months and no sign of a new offer from City, Seluk has started the process of finding the Ivorian midfielder a new club.

At 33, Toure still has at least a couple more seasons in the tank but he looks set to remain in Europe with his agent dismissing offers from China and MLS as he looks to find the two-time Premier League winner a new home.

“Some clubs have contacted me,” Seluk said. “Now we have three options. I don’t speak about Yaya and China or the MLS. He will play in Europe. I have spoken with clubs in different countries; Italy and Spain.

“We waited until March 15 for what Manchester City will say but until now Manchester City don’t say anything. Before March, we didn’t negotiate with anybody because Yaya does a lot with Manchester City, so we waited. But we cannot wait until the last minute.”

Toure could well stay in the Premier League, with Seluk suggesting a shock move to City’s arch rivals United could still go ahead, while praising Jose Mourinho as a great coach.

“Why not?” Seluk said when asked about a possible move to Old Trafford. “Jose Mourinho is a very good coach. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was together with Yaya in Barcelona.

“I understand this is two clubs who are rivals but for me, this is not a problem from Yaya or from me, this problem will be from Manchester City staff.”

Toure was frozen out of Pep Guardiola’s plans at the start of the season because of comments made by Seluk and his latest outburst will have done little to help an already fragile season.

The former Barcelona midfielder has gone on to play 21 games for the Citizens this season, scoring six goals, but was left on the bench as City crashed out of the Champions League in Monaco on Wednesday night.

Can you see Yaya Toure going to Manchester United this summer?

Louis Van Gaal’s side have won four of their last five domestic games but come into this one off the back of a tough, well earned draw in Moscow in the Champions League in midweek.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side come into this one off the back of thumping Bournemouth 5-1, where Raheem Sterling bagged a hat-trick. Wilfred Bony impressed, stepping in for the injured Sergio Aguero.

Manchester City have some injury problems with key players missing, but will be more than up for the task of taking points from United this weekend. They scored a late winner to take all three points against Sevilla in the Champions League in midweek, thanks again to Kevin De Bruyne.

Match Preview

Everton host Manchester City in one of the stand out fixtures of the weekend. The Toffees will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the 2015/16 Premier League season while City want to maintain their 100% record.

Everton come into the game off the back of their impressive 3-0 away win against Southampton, which was a bit of a shock result considering the qualities the Saints possess. Roberto Martinez will be pleased with his sides start to the season and although it is a very early stage, his players seem to have clicked into gear.

Romelu Lukaku has wasted no time finding his feet this season, with that impressive brace last weekend. He will be expecting to better last seasons tally of ten league goals and is looking sharp, he could cause the City defence all sorts of problems.

Last seasons meeting between the sides ended 1-1 at Goodison Park, this game provides a good chance for Martinez’s men to send out a message that they are ready to challenge for a top four spot.

Manchester City have started the season in scintillating form. They have the look of a complete team and seem to have ironed out some of those defensive frailties which cost them so badly last campaign.

Manuel Pellegrini will be delighted with the demolition of title rivals Chelsea and City showed their desire to regain their Premier League crown from the Blues.

City will be well aware of Everton’s performance against Southampton but will be expecting to take all three points here. Raheem Sterling can expect a hostile welcome from the home fans given his Liverpool connection, he will be keen to show why City paid the staggering fee to acquire his services.

Sergio Aguero tormented the Chelsea defence last weekend and he will be looking to win the golden boot once again. His tally of 26 league goals was enough to win the accolade last campaign and no doubt he will be challenging all season to better that total. City are an immense force with their spine of Joe Hart, captain Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero in form, and those four players have started the season very well.

Everton have five injury concerns. Martinez is expected to be without fan-favourtie Leighton Baines until November as he is recovering from an ankle injury. Tony Hibbert, Aidan McGeady, Darron Gibson and Steven Pienaar are all set to be sidelined for this one. Martinez is unlikely to upset the balance of his side after their 3-0 win over Southampton so he will more than likely field the same starting 11.

Manchester City are without Fernando and Pablo Zabaleta. New signing Fabian Delph could return but that will more than likely be a place on the bench if he is declared fit. This weeks £32 million signing, Nicolas Otamendi, is expected to have to wait for his full debut, as Manuel Pellegrini, similarly to Roberto Martinez, will leave his side unchanged.

Key Points

Everton’s form: D/W

Manchester City’s form: W/W

Key Stat: Ruthless – Manchester City have won their last eight Premier League outings, they’re averaging three goals a game having scored netted 24 times in those eight matches.

Key Player: Sergio Aguero – The Argentinian is unplayable at the top of his game. He will be eager to build on his performance from last weekend.

City boss praises MLS and gives Toure boost

Manchester City boss, Manuel Pellegrini, has praised Major League Soccer in his first media outing on the clubs post-season tour in Toronto.

Pellegrini is excited about playing against both Toronto and Houston Dynamo and is impressed with the growth of MLS. New York City FC are struggling at the foot of the Eastern Conference and City will be hoping their sister club can improve on their disappointing start to the season.

“The league is improving every year. I hope the matches will be good and they will be beautiful games,” he said to MCFC.co.uk.

The City boss has some positive news about the future of Yaya Toure and it looks like he will be staying at the club.

“When the media asked me about a month ago I always said that Yaya is very happy here. He doesn’t have any intention to go to another club.

“I am always talking with all the players. That’s why when I said Yaya will stay here it’s because I know the way he thinks.”

Pellegrini has hinted he will be adding to his squad once his analysis of the season has taken place and he has worked out where he needs to strengthen.

“We will analyse the last season. After that we will decide where we need to improve.”

City fans will be hoping news surrounding Toure continues to be positive and that their midfield powerhouse will be playing at the Etihad for the remainder of his contract at the very least.

West Ham dealt blow as AC Milan join chase for midfielder – report

West Ham loanee Alex Song has been linked with a summer move to AC Milan as they look to replace Nigel De Jong, who is expected to leave the Italian club in the summer.

Song, currently on loan from FC Barcelona, is with the Hammers for the season and the Premier League side are keen on making his move permanent.

However, AC Milan and Inter Milan are also interested in the Cameroon international, with Inter looking to Song as a potential backup option, should their pursuit of Yaya Toure fall short.

Song is favourite to join AC Milan in the summer, according to the Daily Mail, as De Jong looks set to leave on a free after rejecting a new contract and is wanted by Manchester United.

Song, who joined Barcelona in the summer of 2012 for a reported fee of £15 million, has played 27 times for West Ham in the Premier League this season and has been a great asset to the side this campaign.

West Ham’s recent form has seen them drop out of the race for European football but they can still see their season as successful and signing Song on a permanent basis would also be huge for the East London club.

Should West Ham look to tie down Alex Song on a permanent basis? Would AC Milan be a better move for the former Arsenal man?

Chelsea plotting SHOCK £10m move for City superstar – report

Chelsea are set to make a surprise summer move for Manchester City’s Yaya Toure with the Ivorian heading for the exit door, according to the Daily Express.

The City star is “90 per cent certain” to leave the club this summer, according to his agent Dimitri Seluk, and he has reportedly confirmed that Chelsea have shown an interest.

Jose Mourinho is thought to be an admirer of Toure, who scored twice in City’s 4-2 win over Swansea on Sunday, and the Blues could make a shock £10 million for the powerful midfielder.

Inter Milan have also expressed a keen interest in signing the 32-year-old star as a reunion with Roberto Mancini looks to be a real possibility.

All signs point towards a City exit and the club will use the transfer fee and his huge wages in excess of £200,000-a-week to rebuild the squad ahead of next season.

The Citizens have fallen short of Chelsea this season, with the Blues winning the title for the first time in five years, and a move to Stamford Bridge for Toure would certainly hurt City fans.

Mourinho will look to strengthen his Chelsea squad this summer with quality signings as they look to dominate English football for the long run, and Yaya Toure could be one of the first names on the Portuguese coach’s shortlist.

Would Yaya Toure leave Manchester City to join Chelsea? Would he be a good signing for Chelsea?

City star to take £2m pay cut to force through move to Inter Milan – report

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure looks to have all but sealed a move to Inter Milan to be reunited with former boss Roberto Mancini this summer.

The latest reports suggest that Toure is willing to take a significant pay cut to ensure the move goes through as his time in the Premier League with City is drawing to a close.

Corriere dello Sport suggest that the 32-year-old Ivorian has agreed a £3.5million-a-year salary on a four-year deal that will run until 2019 – a deal that will see him earn much less than the estimated £5.75 million-a-year he is currently on at City.

However, a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs. It has been suggested that City value Toure at around £10 million and the deal relies on Inter meeting that figure at the very least.

Having been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester in recent months is seems inevitable that Toure will move after seeing a dramatic drop in form this season, while City’s failure to retain the title will have played a part in any decision.

All that being said, Toure has been part of the core of the Manchester City squad since his arrival in the summer of 2010, and having won two Premier League winner’s medals, he will leave as a hero with the club.

City have been linked with a huge move for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba as a possible replacement for Toure, and many feel the Frenchman is one of very few who could emulate the powerful Ivory Coast international’s performances.

Would Inter Milan be a good move for Yaya Toure? Who should Manchester City look to replace him with?

STATS: Can Juventus star replace Yaya Toure at Manchester City?

Juventus midfield superstar, Paul Pogba, is looking like the main transfer story of the summer so far and is top of many top clubs’ shopping lists, with the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG among those searching for his signature.

Former club Manchester United have also been linked but Pogba could join the blue side of Manchester since reports emerged that Yaya Toure is likely to be heading out of the club this summer.

Pogba, who has won his third Serie A title in a row this season, is one of few that are similar to Toure in stature and playing style and City are keen to acquire the Frenchman.

Should Pogba make the move, it is reported that his salary would be approximately £250,000-a-week after tax, making him the highest paid midfielder in the world.

So how does the promising youngster weigh up against Toure? We compare their league stats from this term:

Yaya Toure Stat Paul Pogba
31 Age 22
27 Appearances 23
8 Goals 8
1 Assists 2
89% Pass Completion % 83
21 Tackles Won 45
30 Key Passes 32
31 Chances Created 34

Judging from the stats above, there is a clear indication that Pogba can replicate the performances from Yaya Toure this year, and with potential to get much better, Pogba should be a worthy investment.

It is worth noting that this has not been Yaya Toure’s greatest season at Manchester City but the Juventus star’s statistics speak volumes about how influential he is.

Do you think Paul Pogba will replace Yaya Toure at Manchester City? Would he be the perfect signing for City?

Inter Milan lining up £40m double swoop on City duo – report

Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is looking to bring Stevan Jovetic and Yaya Toure to Inter Milan this summer and could look to spend £40 million to secure both players.

Jovetic joined City for £22 million after Mancini left the club in 2013 but has failed to impress over the past two seasons and his time is looking set to draw to a close.

Inter Milan are keen on bringing the former Fiorentina man back to Serie A and will look to secure a loan move with the option to buy for £15 million at the end of that spell, according to the Daily Mail.

The Montenegro international has made 17 Premier League appearances this season, scoring five times with three assists but is behind Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Wilfried Bony in the pecking order.

Star midfielder Yaya Toure, who is valued at £25 million by transfermarkt.co.uk, could be following Jovetic out of City to join Inter at the end of the season after revealing he is ready for “new challenges”.

The 31-year-old Ivorian has been a mainstay in the City side since Mancini signed him from Barcelona in 2010, but he has not been anywhere near as good as he was last year and could be heading out the exit door.

After scoring 20 league goals on the way to a second title with City last season, Toure has only managed eight this year and his agent, Dimitri Seluk has admitted he has offers to move on.

“We have had different offers for Yaya but we must speak to Manchester City,” Seluk told Sky Sports News.

“People think he will stay because of money but we don’t care about money. If Man City don’t want him – no problem.”

How important are Stevan Jovetic and Yaya Toure to Manchester City? Will both leave the club this summer?

Inter Milan set sights on HUGE move for Manchester City trio

Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is preparing a raid on his former club for Manchester City trio Yaya Toure, James Milner and Samir Nasri, according to the Daily Mail.

Mancini is planning to reshape his Inter side by signing the three midfielders he brought to City during his spell at the Premier League club.

James Milner is out of contract in the summer and has attracted interest from a number of clubs after a solid season and could favour a reunion with his former coach in Italy.

Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri have not enjoyed the best of seasons and have failed to make their usual impact for the reigning champions.

Inter could hit a snag in their pursuit of Toure due to his high wages at a reported £200,000-a-week. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Ivorian and a move to the mega rich French club could be a more likely destination, given their extra financial power.

Embed from Getty Images

A move for Samir Nasri is also a possibility for PSG but Mancini will hope his connections with the player can lure him to Inter.

City’s squad has come under fire due to their below-par performances since the turn of the year and there could be major changes at the club over the summer as they are looking to get back on track.

If Mancini is to land all three of his former stars it would go some way to rebuilding his Inter squad who have struggled this season and are sitting 9th in Serie A.

Should Manchester City allow Yaya Toure, James Milner and Samir Nasri leave the club this summer?
